Is this what happened to Goku in DBGT? Goku and Jesus
According to Christians, Jesus Christ died for our sins, rose from the dead, ascended to Heaven, and will return (Second Coming).
So, is that what happened to Goku in GT? Did the GT writers just use the Christian story of Jesus? I'm thinking they did.
I think that Goku died for the characters' sins (the sin being overuse of the Dragon Balls), rose from the dead (that would MAYBE explain the "huh?...who are you?" line from the last Dragon (forgot his name), and the "Goku... are you?" phrase used by Vegeta, Piccolo, and Muten Roshi), ascended to Heaven (went with the Dragon), and will return someday (when the people need him again).
LOL... what do you think? PLEASE don't be offended by what I've written. I'm just trying to make sense of something that was basically left open to interpretation (the ending of GT).
BTW, I'm not Christian. Also, I don't like GT, and I don't consider it canon.

Seems more like Goku's fate is based on King Arthur. Broli is obviously the one based off Jesus; he has his own Second Coming, after all.

Re: Is this what happened to Goku in DBGT? Goku and Jesus
I wrote that because I don't like GT. It's a cheap shot. Happy? Why don't I like GT? I don't like GT because Akira Toriyama had little to do with it. My definition of canon is "the works of a particular author or artist that are recognized as genuine." Is GT the work of Akira Toriyama? Nope. Therefore, I (key word "I") don't consider it canon. I doubt that Akira Toriyama would've ended the series in such a way.lash wrote:Why do people always feel the need to make a note to say this?FreezaSama wrote:, and I don't consider it canon.
Really? What wasn't sincere? How is giving my thoughts on what happened to Goku and looking for feedback insincere?Savage68 wrote:Because nothing in that post was sincere.

OK and what does that have to do with whether or not the GT writers used or were influenced by the story of Jesus?Fox666 wrote:Jesus? Pff, my only god is Goku

Basically every hero in Dragonball dies for the sins of mankind (the villains show traits of the seven deadly sins), rises from the dead and returns.FreezaSama wrote:According to Christians, Jesus Christ died for our sins, rose from the dead, ascended to Heaven, and will return (Second Coming).
I think they were out of ideas and wanted to incorporate some kind of ending with Goku and Shenlong (since they are the core of Dragonball, basically). So they were probably like "what about fusion?" and decided that since Vegeta already had fused with Goku (and was, in fact, a good father), he was out of the question. So it had to be Shenlong.FreezaSama wrote: So, is that what happened to Goku in GT? Did the GT writers just use the Christian story of Jesus? I'm thinking they did.
I think it was more like "Goku...are you finally going away for good?" in that he always goes away after a huge fight;FreezaSama wrote: I think that Goku died for the characters' sins (the sin being overuse of the Dragon Balls), rose from the dead (that would MAYBE explain the "huh?...who are you?" line from the last Dragon (forgot his name), and the "Goku... are you?" phrase used by Vegeta, Piccolo, and Muten Roshi), ascended to Heaven (went with the Dragon), and will return someday (when the people need him again).
1) Vs. Piccolo Daimao: Trained with Kami
2) Vs. Piccolo Jr: Went away with Chichi
3) Vs. Freeza: Escaped to Yadrat
4) Vs. Cyborgs: Escaped into comaland
5) Vs. Cell: Died
6) Vs. Fat Buu: Used up his 1 day
7) Vs. Kid Buu: Stayed, but still left after the 28th Tenkaichi Budokai
Ok.FreezaSama wrote: BTW, I'm not Christian. Also, I don't like GT, and I don't consider it canon.
Eh, basically in the end of every arc, Goku disappears in many imaginative ways. So, yeah. Toriyama could have thought up something similar.FreezaSama wrote: I doubt that Akira Toriyama would've ended the series in such a way.
I don't see what in your original post was in any way related to humor, and being so funny that one would laugh out loud, but I'll share my own idea with you:FreezaSama wrote: LOL... what do you think?
I think that the ending of DBGT was linked to much more than the Bible's stories. I think that it was a retelling of the creation of the Universe.
In some way, one of the writers of DBGT must have been involved with Illuminati, a rumored secret society that is known to have altered history as we know it. What I mean is that they have taught us history all wrong, and that they know the true history that preceded us.
It's rumored that in this "true history" (a friend of mine that had a cousin that worked as a janitor at Illuminati's secret headquarters has heard things, so bear in mind that he may have remembered wrong) the Universe was created by two different Universes, both being created with different kind of energy as their base (materia and anti-materia) collided and created yin and yang.
Before this, there was a big unbalance in both universes, and the creatures suffered from the negative effects of the radiation from the very energy they were created from.
When materia and anti-materia collided, peace finally arrived, and life in a form of perfection and evolution appeared.
So in other words, Goku (yin) and Shenron (yang) collided to create one entity; peace and balance. We got a permanent Yinyang. This is one of the cornerstones that Chinese culture is based on (although it's limited to describing Yin and Yang as separate entities, since it's outdated). High Chinese officials know that however. In other words, China is Illuminati. And they are fooling the whole world.

But there was one "sin" in particular that the characters had to deal with in GT: the overuse of the Dragon Balls. Goku paid for it the most.Basically every hero in Dragonball dies for the sins of mankind (the villains show traits of the seven deadly sins), rises from the dead and returns.

True, but what I mean is that I think Toriyama would've done it better.Eh, basically in the end of every arc, Goku disappears in many imaginative ways. So, yeah. Toriyama could have thought up something similar.

Re: Is this what happened to Goku in DBGT? Goku and Jesus
There was a semi-recent topic about how the final battle of GT is actually very similar to yet another old Chinese fairy tale. Events like Goku swallowing the Dragon Ball and then seeming to die but then coming back were apparently near-perfect parallels to this story. For the life of me, though, I can't seem to find it.

I'll always remember the discovery of the theory that the ending of DBGT was loosely based on a particular Chinese legend because it was really easy to draw comparisons. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the story.
Re: Is this what happened to Goku in DBGT? Goku and Jesus
I was just trying to make a point in that there is no way we know why they chose that ending, and that the reasons why can be endless. And also to link Goku with Jesus is a bit absurd. Just like my made up story.FreezaSama wrote: You lost me there.

I found it! It's a Chinese folktale called "Xiao Sheng and the Dragon's Pearl."Kaboom wrote:There was a semi-recent topic about how the final battle of GT is actually very similar to yet another old Chinese fairy tale. There are different versions of the story but the connections still apply in them.
- The main character, Xiao Sheng, stumbled upon a rare item known as the Dragon Pearl and the landlord attempted to take it from the him. The landlord would be Yi Xing Long in this case, but remember how Toriyama based Freeza on landlords of the 80's during Japan's economic crisis? Irony? Maybe.
- Instead of handing it over, Xiao Sheng swallows it and his stomach went on fire. The ball Goku swallowed was the 4-Star Ball which contained Si Xing Long, the dragon of fire.
- To cool his stomach, he drinks all the water at a nearby river and grows so large that he becomes more than a boy; he becomes a dragon. When Goku comes back from the brink with the Super Ultra Spirit Bomb, Pan says that he looks like a god. Also, in Chinese Xiao Sheng can translate to "Miniature/Little God".
- Xiao Sheng, now a dragon, unleashed a flood that drowned the landlord and his men and healed the land of it's drought, restoring the paddy fields and rivers to full health again. Goku, before he becomes one with Sheng Long, wishes that the Earth is restored with everyone who died during the Evil Dragon calamity coming back to life.
- With his work done, Xiao Sheng decides to take a sad leave from his mother and the dragon swims down the river. To this day, the stretch of it is called the Wang Niang Tan - Looking Back at Mother Bends. As Goku left, we're shown a flashback of his life from his meeting with Bulma and co., followed by the meeting with Roshi and Krillin, then Piccolo.

Re: Is this what happened to Goku in DBGT? Goku and Jesus
Thaaaat's what I was thinking of. I could probably find the prior mention of it myself now, since I have the character names. Gonna copy-paste this mofo for GTR...
I'd say it's at least worth an addendum to the "End of GT" article. The two stories seem way too similar to be coincidental, so it's probably worth a mention.NeoKING wrote:(Wonder if this stuff is tidbit or front page worthy for Daizex? Then again, it does concern to GT :X. Lol, jk.)

I'm frankly baffled that people think the two stories are remotely similar.
