Like KiddoCabbusses said, Bulma had purple hair in the manga. Her father's hair also looks purple to me, but some people disagree.

Apparently the End Of Page Goblin strikes again:

Trunks also pretty much has Doctor Brief's hairstyle to boot.

Me, I always kinda wondered why they didn't accordingly switch Brief's or Trunks' hair to green for the anime, so that at least them changing Bulma's (and Bra's) hair color wouldn't create any inconsistencies. I guess the males' hair just didn't look good green.

Well, hey... in addition to that character, Takeshi Kusao happens to play a green-haired dude in another show... ^_~

As far as how a green haired person would look in Dragon Ball, Glenn's (Chrono Trigger) hair didn't look bad. Granted you don't get a good look at his face, but his hair looks like it'd fit into Dragon Ball just fine, especially considering Bulma's, Trunks', and random strangers' unusual hair colors.

Here's another theory I like:

The Pirate Robot from Dragonball (The one hiding in that underwater cavern that Blue chased Goku, Bulma and Krillin into) is actually Android 2.
Image

Notice the "2" on his legs. Also note this robot gave Goku a very tough fight, more so than General Blue. And a similar looking robot can be seen in the picture below hanging in Gero's laboratory. (Upper right corner)

That makes no sense though, since the pirate robot was left there by the pirates who used that cave "long ago". It has no connection to the Red Ribbon army, and almost certainly predates it and Gero by a long-shot.

Does it actually say that the robot itself was left there by pirates? That seems strange that pirates would be carrying robots in the first place.

Bulma says it's there to guard the pirate harbor from intruders, and General Blue is shocked when he sees it and wonders what it is. It clearly has no connection with the Red Ribbon Army.

Well, we see that they had submarines and modern guns, so I don't think it's so strange.

Not necessarily something I’ve heard, but a favorite theory of my own is that the reason Goku and Vegeta thought Majin Boo’s power lever was going up when he transformed into Kid Boo, even though it was later reported that it went down, was because he was expending energy during his transformation. Which would actually make sense from a scientific perspective as energy can not be destroyed, only transformed. The process could therefore be described as exergonic.

Hey you never know, maybe Dr. Gero was a pirate in his younger years!

This is now my favorite fan theory.
If nothing else, he could be continuing the work of his grandpa, Captain Ibo. Who only made it to Jinzouningen #4 before croaking.

It's totally not android 2, but when looking at the DBwiki. I read this:

"Because the Destroyer is said to bare the Red Ribbon insignia and has armor made of a fictional alloy called geromantium (likely invented by Dr. Gero), it can be assumed they are robots created by Dr. Gero (and he may have actually based them on the Pirate Robot)."

If I ever discover an element, I'm totally calling it geromantium.

"Geromantium" comes from the enemy descriptions for the various Pirate Robot-inspired enemies in Legacy of Goku II. The enemy descriptions in that game (displayed along with their stats when you use a scouter on them) were often very elaborate and contained stuff like that.

But hey, why not. I don't like dub stuff and things made up to expand the original, but some of the LoG scouter info was interesting game-wise. :-P

You know what.. I never wondered about that pirate robot until now. How and what is it!? It kinda has saiyan armor!! It could be by Gero, when he was a teenager and not in Red Ribbon yet. It was crazy strong.

I sort of hold a fan theory that I think is unique if not interesting. I've always thought that Funi gave most of the major Red Ribbon villains multiple accents to push the concept that the army has a tight grasp all over the planet. That is to say it shows they're recruiting solders from literally everywhere. It probably isn't true but it's something I've thought about.

Well, the presence of real world accents in Dragon World at all is a bit ... eh. But then again, it's no sillier than using common language theory in the first place, so I don't have a problem with what FUNimation did there.

The Red Ribbon Army seems to be quite progressive anyway, with animal people, racial minorities and women all occupying officer positions.

Well, everyone has some accent, so they couldn't exactly have avoided introducing real world accents, even if they had wanted to.
