How do you pronounce the name "Xicor"?
How do you pronounce the name "Xicor" the villain from Dragon Ball AF?
Re: How do you pronounce the name "Xicor"?
The kana is romanized to "zaiko`". So... Zigh-kor?

Soppa Saiyjins from Dorgou Ballru Zetto is my favorite transformation everah, especially when Trounksoru did it in front of Seru and when Bejita did it when he faced Jingonigen-hachigo. But for real, I use the FUNi pronunciation. - Soppa Saia People

Haha, I don't even think non-canon would come into play since he is made up and doesnt have anything to do with the show.

Its non-canonicity doesn't affect someone's desire to know how something's pronounced, though...AnimeMaakuo wrote:Non-canon. ~No-n-can-non.~

Re: How do you pronounce the name "Xicor"?
I thought it was like Zickor, not Zaikor...
Re: How do you pronounce the name "Xicor"?
I'm not an expert in phonetics at all, but I think that it may be pronounced like following: \ˈi-dē-ə-sē\.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Seems like it would sound like "Zai-core"... I can't really see any other way to pronounce it.

In my head I always pronounced it 'Zye-sore,' don't know why but I just do.

Re: How do you pronounce the name "Xicor"?
I never looked at the kana, so based off the English spelling I pronounced it "Zee-kor." Looks like it's supposed to be "Zigh-kor."
Re: How do you pronounce the name "Xicor"?
Isn't it just "Kor" like "Corn" with out the "n"?
Or just "Zee-Kor"
Or just "Zee-Kor"

Maybe this will help. Go to this page, and click on the uppermost blue dot with an arrow inside. Now, imagine that pronunciation only with a 'z' sound at the start rather than an 's'. Alternatively, just try pronouncing "psycho" with a 'z' sound at the start.
edit: Confound it, I can't seem to get the blasted link to work...uh, just go with the "rhymes with psycho" thing I guess.
That's how his name in katakana should be pronounced anyway. It's written ザイコー/Zaikoo. The elongated 'o' sound in this case seems to be meant as an approximation of a 'kor' sound though (since the alphabet spelling is "Xicor" after all), so I suppose a more English-friendly pronunciation would be "Zai" (rhymes with "sigh") "core" (like an apple core).

Re: How do you pronounce the name "Xicor"?
I always assumed since "Xi" is a Greek letter, the first portion was pronounced the same.

Re: How do you pronounce the name "Xicor"?
I've heard Xicor was derived from the Star Wars character Xizor, so like that but with a c instead of a z.

^I've heard the same thing as well. I always thought his name was a pun of scissors for a some odd reasson.

Re: How do you pronounce the name "Xicor"?
I actually read it as zai-core before I'd even seen the kana, so it seems I was right-on. I agree with Mike though; non-canon or otherwise, it's DB-related, and a valid question (though probably better for the questions section than here) to ask for name pronunciations, especially obscure ones, in this type of community where you know you'll get some valid answers

Re: How do you pronounce the name "Xicor"?
If that were the case, Xicor would be pronounced as "She-core" since Xizor was established in the book as being pronounced "She-zore"Taku128 wrote:I've heard Xicor was derived from the Star Wars character Xizor, so like that but with a c instead of a z.
Re: How do you pronounce the name "Xicor"?
See I always read it Zee-Zor, like seesaw but with Z and my friend pronounces it Z-aye-sor
Clearly we're both waaaay off. (Neither of us read Japanese so looking at the Japanese name wouldn't really help us out)
