Well, I didn't feel that from the music in the original version. In fact, I didn't feel anything. The music was so bland, compared to other important moments in the series.penguintruth wrote: This is why I think the dub missed the mark on the first Super Saiyan transformation. You didn't feel anything? The Kikuchi piece used was one of the most intense pieces in the series! And the power of the voice acting was staggering.

I agree 100%. Its why I dislike Faulconer sometimes. He changes the intended tone rather than complimenting it.This is why I think the dub missed the mark on the first Super Saiyan transformation. Actually, it had been used 32 times up to that point.
And even if it had been 3,000 times -- when music accentuates a scene, music accentuates a scene.

I love him as Cell, but I also love Clarke as Cell. I can watch either dub because of their performances.

True, but he's sorta insane now. I much prefer the voices he used in the '80s and '90s. He's still fuckin' awesome, though.penguintruth wrote:He's perfect in everything role he takes. Re: Moments FUNimation's English Dub Did Better?
The dub did nothing better. 'Better' is a descriptive in comparison to something. A dub would obviously be in comparison to the original but dubs are different by nature of no longer being the original. Therefore the question is really "What moments did you enjoy better in the FUNimation dub?"

I hate Japanese voices. I can't stand not knowing what they're saying, and how stupid they sound.

Don't get me wrong, Dameon Clarke is a pretty good actor, but I don't think he did the character better than Wakamoto. Especially with Z's old script...jjgp1112 wrote:Meh...he has a good voice, I guess...Chibi Mystic Gohan wrote:Have you watched the Cell arc in Japanese? Wakamoto must have a wicked voice, though, because even the dubbies on YouTube often say "Japanese Cell is awesome!"

I'd never say Kikuchi's score was ever bad. It was always appropriate and did it's job just fine. But I'll never really get why there's so much absolute adoration for it. I always felt that it was pretty standard fare for an 80s/90s cartoon.penguintruth wrote:You didn't feel anything? The Kikuchi piece used was one of the most intense pieces in the series! I've mentioned SEVERAL times before, my undying love for Norio Wakamoto. I loved him as Cell, but I absolutely ADORE His Alexander Anderson!Chibi Mystic Gohan wrote:Don't get me wrong, Dameon Clarke is a pretty good actor, but I don't think he did the character better than Wakamoto. I LOVE the Hellsing dub, think its absolutely amazing (I've noticed the best dubs are of shows set in the west...) but there is once voice I can't stand in English: Stephen Brand's Anderson, just because Wakamoto is THAT awesome in the Japaense role.
The guy does any role amazingly, he played the best damn Motorcycle I've ever seen...
I've been holding off on watching the Cell arc of Kai in Japanese because I want to Marathon it, I'm really excited to hear him do Cell again...

Let me put it this way. Do you remember the music in Yu Yu Hakusho? Do you remember the music in Flame of Recca?TonyTheTiger wrote:I'd never say Kikuchi's score was ever bad. I don't. I remember the music in DBZ.
It's not Yoko Kanno level quality, nor even Hiroshi Miyagawa or Michuru Oshima, but it's pretty damn excellent.
