What happened to Vegeta's resolve to never fight again....?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

It could've meant something, but when we see Vegeta in the Boo arc we see that it was just a toss away comment. Nothing more.
And I didn't say it did.
I just gave a possible reason for Vegeta rekindling his fighting spirit, if he meant what he said about not wanting to fight anymore.
In the Buu arc he was purposefully training Trunks to surpass Gohan, so I see no flaws with my theory, if he really meant, what he said.

I don't see how it's even remotely something to be bothered about. I mean, it was firstly good to have him back. Secondly, I don't think that it would make anyone happier to see a fat Vegeta with a beer belly and a three day beard going around in the house all grumpy since he isn't getting any anymore from Bulma, who calls him tubby and pats him on his stomach, which in turn leads to her death, and then a very dark Buu Arc would commence (and start with a funeral).

To be serious, Vegeta didn't actually want to fight anyone but Goku, and everyone else he fought was due to:
1) He had to, to be able to fight Goku, and
2) He realized what a stupid fuck he had been and sacrificed himself, and
3) He was about to lose everything, his home planet, had lost his family ect. No damn idiot would let shit happen just because of some vow.

Secondly, he said that after Goku died for the second time, and there was no chance for him to be able to fight him again. Thus, he made such a comment, which he had to take back when he after all could fight Goku.
Except that at first, before Goku announced his arrival ,he was planning on fighting Gohanat the tournament.
You could say that he was replacing Goku through Gohan, but frankly I think he just couldn't stand the thought of someone else being stronger than, so I don't know how much you can blame that on Goku's death.

Maybe I worded this incorectly in my fisrt post, I DIDN'T actually expect him to keep this vow, it would've been the most brutal way to put a character on a bus (tv tropes). What I meant was, I expected that vow to play a part in his future character development. It just seemed too important at the time for it to be a simple "ah, he probably got over it in those 7 yeards". Oh well, I suppose another inconsistancy.

Is that in the anime? I don't remeber that in the manga. Doesn't Trunks say that he doesn't train with his father because he's too strong for him or something. Anyway , how couldn't he have known Trunks could turn super saiyan if he actually trained him?

As stated above ,I think Vegeta himself wanted to surpass Gohan.

It was stated by Bulma that Vegeta was training Trunks to surpass Gohan:
Strength Checker wrote:Chapter: 423 (DBZ 229), P2.4
Bulma: “[Vegeta] says he’s reached a good age to begin basic training, so he’s teaching him grappling. Apparently he wants to make Trunks even stronger than you.”

You're right, I founded it.

Though I still think planned on surpassing Gohan first .
