How does somebody actually get themselves to a state in which they think every fan wants GT characters? I mean, c'mon people. I understand that some people want it, but is it not common knowledge that GT fans are in the minority? This is a show that was cancelled, for crying out loud. Movie 1 was excellent and well received, but I don't think that every single fan wants Nikki and Ginger to be playable. I do, but I'm under no delusion that every single fan wants what I want.

It's more likely a quick fix in an attempt to make the game not sound like it's completely DBZ centric. IE: Don't ruin your chances; make it at least sound as accessible as possible to most fans of Dragon Ball in general.

Yeah, he and Don Quixote should totally be in this game.

Well the Oozaru at the end of the trailer hinted at giant characters...playable Windmill?

It's a continued joke over a fan misspelling a characters name, effectively exchanging the DBZ character Sansho for the Don Quixote character Sancho Panza. It is spiraling out of control a bit though... lol

... I know. Hence my choice of words.

Anyway...

Does anybody with a familiarity with the japanese gaming magazines remember how long it typically takes for them to get character reveals for DB games? I can't remember if this type of game received early reveals.

If anything I'm still hoping for ONE Boo Saga Gohan, ONE Vegeta (yes including Majin),ONE Future Trunks and ONE Freeza!!! Theres more characters that need to be combined into to one but I'm gonna stick to manga based characters for now.
It's not too late. One day, it will be.

Awww, Corpse, it's not funny when you have to explain the joke!

Good on you guys for taking my pitch and knocking it out of the park, though. Especially herms. I'm actually amazed I remembered 90% of that dude's name at all... the last time I watched that movie was back when I was excited it was coming out on VHS in a fancy clamshell case.

Back on topic, though.. Further exposing how much of an old frogart I am, I haven't played a DB game since Final Bout. Comparing this video to some video of Raging Blast 2, though, the models look to use slightly less polygons. (This isn't necessarily a bad thing.) I wonder if it's a tradeoff to focus on the environments?

And man, whoever cut this trailer really didn't need to add the vignette effect around the edges. It ruins the color balance on what are some really nicely colored backgrounds; black drop shadows just don't work over plush colors like that. At the very least they could've swapped the blend mode to overlay so it blended with the footage better...

Meh, better to ruin it now than to have it spread like the plague and force Mike to come in here and tell us to stay on topic. =P

It might just be a tradeoff to focus on the game in general. In the past games, environments weren't as detailed, the attacks lacked the fancy effects, the attacks also caused next to no damage to the environment, the character models themselves had crappy damage. Perhaps lowering the poly count a bit helps them to allow more of this stuff to go on at once.

It wouldn't be amazingly surprising for this game to feature Kinect connectivity. Spike is making a Kinect-based Fire Pro Wrestling (why can't they make us a 2D fighter) for XBLA.
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.

Yeah, like I said, definitely not a bad thing. If anyone's style is easily adapted to lower polygons and clever texturing, it's Toriyama's.

If a game like this has Kinect or Move support, it'd likely be tertiary and tacked-on to the main thrust of it. With the sales of the last game, there's no way they're going to bet all the sales on a gimmick that has less of an install base than the system itself.

Found a bunch more screenshots here in this Chinese message forum.
Apparently, this game is going to be 3D compatible and the Xbox360 version will support the Kinect.
Sorry mate, but i don't see the shots, can you post 'em here?
Oops, my bad! I forgot you can't view the pics if you aren't logged in.
I'm a little curious how the Kinect controls are gonna be used. I also hope that it's not an absolute necessity to use the Kinect cuz honestly, I ain't gonna spend another hundred bucks for that peripheral.

About as stupid as I felt playing BT3 on Wii.

It gave me a good reason to buy the classic controller.

My point exactly. There are too many different commands in a game like this. Rising up, dashing up, moving a direction opposed to dashing that direction, ki blast and ki volleys, transforming, just too many movements that would make it undesirable to play.

Kinect should just stick with kid games and gimmicky 'dance' games.

The trailer shows.. Raging blast 3.

Which means.. Sparking ... 5 ?

Which promisses.. Bigger fields with much more destructive elements.
More lights.. More useless up+/\ that plays the entire game for you.
More 300 of the same character.

Oh man..... I am off again.
I have predicted already.
Now everything is lost.

Don't you mean Sparking 6?... Although that is NOT what this is, they stopped making 'Sparking' on the PS2.

What did you expect.....Burst Limit 2?

Well, "Raging Blast" was specifically promoted right from one of the first trailers (if not the very first one) as something like, "the next evolution of Sparking!" Those two games were, if not in title, pretty clearly just an extension of the prior games.

This one is... well, we don't really know yet. There's SO LITTLE to go off of, other than "Spike" and "3D action/fighting" and all the usual jazz pulled from the first trailer and screen shots that we do every single year.

I think if it were going to just be "Sparking! 6" (let's call it "Sparking! GALAXIUS" for the sake of being stupid), they would still be promoting the legacy of the "Sparking!" and "Raging Blast" series right from this first trailer.

On the other hand, it very well may still be that but they don't WANT to promote it right away due to the declining sales year-over-year of those games.
