Moments FUNimation's English Dub Did Better?

This is why I think the dub missed the mark on the first Super Saiyan transformation. Because it just focused on Goku's power being great, instead of this being a horrifying transformation of rage of a pure-hearted guy. The music in the dub says, "Look how badass Goku is becoming!" while in the Japanese version it's more like "Oh shit, we're all fucked!"

Well, I didn't feel that from the music in the original version. In fact, I didn't feel anything. The music was so bland, compared to other important moments in the series.

I agree 100%. Its why I dislike Faulconer sometimes. He changes the intended tone rather than complimenting it.

True, but he's sorta insane now. I much prefer the voices he used in the '80s and '90s. He's still fuckin' awesome, though.

The dub did nothing better. 'Better' is a descriptive in comparison to something. A dub would obviously be in comparison to the original but dubs are different by nature of no longer being the original. Therefore the question is really "What moments did you enjoy better in the FUNimation dub?"

I'd never say Kikuchi's score was ever bad. It was always appropriate and did it's job just fine. But I'll never really get why there's so much absolute adoration for it. I always felt that it was pretty standard fare for an 80s/90s cartoon.

I've mentioned SEVERAL times before, my undying love for Norio Wakamoto. I loved him as Cell, but I absolutely ADORE His Alexander Anderson!

I LOVE the Hellsing dub, think its absolutely amazing (I've noticed the best dubs are of shows set in the west...) but there is once voice I can't stand in English: Stephen Brand's Anderson, just because Wakamoto is THAT awesome in the Japaense role.

The guy does any role amazingly, he played the best damn Motorcycle I've ever seen...

I've been holding off on watching the Cell arc of Kai in Japanese because I want to Marathon it, I'm really excited to hear him do Cell again...

Let me put it this way. Do you remember the music in Yu Yu Hakusho? Do you remember the music in Flame of Recca?

I don't. I remember the music in DBZ.

It's not Yoko Kanno level quality, nor even Hiroshi Miyagawa or Michuru Oshima, but it's pretty damn excellent.
