"Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans" Official Discussion
Re: "Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans" Official Discussion
Interesting special, loved the animation and action throughout the special and I liked how they turned the original hour long OVA into 30 minutes without making it feel rushed.
Here's hoping for an English dub of this and the 2008 special someday...

Re: "Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans" Official Discussion
My girlfriend, a friend, and I were recently able to watch this.
My girlfriend doesn't like the new art style because the thinks that the main characters are too shiny looking. She didn't get to see the entire thing, though, so she didn't have too much of an opinion beyond that.
My friend isn't too picky about his Dragonball. He likes some of the characters and he likes the fights. He commented that the whole thing was "simple" but he also noted that a lot of the short Dragonball features are pretty simple and that he doesn't mind them being simple because he doesn't watch Dragonball for anything deep.
I couldn't even finish the original version but I was able to very quickly get into this and watch it all the way through with a smile. I wasn't looking for my mind to be blown or anything like that. I just wanted to have some fun watching Dragonball and I think this feature did that for me. It's like watching the Jump Special, but with more focus on the fighting rather than the comedy.
Obviously, I like it and it's not just because it's "new" Dragonball material. It's just fun to watch! I would like to see future features like that which sort of have a "looking back on [such-and-such arc]" feel to them as I doubt Dragonball's ever going to be fully reanimated.

You know, I think one explanation of them waiting for Hatchiyakku to shoot was because, what if he could stop charging? What if Goku and gang shot off their attacks at 10 seconds, and Hatchiyakku just stopped charging and moved? When he notices Trunks, he seems to stop charging, just not enough in time to move. So, their only choice is to lock him into a beam battle and hope to overpower him.
Also, I REALLY liked the music in this. It really hit home for the Kikuchi fan in me.

I'm going to assume that the production was rushed. The fluidity in the animation, and the direction itself is awkward. In short, a terribly animated DBZ short.
The soundtrack however. Fuckin' phenomenal.

I didn't think it was that badly animated. Actually, in some parts, it looked downright pretty.Snail wrote:I'm going to assume that the production was rushed. The fluidity in the animation, and the direction itself is awkward. In short, a terribly animated DBZ short.

In other... well, there's some off model shots. Especially in the more peaceful moments. ESPECIALLY with Bulma, oddly enough.

Compared to other fansubbed Anime, that's nothing. I still stand by my point, in that there was no need to.Puto wrote:Actually it was because the left-alignment, dub names and subtitled "graah"s made them rather frustrating to watch.

Nothing about the visuals really meshes well together, everything was stiff and choppy. There were numerous moments in where certain captures resonated a capture vectored by FUNI via photoshop. Moreover, I felt like I was watching an incredibly well done production by a Newgrounds flash animator.KaiserNeko wrote: I didn't think it was that badly animated. Again, the only real gem in this remake is the background music.

Guys I'm so sorry. I honestly do not have the time to read through so I am asking for your help.
1) Do you have to 'unlock' the vid or does it come as a menu option?
2) Is the exclusive game worth it?
I really really really appreciate the help and apologise in again for being painfull.

The feature is available right from the start. And my personal opinion is that if you're not going to enjoy the game, the special alone is not worth $60. It's rather cookie-cutter and short to boot. FUNimation hasn't ruled out the possibility of putting it out separately. In fact, they deliberately went out of their way not to rule that possibility out.
Not that the chances are likely, but it's possible that the game may not be the only way to watch this feature. I'm certainly crossing my fingers for a release with an English dub.

Is it just me, or were the subtitles themselves hard to read at times, I have an HDTV (only because my SD died finally, but I digress), and there were still instances where the subtitles were hard to make out over white/light colored backgrounds.
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

Whatever. It's not like you're the target audience for this, anyway; and I do intend on deleting it when/if an official release that doesn't imply buying a full game is out; I didn't even want to bring it up here at all. And we really shouldn't talk about illegal fansubbing in here, so let's just change the subject, 'k?Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:Compared to other fansubbed Anime, that's nothing. I don't like how the ghost warriors where killed off so easy in the remake version. I like it better in the original version where they found out thanks to King Kai.

Whilst it wasn't anything incredible, it was definitely an enjoyable little special which fixed many of the original's issues. The fight with Hatchiyak was definitely the high-point for me. That said, I think it could've benefited from 5 or 10 more minutes, just to help with pacing - I mean, at the absolute least it could've shown Goku and co. teleporting to and appearing on the Dark Planet, rather than just having them suddenly there. One thing that annoyed me a bit was that some of the lip syncing looked just a little bit off (usually in scenes where characters were moving). Overall, the animation was pretty nice - although I personally prefer the style used in the Jump Special.
One thing that I didn't understand though - why was every single beam used by Goyu and co. blue? I mean, okay Kamehameha makes sense...but Final Flash, Masenko, and Makankosappo too? In fact, every random energy blast they threw was blue. After watching the Anime and even looking at the coloured pages in the manga, this just feels wrong.
And Bulma was useful!

Why did FUNimation not license and English Dub this OVA?
Re: "Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans" Official Discussion
No official details have come to light over the subject. All we know is they don't have it and that is it.Baby Naruto wrote:Why did FUNimation not license and English Dub this OVA?

Anyone notice at the end of the movie there is a shot of Satan City. But, that particular city wasn't called Satan City until after the Cell games.
Re: "Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans" Official Discussion
Yeah, I remember mentioning that plothole on IRC. Though, is the reason WHY it's named Satan City mentioned in the manga/anime, or is it just a guidebook thing?
