What reason does Raditz have to lie?
He does not want to be grouped together with his weakass bro IMO.

Yeah, after Planet Vegeta's destruction.

I don't really see anything to support that. I just think it's a bit of a stretch. Just because he may or may not have been sent off to a weak planet as a baby doesn't mean he's suddenly just as crappy as Goku. They are both low-class Saiyans, only Goku's much weaker. Why should he care anyway? He's just explaining their story to him and only came to Earth to recruit him into conquering that planet they were having trouble with.

We don't have any reason to assume Raditz was suddenly lying to explain away something that probably wasn't even planned that far ahead. We don't even hear about classes until Vegeta's speech to Goku before their battle, and before that, Vegeta and Nappa are just Saiyans who are stronger than Raditz.

Of course it is. I'm trying to give my own desperate explanation of a supposed plothole, so it'll end up as a stretch sooner or later. :D

Well, its not like Goku could have been any help. He had no tail, and a power level of 422..

Goku's battle power was 416. But Raditz didn't know how strong Goku was, nor if he had a tail or not.

@Herms, do you think Super Saiyan Bardock could possibly be the true legendary Super Saiyan, according to your timeline and the one of the Episode Of Bardock by Ooishi Naho? Thanks.

Bardock was never a Super Saiyan to begin with, Episode of Bardock is just a what-if scenario.

Not according to the magazine, it shares the same continuity as the Bardock TV special. You can chose not to include it in your personal canon if you want, but that doesn't change the fact that Episode of Bardock is still described as a sequel to the television special and not a what-if.
Direct translations of the Korean DB Online timeline and guidebook.
My personal "canon" and BP list. (Coming Soon)

Hrm if he is I doubt it ties directly into the anime canon necessarily.

For example Vegeta basically implies the Legendary Super Saiyan to be this terrible thing of some sort. Basically when he breaks down emotionally after discovering Broly is the Legendary Super Saiyan always implied, to me, that to a Saiyan the REAL Legendary Super Saiyan would be something to fear.

But I dunno, I don't think there is any indications that he's going to become this.

Well it's possible, but we're really going to have to wait for the final chapter to know.

In the main series Vegeta just says the Super Saiyan will be stronger than any other Saiyan could be, but Ginyu says the Super Saiyan is supposed to love slaughter and destruction, and that Goku's too nice to be one. Bardock does wipe out planets for a living, so that description could fit him, but I do kinda doubt Naho's going to conclude the mini-series by having Bardock become an unstoppable destructive force. Seems too dark for her. But she could make Bardock a nice(r) Super Saiyan and still have the legend be based on him, and then just explain away/ignore the inconsistencies. But again, we'll just have to wait and see.
