To be more specific, Freeza only mentioned that Goku couldn't survive in space like he could.Bussani wrote:That was filler. But Freeza says that Saiyans can't survive in space like he can and tries to blow up Namek with that in mind. Kaio also says that Goku would die instantly if they tried wishing him back to life, since he'd appear where Namek used to be.Nazi Cola wrote:Goku needed a space suit on his way to Namek to fix his ship. Actually, he specifically says Saiyans in Japanese. He poses it like a rhetorical question, however ("I can survive in space; how about you Saiyans?"), but Kaio confirms a few pages on that only Freeza can survive in space.Piccolo Daimao wrote:To be more specific, Freeza only mentioned that Goku couldn't survive in space like he could.

Re: Dragonball Vs. Non Dragonball
Oh, my mistake. I thought that he only said that Goku couldn't, giving leeway for Bardock and other Saiyans to be able to survive in space, since I had a theory that Saiyans could train to survive in space, explaining why Goku couldn't since he wasn't born 'n bred as a Saiyan and wouldn't have been adventuring across space. But that blows my theory right out of the water.Bussani wrote:Actually, he specifically says Saiyans in Japanese. Son Goku takes Boss Rabbit to the moon on his Nyoibo.
Clearly, Goku can breathe in space.

That was a gag.djkalteraphine wrote:Son Goku takes Boss Rabbit to the moon on his Nyoibo.

But I still believe Saiyans can survive in space. That scene in the manga where Bardock confronted Freeza, Goku being alive on King Kai's planet, and Vegeta fighting Pui Pui on planet Voon are all hard evidence.
Re: Dragonball Vs. Non Dragonball
It isn't a question of wheter they can survive in space. Its how long can they survive in space.
Even in real life, humans can survive in space up to a minute or something like that.
Saiyans would probably do a lot better than ordinary humans. However, that doesn't mean they would survive for very long. And nothing in the series implies that they couldn't survive a brief exposure. That includes the Bardock scene and Goku going to the moon.

Wait...why? Kaio's planet and Pui Pui's planet don't have air? Maybe you're working under the assumption that the high gravity would make the atmosphere heavier? That's all I can think of...mysticboy wrote:Goku being alive on King Kai's planet, and Vegeta fighting Pui Pui on planet Voon are all hard evidence.
It's not that simple when it's contradicted later. Are you telling me Goku only found it hard to breath at Kami's lookout, the Room of Spirit and Time, and underwater, because he thought he needed air? And that he'd survive without a planet to stand on even though Freeza and Kaio both say otherwise? Basing all that on a brief gag is silly.djkalteraphine wrote:Gag or not, it's canon. ;3

I assumed that those planets have little to no atmosphere.Bussani wrote:Wait...why? Kaio's planet and Pui Pui's planet don't have air? I'm not sure how assuming that is "hard evidence".mysticboy wrote:I assumed that those planets have little to no atmosphere.

No atmosphere means exposure to the harsh conditions of space. If Saiyans can survive on planets without atmosphere, then they can indeed survive in space. Since a planet without an atmosphere is basically a stationary asteroid and all.Bussani wrote:I'm not sure how assuming that is "hard evidence".mysticboy wrote:I assumed that those planets have little to no atmosphere.

Did you really think I needed that explained to me? Damn, man. I said that I don't see how you assuming they had no atmosphere counts as hard evidence. You assuming something doesn't make it a fact.mysticboy wrote:No atmosphere means exposure to the harsh conditions of space. Well, Freeza said that Saiyans can't survive in space, and we have no reason to doubt his statement, considering that Saiyans work under him.mysticboy wrote:That was a gag.djkalteraphine wrote:Son Goku takes Boss Rabbit to the moon on his Nyoibo.

And I don't believe that Pui Pui's planet was ever stated to have no oxygen in its atmosphere. And Kaio's planet isn't in space; it's in the afterlife. As for Bardock surviving in space during his final confrontation with Freeza, that's a clear contradiction of Freeza's statement. However, I just ignore it in favour of the idea that it was for suspense and drama.

Well, in the manga, we see Pui Pui's planet riddled with craters (you could argue previous battles but wait). http://i30.mangareader.net/dragon-ball/ ... 951663.jpg. Sorry for the scanlation. The sky is completely dark any the other planets are pretty close. That scene in the anime portray my point a little better.Piccolo Daimao wrote: And I don't believe that Pui Pui's planet was ever stated to have no oxygen in its atmosphere. About the Bardock thing: I always took it as Freeza getting under Goku's skin.

Well, I still don't see anything that would suggest that Pui Pui's planet has no oxygen in its atmosphere, other than the fact that it's dark. In the manga, I don't see any other planets, but if there are, then that doesn't say much either.mysticboy wrote:Well, in the manga, we see Pui Pui's planet riddled with craters (you could argue previous battles but wait). http://i30.mangareader.net/dragon-ball/ ... 951663.jpg. And I don't understand what you mean about the Bardock thing. When he's thinking to himself about how Goku looks similar to Bardock, he's not trying to get under his skin. Unless you're talking about when he says that he can't survive in space. But I don't see any reason to doubt his statement.

Freeza destroyed Planet Vegeta from space. If Bardock was the last Saiyan that opposed him, and Freeza remembers his face just before he busted Vegeta, then Freeza must remember where they both were.
