Raditz

What's your opinion on Raditz?

I thought, for the short time he was in the series, he was a genuinely threatening villain that acted as a nice set-up to the stronger threats that were to come. Plus, he was a good insight into the Saiyans, and his long hair's badass.

Oh, yeah.
Up until Vegeta landed he was my favorite character.
Which isn't very long, but...

Chiba Shigeru's a great Raditz and gives what a ten chapter chracter good prescenece. He isn't exactly the best character (he's more of a plot convenience), but he is nonetheless a good look into the general Saiyan's attitude.

Not to mention the whacky names the games give his techniques...

When making power level lists, I go with 1500 for Raditz.

Out of pity.

He's a great Dun DUN DUUUUUN!! plot device, and not too shabby as a 'mini-boss' character either.... there isn't much to him, but there doesn't need to be.

I like both his Japanese (it's that fun sort of really deep voice) and Funi dub voices, his crazy 80's-esque hair. Also the fact that his Japanese voice actor is the DBOX "ZA MOOOVIES" guy makes me laugh: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhPhwU3Nz1M

I think it's kind of a funny coincidence that his Ocean dub VA went on to play one of the main characters on Monk while that show as running. I've seen several hilarious drawings of what Raditz would look like in ssj3 by various artists.

That was kind of rambling, but yeah, Raditz was fun for the short while he was around.

He was cool but completely wasted, like King Cold..

?!?!?!?!?

I can't believe I never knew that they guy who played Lieutenant Disher voiced Raditz. That is pretty funny. I suppose that in many ways, Raditz is the Disher of the Saiyans.

I agree that he has a really great design. I wish that we knew a little more about him. I mean, he's only the main character's brother. On the other hand, I couldn't imagine the execution and general purpose of the character to be anything other than what we already have; to know more may be superfluous.

Raditz has always been one of my favorite B-list villains. I don't know if it's because he always seemed to have a lot of potential due to being the main character's brother (as well as a Saiyan), or if it's just the hair. I'm leaning towards hair. Still, he's usually one of my primary characters in whatever DBZ game my friends happen to be playing at the time, even though he's almost always severely under-powered.

This basically blew my mind. I had no idea that Lt. Disher did so many anime voice-overs.

Jason Gray-Stanford's Raditz is a real treat to listen to. I almost prefer it to Shigeru Chiba's performance, in a lot of ways. (Chiba was pretty awesome too, though.) I'll always treasure my Arrival tape, just because I'm blown away by Raditz there. Corny dialogue and all, that is Raditz, to me. (I'm not even that into the Ocean-voiced episodes, I just love this particular tape. Hey, maybe I should get those episodes on DVD...)

I like Justin Cook well enough, but... damn, his Raditz is just an awful Jason Stanford impression. But even ignoring the original voice, it's just pretty terrible on its own.

Ignoring the voices, Raditz is a pretty cool guy, even in the manga. It's pretty funny that he's a lot cockier than the other two Saiyans, even though he was weak enough that they could grow guys as strong as him. So much for being a "first-class warrior"... He did have some sweet looking fighting moves, though. But he severely underestimated his opponents, so he was killed. Maybe they should've sent Nappa, instead! Can you imagine that?

Nappa also underestimates his opponents, as seen when he thougt, he could tank Krillin's Kienzan without a scratch, when thinking Gohan was no match for him and when fighting Goku.

He also needed Vegeta to remind him that the Earthlings raise their BPs, in the middle of a fight, making their scouters useless.

I don't think Goku and Piccolo could have possibly won though, since his BP is at least 4000, but to me almost 8000.

Actually, come to think of it I think I'd like him more if I didn't have to fight have at the start of every fucking video game.

^ - He kills people.
- He ruined what looked like it would have been the only get-together Goku would have ever been willingly present at.
- By kidnapping Gohan.
- He's the cause of Goku's first death.
- He had that vegeta-grin....blerghh.

I don't mind him that much, but he could have been a better Vegeta than Vegeta.

He's garbage, just like Vegeta said lol. He was on a 10x gravity planet for his whole life, and only pooped out a powerlevel of 1500ish
