How did Piccolo NOT know of the Black Star Balls

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

How did Piccolo NOT know of the Black Star Balls

Post by Ringworm128 » Wed Apr 20, 2011 2:56 am

As we all know GT has more then a few plot holes but one that Iv'e never seen mentioned is how Piccolo didn't know about the Black Star Balls. As we see when Bulma and Popo go to get Kamis space ship that Kami remembers before he split with Piccolo. This is also shown in a flashback during the Artificial Human arc (though these two scenes may be filler, then again GT is filler to). So this means that Kami should have full memory of creating the Black Star Balls and since Kami remembers being Kataz Jr then so should Piccolo Daimao who gives all his memories to Piccolo Jr. So how could Piccolo (who probably already knows about them) after fusing with Kami (who should definitely know about them) not know about the Black Star Balls and what they can do?

I cant remember but even if he doesn't say he doesn't know you would think he would try to destroy them or at least do a better job of hiding them. Also it comes to mind now how did King Kai know that the Planet would explode?

There aren't too many places on Earth safer than the middle of God's palace. As for Kaio, he's a god. He just ... knows things?

If a rocket ship was stated to be propelled from Kami's palace if you tried to enter it, why could Bulma reach it later in her ship? And why were Pilaf and co. able to reach it as well? Plotholes, plotholes, plotholes...

About Bulma's case, it's happened during Kami's absence. Kami's Palace was isolated from human approach by magic or barrier and it was gone along with Kami's demise. And for GT ... I've no idea , it is GT.

Because Bulma and Pilaf are geniuses and can invent machines that are out of this world.

I thought that people with permission could enter Kami's Palace.

Kami-sama probably just finger-flicks anything that flies up away like he finger-flicked Goku when He tried to hit him. He'd have no reason to kick Buruma off and he wasn't around anyway by the time she came on.

Well for one, I'm pretty sure the Temple isn't even there unless Nyoi-Bo is hooked up. Otherwise, it's in a different dimension. But again, this could be me only partially remembering a Daizenshuu entry or something.

Beyond that, I'd reconcile the "unreachable by vehicle" thing by saying that repelling planes and rockets and stuff is a willful action on the part of Kami or Dende. Like, they're consciously keeping a force field up, or keep watch for planes and repel them with a kiai, or something. So naturally, whether or not you're allowed to get up there with a vehicle, or at all, is determined by the whim of whoever's god at the time. So if the current god is absent (Cell arc), distracted or not paying attention (GT), or something like that, then you could hypothetically get up there through vehicular means.

Yeah, that's from its Daizenshuu 7 locations dictionary entry. Besides the "why can't vehicles get there?" thing, I think it's supposed to explain why throughout the series people talk as if God's temple were part of the afterlife. For instance, the temple is frequently referred to as "the Heavenly Realm", one of the things the afterlife is called. And in contrast to the temple, the Earth's surface is called the "lower realm", which is also what the entire universe is called in contrast to the afterlife. So how can both Earth and Namek be in the lower realm, while this place that's high above Earth but still obviously closer to it than Namek doesn't count as part of the lower realm? So the idea seems to be that it actually is originally located in the afterlife but is dimension-shifted to Earth by the Nyoibo, sort of like the rooms of Babidi's ship can be connected to different planets or points on Earth.

In the Saiyan arc when Goku returns to Earth, he jumps straight down from the temple to Karin Tower, but the Nyoibo can't be seen connecting the two. Maybe it's supposed to just be too thin to be seen here (although it's clearly shown in other scenes where this would apply at least as much), or maybe it's left out as a mistake. After all, where would the Nyoibo be at this point, if not connecting the two? Unless they took it down to try and keep the temple safe from the Saiyans, although that would be pretty pointless unless the Nyoibo's absence really did magically prevent people from reaching there. Maybe without the Nyoibo you can go from the temple to Karin Tower, but not from Karin Tower to the temple? Well, whatever.

I never realized that the Nyoibo is missing when Goku returns from the afterlife. And it's not just "too thin to be seen here", since you can actually see the hole which the Nyoibo connects in the top of the Karin tower.

Sorta like how you can fall from the Serpent Road into Hell but you can get back up?
