My brother came back home safely and finally I could sleep for hours. No food at nearby supermarkets.

Re: Japan Earthquake Magnitude 8.9
My thoughts go out to the people of Japan is this trying hour.
In keeping this up to date, it seems there's been an explosion in the nuclear plant where the cooling wasn't working. It has resulted in a massive increase in radiation leaking...

A plant exploded? I can't find it on YouTube anywhere.. It must be recent.. o.oNils_McCloud wrote:My thoughts go out to the people of Japan is this trying hour.

My YouTube
Soppa Saiyjins from Dorgou Ballru Zetto is my favorite transformation everah, especially when Trounksoru did it in front of Seru and when Bejita did it when he faced Jingonigen-hachigo. But for real, I use the FUNi pronunciation. - Soppa Saia People

Read up on the disaster of Chernobyl. Reports are stating that if the problem is not solved in due time, the situation will escalate into something far worse than that of Chernobyl.AnimeMaakuo wrote:
You think they'll get the Nuclear thing fixed in time? What will happen if it explodes? Radiation right?
Chernobyl
My thoughts and prayers go out to those in Japan. Goodluck to everyone.

Not entirely, but the outer shell has been blast off, leaving only the 'skelleton' of the structure and meltdown has most likely taken place.AnimeMaakuo wrote:A plant exploded? It's the Fukushima I reactor, FYI.
EDIT: from wikipedia:
A large explosion took place at the Fukushima I plant on 12 March at 15:36 local time. Several workers were reported to be injured. Pictures broadcast on Japanese television appeared to show the outer structure of one of the buildings had collapsed, releasing a large cloud of dust and vapor. The Kyodo News and Jiji Press services reported that the plant may have experienced a nuclear meltdown just before the explosion. The blast was described as "huge" and "massive". A BBC journalist reported being stopped 60 kilometers from the blast site by police.
At 03:07 JST (12:37 GMT) Reuters reported that TEPCO planned to cool the leaking reactor with sea water, using Boric acid to prevent a criticality accident. However, at 23:00 JST (14:00 GMT) TEPCO announced that due to the quake at 22:15 the filling of the reactor with sea water and boric acid had been stopped.

Re: Japan Earthquake Magnitude 8.9
Really? I was watching the news all day yesterday and everyone constantly stated that it would be disastrous, but not quite the disaster that Chernobyl was. Can't recall the reasoning for those statements however. Really hope they get them under control ASAP though, because even if they were right about it not being quite like Chernobyl, that's still definitely not a good thing.Snail wrote:Read up on the disaster of Chernobyl. Re: Japan Earthquake Magnitude 8.9
Chernobyl was a fundamentally different type (read: older and less reliable) of reactor than Fukushima. Most sources I heard say that because of this, a disaster the scale of Chernobyl is not likely.
They're still quite desperate though. They were trying to submerge the reactor with sea water and boric acid (since stopped due to aftershocks). This is truly desperate, because doing this eleminates every possibility of ever fully repairing the reactor.

Yeah, that's what I thought it was. Just didn't want to say so incorrectly and spread misinformation.Nils_McCloud wrote:Chernobyl was a fundamentally different type (read: older and less reliable) of reactor than Fukushima. Norio Wakamoto is confirmed to be alive and is apparently helping out with relief efforts according to 2ch (not entirely sure on the 2ch thing):

Great guy. Awesome to know that he's helping out.
Also, as with everyone else, my thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Japan and their country. Hopefully they can get through this nightmare...

Any radioactive pollution from the explosion at the Fukushima nuclear power plant will likely be blown out over the Pacific Ocean, thanks to favourable winds, says the French Nuclear Saety Authority.

Now that there's a meltdown, the rescue efforts in the area are having a really rough time. And then there's several trains missing, and one is a bullet train with 400 people on board. This keeps getting worse and worse...

Re: Japan Earthquake Magnitude 8.9
I do find it funny that people think that this earthquake is link up the end of the world in 2012
. I mean it's not like Earthquakes like this happen before. In 1908, a similar Earthquake happen as well and killed over 7 million people in Messina. So far the 1960 Valdivia earthquake is the largest earthquake in history with a magnitude of 9.5.

A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Wow, I just read all of those FB comments. "kuso no baka", as the Japanese would say, I believe. I can't believe how stupid people can be, going off spouting that kind of nonsense. And the bigotry. I didn't see this kind of hate when Haiti had their quake.CatouttaHell wrote:http://i.imgur.com/rJIpI.jpg <-- stupid fucking Americans
My well-wishes to all in Japan, including fellow readers and posters here, as well as all of the Seiyuus (go Wakamoto, lending a hand!). Keep pushin' on, and bounce back and show us the resilience of Japan!

Good god, I feel like smacking those people in the face so hard. It's like most Americans don't care for anything then themselfs. What surprises me that people are still mad over Pearl Harbor which happen over 70 years ago?

Sick. How can these people be so gleeful over the misery of others?CatouttaHell wrote:http://i.imgur.com/rJIpI.jpg
It’s pretty stupid too; just about every country has done questionable things in history. It was 70 years ago. Time to move on.
Oh, there was bigotry and hate spat out during that crisis, sadly. Horrible people.Vernichter wrote:I didn't see this kind of hate when Haiti had their quake.
