Most Ridiculous Plot Boost!

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Personally, i don't find anything ridiculous about power boosts.

Strength Checker wrote:
Chapter: 28, P11.4-5
Context: after Goku runs 100 meters with new shoes
Kame-sennin: “Eigh…8.5 seconds…”
Goku: “Is that fast!?”
Kuririn: "What kind of training did you do…?”

Strength Checker wrote:
Chapter: 295 (DBZ 101), P1.4, P2.1-5, P3.1
Nail: “I-I’m astonished…I don’t know what kind of training you’ve done, but you’ve acquired unbelievable power…Still, it’s unfortunate…If you had only returned to the original, single Namekian you were, you might have been able to defeat even Freeza…”[...]
From these two examples it would seem that Toriyama makes characters say the bolded lines, when they have been surpassed.
Krillin said more or less the same thing when Piccolo fought against A-20.

True. What those quotes really tell me is that the characters, who said it are so impressed by what they have just seen/felt whatever, that it's something they don't believe would be possible with any training method what so ever.

Yep! That attack would have insta killed Freeza and how much force can it really produce?
I mean the last time we saw it, it didn't have any effect on Nappa and now the only thing, that is shown differently is, that it fires contionous blasts of Kikoho and nothing is actually stated about it having some gigantic power boost on top of it or anything, so it's basically the same as Kikoho, just contionously!

Another Fun fact:
Tenshinhan flew as fast as fused Piccolo, when they were chasing down Cell. :P

No, it's not. The Shin Ki-Ko-Ho is a haxxed uber-powerful Ki-Ko-Ho, which has nothing to do with his regular battle power. And besides, it only served its purpose to hold back Cell from absorbing #18. It's not as if Toriyama thought about what it may or may not imply.

That's just your opinion.

Tenshinhan holding back Cell doesn't mean that he is stronger than Freeza.

...Yes, that's what I said. I don't think Tenshinhan's stronger than Freeza. What are you on about?

Fine. And I think the Shin Ki-Ko-Ho, like most other amplifying techniques, is just super-powerful and has nothing to do with his battle power.

Ok,you are entitled to your opinion.Simply you shouldn't state your opinion as a fact.
Personally, i think there is a proportional relationship between Shin Ki-Ko-Ho and Ten's BP
like most other amplifying techniques.

I thought it was clear that I was stating as my own opinion.

Well, "No, it's not. The Shin Ki-Ko-Ho is a haxxed uber-powerful Ki-Ko-Ho, which has nothing to do with his regular battle power."
your sentence sounded like a declaration of fact.
Nice to know anyway that's just your opinion.
Another Fun fact:

Really?I thought that they were holding back at that point, cos Cell could sense them.
Tenshinhan (with a fuzzy aura)also flew almost as fast as Piccolo, when they fought A-17.

If they were holding back they would have stated it. In fact as soon as they arrived in the city, they said, that if they didn't fly all out, that they would be too slow. Or something like that...

He was actually slower in that case, since Piccolo reached A 17 first.

See what dbgtFO said. And obviously, it would be stupid if Piccolo just took off ahead of Tenshinhan, Tenshinhan ended up finding Cell but couldn't do shit because Cell would escape before Piccolo got there in time.

I corrected my sentence"...Tenshinhan (with a fuzzy aura)also flew almost as fast as Piccolo, when they fought A-17..."

Regarding the Kikoho, it's stated that it uses the life force of the user, so whatever energy used in it comes from the user, and is not high just because of the technique's qualities.
Tenshinhan may have trained to make his energy reserves bigger to be able to handle the Shin Kikoho.

It uses Energy(stated by Kame-Sennin), which is the same as ki, stated in Daizenshuu 7.

Ki[Qi] = Life force according it's ancient Chinese roots.
Nevertheless it means that Tenshinhan used ki that he already had. Which was my point.

Then why not just say that it uses ki? Instead of confusing people :P

Haha, well, mainly because of that the Swedish translation uses the Swedish equivalent of Life force. So It's pretty much out of habit. :P
