Shin Budokai 2:Canon?
Does anyone consider the story canon?
I sure do, i think it is a great story, and i could be used on a future game to introduce Super Saiyan 3 Trunks.

Because it does not interfere in the main story, and i really like the concept of Buu in Trunk`s timeline.Piccolo Daimao wrote:Uh...no. Why would you?
Anyway, my canon is a bit strange, so i understand why this may sound wierd.

Since when is canon a matter of opinion?

Re: Shin Budokai 2:Canon?
Since nothing has ever been said about what is or isn't canon by anyone of authority over the series, including Toriyama. You can say that the manga is the sole canon because it was the original work or whatever you want, but it has never been confirmed.smiley wrote:Since when is canon a matter of opinion?

I still don't think that makes anything and everything fair game, though. But that's just me.

I don't think it makes everything fair game either. It isn't like I'm saying Goku going off to have a tea party with a rubber man and a giant dragon after he fought some cyborgs is canon. Some of the media out there depicting new or alternate stories are so full of contradictions that they would never fit in the main story. But if something like a game offers of a decent storyline with relatively few contradictions, I see no reason one couldn't accept it as canon if they want. In the case of Shin Budokai 2, the only thing we know happened after Trunks defeated Cell in his timeline is that he formed the Time Patrol (which is also from a game), so throwing a battle with Buu in between wouldn't be that horrible. In my personal opinion, Shin Budokai 2's story was actually a gigantic clusterfuck... but I guess that's beside the point.

Honestly, I agree. It could have been handled much better, but if the original poster likes it, then more power to him.Chibi Mystic Gohan wrote:In my personal opinion, Shin Budokai 2's story was actually a gigantic clusterfuck... but I guess that's beside the point.
Re: Shin Budokai 2:Canon?
Could someone please give short summary as to what happens in this game? The only think that I could find on the internet was that Majin Buu escpaes in Future Trunks timeline. I find that pretty interesting.
I don't play games but I often look into the "What if" stories on youtube.

Re: Shin Budokai 2:Canon?
Is this where that rumour comes from ?Babidi manages to take control of Piccolo,
What? How does taking control of Piccolo lead to clones?and in doing so, creates clones of the Z Fighters, Frieza and Cell to stop Future Trunks and the Z Fighters

Re: Shin Budokai 2:Canon?
I think that rumor started before the game was ever released, but I could be wrong. As for the clones, Babidi + magic = not having to make sense I guess.
Re: Shin Budokai 2:Canon?
No, there was also a game from the 90s, which had Piccolo falling under the "Majin Spell(wasn't it Super Butoden 2?)."Michsi wrote:Is this where that rumour comes from ?Babidi manages to take control of Piccolo,
So it most likely originated from there or was influenced by it.

Re: Shin Budokai 2:Canon?
The story line is basically a repeat of the Buu saga (except Future Trunks is there, and Goten/Trunks never fuse), even down to Vegeta becoming Majin (for the same stupid reason, then he tries to kill Fat Buu; as if he hasn't learned already).
The only unique thing about it is that, Babidi makes clones of fighters from Piccolo's memories (now there's 100% Frieza's, Cooler's, Meta-Cooler's, LSSJ Broly's, and Super Perfect Cell's running around, as well as the Z-fighters themselves). It's pretty cheap.

Re: Shin Budokai 2:Canon?
I always thought that these games were a great opportunity to invent new interesting scenarios, like a movie in the form of a game but they always choose to do different versions of the already existing arcs.
The plan to eradicate the saiyans is the closest thing to a completely new game-story that I know of.

Re: Shin Budokai 2:Canon?
There's also crap like Burdock coming back from the dead to fight, or something like that. Terrible story. They just wanted an excuse to stick all of their fighters into the plot somehow.

Wait, so this story takes place after the Main Story's Buu Arc?Dragon Ball Wikia wrote:[...]Vegeta lets himself fall to Babidi's spell again.
If so, it really makes Vegeta look like an imbecile...
Oh! and this it seems:

Yeah, Trunks goes back in time and grabs all of the Boo arc characters to help him out.
