Gohan went Super Saiyan 2 after his power was unlocked?

Why do people keep insisting Gohan is forever incapable of going SSJ when Rou Kaioshin flat-out confirmed that he still can a few chapters later? :?

It's not like it's the first time Gohan powered up his SSJ strength but remained in base form, either; he did it against Kibito.

^When was that? Are you referring to when Goku asks if they should be "Super Saiyan upon fusing" or something?

The Super Saiyan aura was present because he was in the process of becoming a Super Saiyan. That certainly isn't the only time it's happened.

Perhaps because if he could, he would've done it when he was getting his ass kicked by Super Gotenks Boo? And...

No he wouldn't. At that point all his potential is already in use. That would make SSJ a useless transformation, not an impossible one.

You can't really use that example, as Gohan had less, than 45 mins. left of his power unlocking ritual, so when he tried to go SSJ, or power up or whatever, the power he brought forth was the unfinished potential.

But anyhoo, Rou Kaioshin confirms he can, while the nature of the Ultimate power up tells us why he didn't try.

Too bad nobody at the fine folks of GT got the memo that transforming would be useless. He does it quite a bit. Shame.
