It's pretty much the only reason why Vegeta keeps getting shafted, so yeah.
I think Vegeta getting the undeserving shafting that he gets if probably just karma for being an asshole for so many years. :/

Or Vegeta being Toriyama's least favourite character.

Well, Dragon Ball is the story of Goku and friends, not Vegeta and friends!

Dragon Ball is a story of Goku, his friends and Vegeta.

Vegeta and temporary, disposable allies. :D

Sounds like you're describing Dragon Ball GT, or the movies, actually. In any case, Dragon Ball was the story of the monkey-tailed Son Goku from day one. Were you expecting Vegeta to suddenly take over as the main character?

(Why, exactly, do you like this series, again?! Because of Chi Chi and Vegetto? Well, ya can't have either without Goku. :D)

Started from Saiyan Arc, Budokai 1. :P

And yes, Vegeta would've been better than the chucklefuck who did take over.

I don't really hate Goku, not like I hate the brats. It's just by the end of the series I was tired of him hogging everything.

See the World Tournament in the Buu arc. It sets up something interesting with Vegeta challenging Gohan who's being blackmailed by Videl and trying to keep his powers secret, and then HEY LET ME BUTT IN HERE A SEC IT'S ME GOKU YOU WEREN'T THINKING OF DOING ANYTHING WITHOUT ME WERE YOU?

Everybody else: OOOOH ~GOKUUU~ *throws panties*

Well, Goku did become pathetically bland and boring after the Saiyan arc.

Vegeta and Freeza hunting down friends!
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

Yeah, but those guys got most of the Namec/Androids arcs to themselves. Goku just saved the day, that's all!

He has his ups and downs. The only time I'd say he was really bland was during the Androids/Cell arc.

Anyway, that's enough off-topic-ness.

I think if Goku and Gohan went to fight Semi-Perfect Cell first then Cell would've definitely not attained his Perfect form. Goku may have tried to be merciful but I think Cell would be so Hell bent on becoming Perfect he'd have to end up killing him. So the Cell Saga would've ended there IMO.

And a complete jerk. He throws away the opportunity to kill Dr. Gero in favour of a good fight, leaves the fate of the planet up to his battle-shy son in the hope that he gets beaten up and flips out (yeah, the gamble paid off, but still, even after all those years the guy didn't even know his son didn't like fighting), actually wants to stay dead and let his wife and son suffer the grief of losing him for the second time, deliberately holds back from killing Boo with SSj3 because he "wants the younger generation to look after themself", letting innocent Earthlings get killed (hey, wait a second, I thought Gohan was supposed to be the hero? Oh, no, that's right, he's not a fighter and guess what? Goten and Trunks stopped training once they became teenagers and actually wanted to do something with their life!) and the end of the series, leaves his family again to train a Gohan clone.

But all this is mostly brushed aside by the excuse that "Oh, Goku's a battle-loving Saiyan, he's innocent and doesn't understand what he's doing". That still doesn't excuse him from being a jerk post-Freeza arc.

If you want to put a negative spin on everything, yeah, you could call him a jerk. But half of the stuff you mentioned isn't even bad! For instance, having Gohan fight Cell. In case you forgot, Goku couldn't kill Cell, even if he wanted to! And Goku not wanting to come back to life? He said it was because he was a magnet for evil! Obviously he couldn't see something unrelated to him, like Boo, coming.

And if you take Neko Majin Z's word for it, Goku brings Oob over to his house. Either way, he can teleport at any time, so he can always see his family. If he doesn't train Oob, who else is going to protect the Earth? Obviously none of the Saiyan kids want anything to do with it. They're the real jerks!

Yeah, I don't know why Goku didn't think "Hey, Vegeta's pretty much as strong as me, and since Gohan's gonna be a pansy, I should just let him protect the planet so I don't have to leave my family once again to train some random kid I think might be the reincarnation of my most taxing enemy."

Goku can visit his family in a snap, whenever he felt the need to, and the defining feature of Uub was that he was a good reincarnation of Buu.

I also highly doubt that Vegeta was "pretty much" as strong as Goku. >_>

I know, but still, I feel like the entire Oob thing could've been avoided if Goku just acknowledged Vegeta for once.

Hm?
