Duo, you DO know "the strongest under the heavens" is a general translation of "Tenkaichi Budoukai", right...?
Also, Kaioshin-sama said that all of the Kaioshin before Boo killed them were strong enough to defeat Freeza in one blow. If they were 1000 times stronger they would rival Veggetto.

Oh boy, so much to go through here... so much.
That's not a flaw. For one, it's called suspense. And for two, ah, Goku had to train to be able to transform into Super Saiya-jin at will if you'll remember. So obviously it's not *bam* you can just transform. You need that little push the first so many times. And that's just the first level. The second level could easily be harder. So there's no contradiction.I say again - Movie 9 did not fit. Even a small flaw is a flaw enough to make it impossible. Son Gohan had no inhibition or inability to harness power beyond the Super Saiya, and should not have required any push like that. It contradticted the central facts of the story, and thus does not fit.
Ya, it does look that way. But that's just Toei's stupidity on things like that showing through again. However, as far as I can remember Goku really didn't get batted around like Gotenks and Gohan did and obviously it doesn't matter whose stronger than who if they're not getting pounded. And since Movie 13 is the only time we see the Super Dragon Fist we don't know how much of a punch it packs. And so, once again, your point is eliminated.Movie 13 makes Goku stronger than Gotenks and Gohan. It too, cannot fit because of that contradiction to the main story.
Abstract nothing, it's entirely pointless and pure grasping at straws. Bojack was trapped a looooooooooooong time ago. Freeza's visit to Earth was quite short and limited (all he saw close-up was the rocky mountain area he landed in). Therefore, both of their opinions are worthless for any kind of debating over them. Both could be wrong, Bojack could have been right during the age he was trapped and wrong now, Bojack could be right now and Freeza's just clueless about the Earth. No matter what it is, it proves absolutely nothing. It is stated, at some point, by Bojacks henchies that Earth is "The most beauitful planet in all the cosmo's" and that is why Bojack came for it.
This is contradicting by the fact that the Space Pirate trade run by Freeza and his "clan" don't think Earth anything special. King Cold, when offering Trunks to replace the fallen Freeza, even said..."Planets far more wonderful than Earth will be yours."
Ah, here we are. I knew it would come sooner or later. The 'filler' thing. And once more, it's you reaching for something to grab onto to support yourself when there's absolutely nothing there to support you or your arguments. We are talking about the anime here, Duo. Not the manga. And besides that, there are no 'personality inconsistancies' in the movies or filler. There's some other things about the movie that aren't right, like Character Personality portrayel. But it's not noticable really...to those who are used to Filler.

Don't take the characters out of context? Are you kidding me?!
They have a filler where Son Goku eats clouds. If you think that is normal, you are wrong. After Goku grows up, there is only 2 occasions where he is shown to eat, and both times he isn't like "OMFG I NEED FOOD". In the almost every movie, he does something that has to do with being a glutton, plus they make him an idiot. Goku is not an idiot. He is an intelligent adult, a loving father, and a great warrior. The fillers just make him a goofy idiot that loves to battle.
In movie 9, they make Piccolo out to be an arrogant jerk who won't fight Kuririn because he thinks he's pathetic. This is contradicting of what Piccolo had become - a union of him and Kami-sama. Piccolo was not that same rude jerk, he had grown beyond that.
And that brings me to Kuririn. Every Filler projects him as a pathetic, skirt chasing, weakling. He is among the greatest warriors in the universe, but they give him that kind of persona. Stupid.
What else? There's some nice fillers that imply Bulma hasn't grown up at all since the first episode of Dragonball.
They have Dabra become a heavenly flower angel...yeah...lord of the Demon Realm...right...

So what if Goku eats clouds? I think that scene was very funny. And you know what? That is in Goku's character. He eats a lot and gets really hungry. And perhaps when he was smaller he got weaker when he needed food because his body was physically smaller? Maybe that's why they show that less?
And if every movie shows Goku as a glutton or an idiot, it's because in ways Goku is. That's one of the things that makes his character so interesting. When it comes to fighting he's a genius, but then with other aspects of life, he's downright clueless. He's almost like an "idoit savant". Goku can be really silly sometimes and that just makes his character more endearing. Don't forget that with Toriyama, comedy plays a big role in his mangas. Goku's great for that too. There are lots of instances in the manga where he acts goofy too. Also, the reason a lot of comedy is thrown in at times in the anime is because it helps lighten the tension and drama when the situations get too intense and gives the viewer a bit of break.
I think what Piccolo did in movie 9 was totally in character and he's one of my top favourites along with Gohan, so I've followed him closely. Piccolo, like the Saiyajins wants a good fight and to be challenged, so naturally Kuririn cowering and freaking like that put him off. I also think a lot of his reaction had to do with the fact that he was annoyed at Kuririn's lack of confidence. Kuririn can be a lot tougher and stronger than he thinks many times, but he second guesses himself. Piccolo knew this and was disappointed when Kuririn failed to take some initiative. Kami could be a harsh taskmaster at times too when he trained the fighters. And there are still instances where Piccolo reverted back to his "old self". Look how impatient and terse he got when Goku called him "Kamicolo". And that wasn't even long after he'd fused.
Where did you get the notion that Kuririn was a "skirt-chaser"? Yes in DB, he has some perverted tendencies, which were in the manga just as much by the way, but absolutely not in DBZ. He's actually pretty nervous around woman because of shyness and lack of experience. Even all that filler about Maron, protrayed him as really shy with her. Ya they expanded on his flaws more in the anime, but once again, that's beacuse they had more material to deal with and thus had to add in more comedy. Plus Kuririn was sort of the "human gauge" to show how strong an enemy was and how impossible they were to defeat for even one of the strongest humans to fight.
I think that Buruma is pretty evenly protrayed in the anime. Yes, there are instances of her being immature and silly, but just as many, if not way more in the later eps of her being mature and serious. I really think you're over-exaggerating things with her like some great "injustice" has been done.
Ya I admit, making Dabura some angelic flower child was silly and a little weird, but it did make me laugh when I first saw it.
So, if you want I can also start "busting out" my DVD collection and get more examples to counter. Except a lot of these examples that you've brought really are trivial. At the end of the day,I don't see them as affecting the "spirit" or tone of the series in any way. Now what I get from your posts, is that you seem to have a animosity and resentment of the anime and that you think we're all "brainwashed ignorants" that need to be put straight by your superior knowledge and views. I'm not saying you're like that, but that's how you're coming across to people here with these posts.

Goku is not the stupid idiot everyone thinks. Such things do not occur in the Manga. Sure, I'm putting out a pretty different view of things and I'm pretty forceful behind it, but the Manga IS what Toriyama did, not fillers with Dabra dedicating himself to good and Goku eating CLOUDS. CLOUDS!
Remember that Piccolo fought Kuririn before...and it was a great fight. Piccolo would have remembered that, he is not that arrogant.

Maybe I am overeggagerating, or maybe I'm the only one who's willing to say these things. None of us can really decide that.

Okay. Seriously. You're just being ridiculously anal. You seriously need to step back recognize this. Did I say Goku was a stupid idiot? No, I said he acts idiotic and clueless sometimes. I've met plenty of people who were extremely smart, but acted like idiots and were clueless about certain things just like Goku. You're confusing the two.
Like I said, so Goku eats clouds. That is exactly like Goku. He was always wondering if something was edible. He considered eating poor Kame while he was rescuing him for gosh sakes. And you do realize you're having a fit over a little insignificant ten second scene don't you?
I never said Piccolo was arrogant. Nor did I find he came off arrogant in that scene personally, just put off and disgruntled.
The beginning of movie was nothing but them waiting to watch a beauty contest. No offense, but that's pretty tame. Ya they did go off to try and sneak in the dressing room, but Roshi and Oolong were more eager than he was. If taking a little time to look at the opposite sex prancing around looking pretty on a stage makes you a "skirt-chaser", then the majority of us apparently are too.
And what's this about you being "the only one willing to say these things"? What? Is the DBZ anime suddenly some vast conspiracy theory and you're Oliver Stone? As I said before, your examples are reaching at best.

And you're forgetting that Piccolo's got a lot stronger. Far more so than Krillin. And Krillin's worried about fighting him and knows his chances of winning are slim. Piccolo, in turn, notices that Krillin's hesitating instead of fighting and decides it would better fill his time to go off and train. Hell, I bet Gohan had to practically drag Piccolo to the tournament in the first place.Remember that Piccolo fought Kuririn before...and it was a great fight. Piccolo would have remembered that, he is not that arrogant.

Not to mention, Gohan took quite a beating from Bojack and his group and was pushed into bursting into Super Saiyan 2 near the end. T'wasn't like he just burst into it right at the begining. o.oXyex wrote:That's not a flaw. For one, it's called suspense. Actually, they each got batted around though Goku took more of a walloping due to coming back for more. And really, Gotenks was the one who did more damage without killing Hildegarn. o_o Gotenks' attack was what caused Hildegarn to change forms. If anything, the Dragon Fist is basically a killing move. I'd say that if anyone got the oppertunity Goku had with an equal move, they'd have been able to kill Hildegarn as well.Xyex wrote:Ya, it does look that way. Agreed. It's all really personal opinion. Freeza obviously hated the home of the Super Saiyan that reduced him to a half-metal form and the fact that it was still filled with life. As you mentioned, they landed in a mountain-filled, deserted area while Bojack and his henchmen were in a more lively area.Xyex wrote:This is contradicting by the fact that the Space Pirate trade run by Freeza and his "clan" don't think Earth anything special. Someone obviously missed Kuririn's pervish personality in Dragon Ball. He even gave Roshi a porn magazine the very moment we're introduced to him. o_O And as far as I remember, Kuririn in Z has always just been into finding a girlfriend/wife. His first intention is to stop Muten Roshi until he realizes there'll be a lot of cute and pretty girls and joins them. Roshi's intents were perverted. Kuririn's were simply to find himself a wife.Kuririn as a skirt chaser - Begining of Movie 7

Such things do not occur in the Manga.

This topic wasn't created to discuss the manga. It was made to see what movie was the worst. Take your manga purist crap out of this topic.
Fillers, in my opinion, is what makes the anime funny. I LMAO when I saw Dabura picking flowers in the afterlife. That was so damn funny! On the issue of Piccolo's personality, Piccolo's always been like that. I mean, after the power Piccolo gained when fusing with Kami, Krillin must've seemed like a joke to him.

Hm... Worse movie.. I haven't seen any inbetween 5 and 12, but I tried watching "Super Saiyan Son Goku" the other day and couldn't finish watching it. =/ Something about it doesn't quite work.
Indeed. >_> I think what was even more funny was the incredible voice FUNimation gave him in the dub and how it went along with such a disturbingly happy-sunshine look while in Heaven.
