Are you referring to the scene where he goes SSJ the first time? If so, no, Super Dragon Soul was not used. I don't remember hearing it at all.

I guess I am one of those "disappointed" individuals. I actually really liked Yamamoto's score. I think the Kikuchi score wouldn't make Kai have the same feeling as before. Even though I still like Kikuchi's score as well, I prefer Yamamoto's score for Kai, which goes a bit faster than Z. Plus, the BGM change was rushed, so there will be many instances where music would not be necessary (like today's Toonzai airing when Goku got his body back from Ginyuu) or just plain not fit in (like Gohan's SSJ2 transformation).

Like what you want to like, I personally think Yamato's score is mundane and can't go away quick enough and any piece of Kuichi music anywhere would be better than what we had before but to each their own.

Not to sound crazy, but maybe the score change is only for the public airings? I mean Fuji TV/Fuji TV Two and The CW is generic non cable channels right? If it took less than one week for the score to change for Toonzai, but Nicktoons still has the same score, it might be possible. Just a theory though.

Actually, going over the Toonzai airings, the music chosen wasn't all bad. It could work, the only bad piece of music chosen, in my opinion, was the scene I mentioned above. This will be really interesting to see what later episodes have in terms of BGM choices.

Well this is all happening due to legal trouble, or trying to avoid legal trouble. I'm pretty sure it would be counter productive not to remove it from everything in general. Especially DVDs/ Blu-Rays since that's probably where they'd get in the most trouble if someone decided to sue. At least in Japan, it's really over here I'm not sure how it's going to play out.

I would love it this were true. But who knows, we will have to wait until more episodes air and when part 5 comes out in june to really get our answer.

I just wanted to say, that "Saiyan Blood" and "The News of The Cell Games" are the only insert songs that were composed by Kenji Yamamoto.

I meant in the particular scene that had "Saiyan Blood" playing. The same people are not choosing which music is being placed in a certain scene for Kai as Z was. Yukio Nagasaki chooses where music gets placed, and he has a total different perspective on placement of BGM for certain scenes (based on today's Toonzai airing) than whoever chose music for the same scenes in Z. It will not be the same as Z's score. Also, Nagasaki has much more music to choose from for earlier scenes. Kai with Kikuchi's score will have much more variety than Z had (I feel like I've said this many times).

They didn't. Nagasaki totally screwed up on the music choice for that scene. He chose M817. Spirit vs Spirit wasn't even composed by Kikuchi either.

Gah, Nagasaki...just use the damn recap and title card music for recaps and title cards. >_<

I'm pretty sure they're avoiding that because the recap and title card themes are just versions of "Cha-La Head-Cha-La," which is sadly a song that has nothing to do with Kai.

... Unless they've already used any of Kikuchi's many "Head-Cha-La" cues in the episodes themselves, in which case my theory crumbles.
