How old were you when you first got into Dragon Ball?

I was around four I believe, that's when I became a fan. I knew it was though around three years of age.

It was in the summer of 2008 when I was 17. I was looking for a new Anime to watch, and decided with Dragon Ball as it was a show I knew of when I was a kid, but never watched due to my Pokemon addiction. I started with the Saiyan saga then went back and watched Dragon Ball, and then went from there.

When Toonami first aired it, I think, around 1998. I was 8 years old back then.

I got into Dragon Ball when I was eight years old. At the time I had gotten into it, fake namek filler was playing. I had seen bits and pieces of the Saiyan arc before this but I wasn't into hardcore action shows at the time so I didn't really dig it at first. I loved how the fake namek filler captured a fun adventurous feel that that rest of the Z portion didn't capture. Untill this, I was watching older more adventurous shows like the Smurfs on Cartoon Network and other more Cartoon-Cartoon comedic stuff such as Cow & Chicken as well as Dexter's Lab. Without the fake Namek filler, I probaly wouldn't have got myself into the awesomeness that is Dragon Ball Z or even Dragon Ball. I know one of my friends got into the orginal Dragon Ball series around eleven because it wasn't as hardcore and serious in comparison to Z, so maybe that could have helped if it wasn't for the fake Namek filler.

Back in 1992 when I was an 11 year old illiterate (at Chinese) and was basically a typical white-washed CBC, I remember demanding my dad for a Street Fighter 2 t-shirt from Hong Kong. Got a little pissed that I didn't get what I wanted cuz he brought me a Dragon Ball t-shirt. Hadn't even heard of Dragon Ball back then so it was fairly insignificant to me for a number of years. Then I moved to Scarborough and started meeting Hong Kong fobs (and for those of you not in the know, the definition of a "fob" stands for "fresh off the boat". In other words, immigrants). One particular fellow lent me an ani-manga edition of the Bardock TV special. Based on the fact that I couldn't read Chinese at the time. I had spent countless hours deciphering the book which was printed in Chinese. Enjoyed it immensely and bought a random volume of the tankoubon (which was actually volume 37). Then I realized it made no sense to me so I went out to the manga rental store and rented volume 1 onwards. Alotta fun back then as I would rent a volume every couple of days.

I probably wouldn't be able to read Chinese if it weren't for Dragon Ball. And to add an ironic twist to this fact, the manga that parodied Jackie Chan at one point eventually got me to actually work for Jackie Chan for a few years. (Check the Hong Kong DVD releases of his films "The Myth" and "Rob-B-Hood". Special features translated and subtitled into English all thanks to yours truly!)

And just to save ourselves from going off-topic, I was technically 13 years old when I got into Dragonball.

Around 8 years old. When Dragonball Z was airing on the dutch Cartoon Network in 2000-2001(a dutch subbed Funimation dub till episode 104, after that we got a dutch subbed canadian ocean dub).
I didn't like it at first, but I became a fan about the time when Vegeta defeated Zarbon. After episode 150(when Cell announced the Cell Games to Trunks), the show was put "on hold" in the Netherlands, because Cartoon Network was transformed into MTV. It started to re-air in june 2002 on the Yorin channel, and from that moment onward, many of my friends started getting hooked to the show too.

Ah the good old times

2 episodes every day at 5:00-5:50 pm , always going to the house of "the friend with the largest television screen" to watch it with all my classmates
