Question on the dragon balls
Question on the dragon balls
In the dragon ball universe there are two sets of dragon balls that we know of, the ones made by Kami (later remade by Dende), and the ones made by the Great Elder. It is my understanding namekians who belong to the dragon clan are capable of creating dragon balls. I find it strange that only two sets are known to be in existence. Do you think other balls exist in the universe? Back when there was a larger population of namekians, many of which have the capability to create db's, I wonder if some were sent to share the gift with other planets. Are other races perhaps capable of creating objects similar in nature? If this gift is exclusive to namekians, they truly are one of the most amazing species in the universe. To create something with the power to bring the dead to life and grant immortality really is remarkable.
Re: Question on the dragon balls
At least Freeza don't seem to know anything else that could grant immortality. Interesting, it seems that the Dragon Ball are so powerfull that annoys even the Rou Kaioshin. =p
Re: Question on the dragon balls
I think they are aware somewhat that things like Dragon balls shouldn't exist in large numbers. It didn't seem to me that they used their set as much as the earthlings or at all for that matter. The old Kaioshin mentions they are meant for Namek alone, maybe because namekians don't abuse their powers. Tbh, I think the earth dragon balls have granted more wishes in 20 years than than the namekian ones ihave n hundreds
But it is possible for others to be there. Ther might be another namekian that was sent away before the disaster and grew up on another planet. On the other hand, Guru mentions that Katatz (Kami's father) was some sort of genious so I don't think it's possible for every Dragon Clan member to creat them.

Re: Question on the dragon balls
Elder Kaioshin apparently once ordered the Namekians not to use the dragon balls to change the fates of other worlds, so I don't find it hard to believe that Earth's--made by someone who didn't remember Namek at all--may be the only other set in the universe.knight007 wrote:Do you think other balls exist in the universe? Re: Question on the dragon balls
If you wanna go into GT as well, Mr. Popo explains that there used to be a shadow dragon that came out of the dragon balls many years ago on some planet, who eventually destroyed an entire galaxy.
And of course, the black-star dragon balls.

Re: Question on the dragon balls
I think that was in the Funi dub of Dragon Ball GT. I don't remember it being mention in the Japanese subs of GT?

Actually, he just mentions that Katattsu's son was gifted, not Katattsu himself. He might have just been your average Joe, though still a Dragon Clan Namekian.Michsi wrote:But it is possible for others to be there. Nope, it's in the Japanese version too. He makes a comment about it before everyone on Earth is wished back to life.Hellspawn28 wrote:I think that was in the Funi dub of Dragon Ball GT. I don't remember it being mention in the Japanese subs of GT?
Re: Question on the dragon balls
Oh , I always had the impression it was Katatz he was referring to and that would sorta imply he infused his son with his "genius" (similar to how Daimao gave all his knowledge to his son) and that would explain why kami could create the dragon balls. I don't know why but I always assumed that kami was sent away as an egg and hatched on earth.Kiyza wrote:Actually, he just mentions that Katattsu's son was gifted, not Katattsu himself. Never the less, I still don't think any member of the Dragon Clan can create dragon balls, only the the exceptionally gifted ones.

It's a little earlier than that, right before Boo warps to the Kaioshin Realm and the final battle starts.Kiyza wrote:Nope, it's in the Japanese version too. He makes a comment about it before everyone on Earth is wished back to life.
Maybe it's like Super Saiyan: potentially anyone with Saiyan blood could become one, but only the really talented ones actually manage the feat. So creating dragonballs is something that technically any Dragon Clan Namekian is capable of, but in practice only the really gifted ones pull it off.Michsi wrote:Never the less, I still don't think any member of the Dragon Clan can create dragon balls, only the the exceptionally gifted ones.
Kanzenshuu: Is that place still around?

Re: Question on the dragon balls
Maybe I'm just crazy, but I generally think that Namekians can just choose to pass on traits to children, or make them stronger or weaker if they want to, like how Piccolo Daimao was able to control his children's appearances. The fact that Tambourine was stronger than Cymbal makes me think they're in charge of their power as well.Michsi wrote:Oh , I always had the impression it was Katatz he was referring to and that would sorta imply he infused his son with his "genius" (similar to how Daimao gave all his knowledge to his son) and that would explain why kami could create the dragon balls.
I remember Toriyama making a comment in a Daizenshuu interview about Piccolo Daimao's chair possibly being the result of him remembering a few things from when he was on Namek. If that's the case, then he was probably sent away while young, and still retained some memories of his time on Namek, but not enough to realize he was from another planet. Besides, if Piccolo's anything to go by, they seem to hatch pretty quickly anyway.Michsi wrote:I don't know why but I always assumed that kami was sent away as an egg and hatched on earth.

Re: Question on the dragon balls
I always assumed that Tambourine was stronger than Cymbal because, as Piano said something like giving birth would put pressure on Piccolo's life. Therefore, because Piccolo had already used up energy birthing Tambourine, he didn't have as much power as before for Cymbal. I don't think Piccolo would purposely make Cymbal weaker than Tambourine because his main objective was to collect the Dragon Balls, since it wasn't as if he may not have had to fight, since Piccolo said that he should kill anyone who got in his way. As for why Piano appeared to be so weak, that was probably because Piccolo didn't seem to intend him to be a warrior, rather an assistant.Kiyza wrote:Maybe I'm just crazy, but I generally think that Namekians can just choose to pass on traits to children, or make them stronger or weaker if they want to, like how Piccolo Daimao was able to control his children's appearances.
