I liked the OVA(probably the best part of Raging Blast 2), however I feel like this was a big F-you to Kai fans. I mean, this is what Kai could have been. I loved the music, the animation had it's rough spots but overall everything was good. My only complaint is that the voice acting felt weak. Granted the actors are getting old but for some reason, some parts felt weak(especially with Goku). Overall it's worth watching but I'd like to see an independent release.

While I really liked the color scheme, and it was pretty to watch, I still felt it was missing something. Though, I feel spoiled by all the humor in the Jump Tour special (and Goku messing with Vegeta for fun; I liked that so much), so maybe if I hadn't seen that first I'd have enjoyed this more?

I still think it's good that they're even animating any fresh DB at all; I'm really rooting for Toei to make a brand new 2-D animated DB movie before Kai finishes airing. I want something that merges the action sequences and vivid colors of "Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans" with the more fluid movement, humor, and sense of fun "Yo! Son Goku and Friends Return".

For me, I'm kind of mixed. I mean I enjoyed the beginning of the original being that Goku & Gohan are living their normal lives until King Kai warns them of what's going on. However, when cut out, it doesn't really hurt the story. Showing people all over the world dropping like flies kind of makes it seem like Movie 4; there's bad stuff going on all over the world, so Goku is obviously going to see what he can do about it.

I enjoyed that the Dark Planet was close to Earth. The thing I hated about the original was them getting sucked into a Black Hole and then a summary that basically said "So Goku and his pals got sucked into a black hole. They had many adventures but eventually got out and made their way to the Dark Planet." And then it opens with Goku and the gang wandering around Raichi's castle without showing any of what sounded like a badass situation for them to be in.

I guess I didn't mind them cutting out the destruction of the other 4 Destron Gas machines. I think they reused the same footage 2 or 3 times of bio-warriors getting killed. They just recolored the bio-warrior, pasted the death scene on the current background and hoped no one would notice. It also didn't make sense how when down to just 1 Destron Gas emitter, somehow the gas is stronger than even before when there was 5. Some of the fights were funny though, namely Piccolo's.

I do agree that it's a big F-you to Kai fans. While I enjoy Kai very much, new animation would have been nice. The fact that they didn't give this a Kai treatment and just remade it from scratch is kind of what I was hoping Kai would be. So I'm glad they actually remade this and I enjoyed the new animation and artwork.

All in all I couldn't really tell you which one I liked more. The original had some good parts that were fun to watch as well as funny, but the new version cuts out a lot of the useless bullshit that was in the original.

Having just finished watched the OVA about an hour and a half ago here are my thoughts.

Having watched the original it was nice that they jumped right to the point about the Gas. Everything moved very quickly along which was nice but at times it felt like things moved a bit to fast for my taste. I think the OVA would have benefited from an extra 15 minutes or so. To me it felt like a giant clip show of big fights.

Some of the animation just looked completely off and terrible. The voice acting was fine but most of the music felt lack luster. I only really liked a couple of tracks.

The best part of the OVA for me was when Bulma flew in her capsule airplane through Coola and Freeza. I laughed so hard the way she flew in between all of the villains.

Overall, in my opinion the OVA felt not as boring as the original but not great either. I would never watch it again though to be honest.

As for the new animation. Well personally I must be the minority but I prefer the older cell animation and not the newer age digital animation.

I don't see why people are making such a big deal about the animation? I think the hair color for the SSj transformation did look much better then it did in the 2008 Jump Special if you ask me.

Just finished watching it... Question... Weren't Freeza, Cooler, Tullece and Slug supposed to be killed again like they originally died, otherwise they would come back to life? Or was that in the original "Plan to ..."?
