Origin of "EX"

Just out of curiosity, where did the "EX" come from in the website's name? Did it come from the 1996 Street Fighter game?

That's what I was thinking. I remember hearing that Mike likes to play the Street Fighter games, so that was the first thing that came to mind.

This coming from a guy who has never played any of the Street Fighter games...

Back in December 1997, a cute little 14-year-old Mike said:

Didn't you also make a Dragon Ball x Street Fighter crossover fanfic that in it you made Akuma and Cell fuse to Akcell((or Akucell))?

To your credit I think that's a clever pun if nothing else.I'm more surprised anybody liked Street Fighter EX .

I'm really, really glad I'm not stuck with my old SN from when I was 14.

Which is far less punny.

I wonder if all the brow-beaten SFEX fans pointed fingers and laughed in revenge when SFIV was announced and a lot of the hardcore Super Turbo/Third Strikers actually liked it.
