Preferring the English Dub of Kai (Foreign Fan)
I still can`t believe i say it,but, for Kai,i really prefer English dub, yes, there are still some miscasts, like Recoom or Kaio, but,on the other hand, you have wonderful Monica Rial,Colleen Clickenbeard and Chris Ayers. Japanese Kai,compared to Z,is very bland, most actors sem like they dont care.

Re: Am i the only one,who prefer English dub?
The English dub is great for Kai, but most of the Japanese VAs are still superior, even the tired ones. It's not like Schemmel became better than Nozawa and Ayres is better than Nakao. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

I can't believe that you've missed all the praise the dub has gotten. For many people, the dub is the only reason thy watch Kai. You're far from the only one.coola wrote:I still can`t believe i say it,but, for Kai,i really prefer English dub, yes, there are still some miscasts, like Recoom or Kaio, but,on the other hand, you have wonderful Monica Rial,Colleen Clickenberg and Chris Ayers. Re: Am i the only one,who prefer English dub?
Kai's dub is better than Z's by far. You still have some miscasts (Schemmel's Kaio, Sabat's Recoome, Liebrecht's Jeice), but other than that the returning cast have gotten better, and most of the new voices are better. Sean Schemmel's Goku is the best of the returning cast. I believe that his performance surpasses Masako Nozawa's phoned in performance in every regard (no disrespect for the woman, but her Adult Goku sucks, and I've made it known here. Her Kid Goku is awesome though.) As for the new voices the best is Chris Ayres as Freeza. He is as good if not a tiny bit better than Ryusei Nakao is in the role. Ayres' Freeza is everything I wanted for him to be unlike Linda Young's tranny portrayal.
Nozawa's Adult Goku is just as unfitting as Linda Young's Freeza is.

Re: Am i the only one,who prefer English dub?
I enjoy the Kai dub more to be honest.
Not because I think it actually trumps the Japanese version, that would be a bit much to say.
But I've seen this material in Japanese so many times... the shorter, less-fillery direction of Kai is amazingly awesome, but at the end of the day, it's mostly the same Japanese cast I've been watching for Years now being pretty much as Stellar as they always have been.
The Dub being amazingly awesome this time around, and, you know, watchable, makes it like a new experience, which makes me really enjoy the hell out of watching it.

When I watch this show, I don't compare it to the "original." I compare it to Dragon Ball. For that reason, yes, I "prefer"(like) the English dub.

This is pretty much how I feel about it, too.DemonRin wrote:I enjoy the Kai dub more to be honest.

The English Dub is the only reason why I watch Kai, I've seen the Japanese version 20X over.

Yes,i readed plenty positive opinions about English dub,but i was curious how you mark it when compare with original version. I hope you know what i mean,my English slowly get better, but it still can be badGreat Saiyaman I wrote: I can't believe that you've missed all the praise the dub has gotten. Re: Preferring the English Dub of Kai (Foreign Fan)
To be honest? Whether or not the fact that the dub is actually better in Kai over the Japanese is actually debatable
(And I'm laughing to the fact it may be actually debatable! [While Z Dub fans.. just ..no..no.)
The one voice I actually prefer in English? Get ready to stop me, Freeza's.
Ayres to me bring not only as PenguinTruth and others have called an "Aristocratic Villain" but for me a lot of times even comparing him to Nakao (At least in Kai), he does actually sound menacing, especially in his 2nd and 3rd forms.
Ayres actually and finally in English gets across that Freeza is the one villain, above all else, you serious don't want to fuck with; he can actually be... scary.
...I'm still talking about the Dub right?

Er...I don't wanna be that guy but this could have gone here http://daizex.fanboyreview.net/viewtopi ... 16&t=10068 just for future reference.
As for the topic itself I'm glad the dub fans are getting the proper script for once. I personally can't enjoy Kai too much thanks to some glaring issues that it has. I'll be interested to see general opinion once Kai's dub is finished and settled in. I think some people are excited about a better dub that isn't some serious balls but I have to wonder if some of it isn't puppy love. I still find it to be a C- dub overall. (Which does much better than its "F" Z counterpart.)

I still strongly feel that Sabat's Piccolo is the most-improved of the returning FUNimation cast.
