Deny them the ad revenue they need to continue bringing us these shows!

Yeah, it's not cool to block ads for free services. Do it for the ones on shady sites, or ads that bark at you about winning this or that. But don't do it when you're being offered something for free. Just sit through the 15 second ad and help the content distributors get a little something back for the bandwidth cost.

eh, you guys can but the world is too full of ads. For once, I don't want to see them and enjoy my leisure time.
I...Hate...Ads! They annoy me way to much with their flashy crap!
It's not like I would even click/go for the ads. Really no point if I wouldn't use it. Go ahead, you can sit through more ads, then watch 10 minutes of DB on TV with 20 minutes of ads; go right ahead!

Well, then stop watching these shows THAT REQUIRE AD REVENUE TO AIR. If you block their ads, they don't get the revenue to license, dub, and distribute the show to you FOR FREE. -FREE.-Attitudefan wrote:eh, you guys can but the world is too full of ads. Either you stop being impatient or the industry fails.

Don't you mean impatient? Attitudefan should sit through the ads to support the show, but he's not being greedy he just doesn't want to sit through ads. Also that's a pretty big ultimatum/hyperbole don't you think?KaiserNeko wrote:Either you stop being greedy or the industry fails.

AgitoZ is right. But over airing ads is greedy.... I just don't want to sit through them is right, others can though, I ain't stopping anybody.
I am actually quite surprised by the people supporting ads... I guess that's why we have plenty of them today. I buy DVD's and other merchandise from FUNi so I don't see a problem there, but I am PAYING for my internet right now and as we know, we will be paying for each website in the future (off topic, but that's what's going to happen)
I'll enjoy it while I can, and watching the English dub in Canada where it doesn't air on TV is good enough for me. I am not going to watch an American only ad if I live over the line. That's not going to happen tonight, that's not going to happen any night.
That is unless an Ocean dub comes out....

But no. It's not a hyperbole. If you can't sit 30 seconds through an ad for free content, then you don't deserve it. Flat. Out. These people NEED TO MAKE A LIVING. Money NEEDS to go to these shows. They don't just magically appear for everyone to watch and enjoy; they require ad revenue that can only be gained by those ads playing.
THIS. IS FREE. CONTENT. Those ads do get them ad revenue, but don't you WANT to support them the best you can?Attitudefan wrote:AgitoZ is right. But over airing ads is greedy...
Then you don't deserve to watch the content provided by that company. It's just the same as taking a DVD from a store; you offered nothing up to view that content, be it 30 seconds for the commercial or flat out money.I just don't want to sit through them is right, others can though, I ain't stopping anybody.

You guys are lucky you even get to watch free legal streams of Z Kai.
Re: Dragonball Kai (FUNimation English) Dub: General Discuss
Here, here. Some of us have to buy the DVDs or scour YouTube and feel like pirates (only to find it gets blocked by certain groups that no longer have the rights to do so, or to find multiple people making fake videos) just to watch the episodes at all.

It's thirty seconds ever ten or so minutes. Stop being a pussy and sit through it.

If somebody don't want to watch the ads, then they just don't want to. There shouldn't be a debate about them not deserving to watch the Free Content, since they're not binded by law or anything to watch something they don't want to watch.
Although I do think that it would be for the best, if you support this product in any way possible(and ads aren't that hard to cope with, honestly..), claiming that they don't deserve to watch it, because they're impatient and comparing it to shop lifting is taking it a bit too far.

But it's really not going too far. He doesn't have to actually pay attention to the ads. Just letting then play is the bare minimum that is being required here for companies to provide you free content. If you block those ads, you are breaking the system and essentially stealing.dbgtFO wrote:If somebody don't want to watch the ads, then they just don't want to. Honest to God, I don't see why this is even up for debate.
Edit: Just thought, maybe you didn't pick up on he fact that they're paid for everytime the ad shows and that, if the ad is blocked, it doesn't count it.

I still don't want to say that he has to watch them or else he doesn't deserve it(even though it isn't that hard), since it's his personal opinion, that he just doesn't want to.
Also, anyone who is interested in this off topic discussion should read this http://arstechnica.com/business/news/20 ... u-love.ars it's quite interesting, if you didn't know about it beforehand!

I know it's not particularly about video ads, but the idea carries over.

Re: Dragonball Kai (FUNimation English) Dub: General Discuss
See, the issue is that these companies are providing us with something we would have to otherwise pay for, essentially free, using advertisers. This is a system built to supply demand in a way that keeps their business running. The ad gets viewed, the company supplying content gets paid, the company keeps supplying content. If people decide to break that system en mass, well, there goes that content. Congratulations, you no longer get to watch steaming media because you didn't want to let a couple ads run.VegettoEX wrote:Eh.KaiserNeko wrote:Honest to God, I don't see why this is even up for debate.

The idea that it's the company's fault for not having a business model that people agree to doesn't work for me. It's such a minute trade, it's unobtrusive, and if you don't like it? Go purchase the DVDs. Usually, those only have trailers at the beginning.
Again, just think of it this way. "I want to watch Ouran High School Host Club, but I don't agree with paying $39.99 for the boxset. So, I'm going to pirate/bootleg it instead."

The thing I don't get is, if I am not going to even bother to pay attention to the Ad why should I even bother to sit through it then? Is it benefiting me? No. Is it benefiting the advertiser? No. Okay if the air the ad Nicktoons will still get money, I think. But really what's the point? I feel like I have a hole in my pocket, and you guys are defending the big guys (CEO's that are overpaid
). That's going a little off topic and I don't care to watch ads. Now, Youtube ads are even worse, the person who has the video isn't even making money most of the time.... yeah, that's fair.
Like I said before, here we small guys are, always paying for the big boys, yet you guys are defending them?!? I don't get it?
Bu please, lets focus back to the topic.

Nicktoons gets money from the ad owner every single time it plays. That was already explained.
