Looking For Ocean Clips.
Moderators: Kanzenshuu Staff, General Help
I actually like Ocean's dubs of OTHER animes other than DBZ. DBZ sucked, but there dub of Inuyasha ruled.tarsonis wrote:Brian Drummond is an excellent voice actor and Ocean Studios does the best dubs of any dubbing company I've heard. (Not saying it was perfect or anything, i.e. Freeza). Their voices otherwise were all fitting.
OK. Time for the second part of this post. Here is a file for anyone who hasn't seen both dubs yet. I've included clips of BOTH dubs in a zip file. They are both the same clip but different dubs. Just listen to Bulma's voice in the ocean dub. She sounds SOOO fake (sort of like a robot).
It is now time for everybody to see how good Funi is compared to Ocean!

Yep! I'm not trying to say that your opinions mean nothing to me, but I really don't like any of the voices in the ocean dub and I think that Christopher Sabat did a really good job with Vegeta. Sean whateverhislastnameis did a PERFECT job with Goku in the redub (in my opinion) proving that Funi is the best!

Godzilla music eh?Rocketman wrote:I meant the hairball Goku was trying to dislodge while listening to the greatest hits of the Godzilla movies.

As for Goku's voice, we get it. Really. I mean it. You've made it clear many times that you don't like it. Fine, no matter how skewed or without basis it may be you can have that opinion. But really, what's your point in constantly trying to shove it... err I mean remind everyone all the time? And in this case you even felt the need to tell us when the discussion didn't even involve the jp original.
Seriously we believe you. You truly hate japanese... anything.
You know, just add this little tidbit to your profile description or signature and save yourself the trouble of having to retype the same gripe again and again?

I really find it weird that those clips have Cartoon network and Toonami water marks on them.El_Diablo wrote:Here's a site I've had bookmarked for a while.

Yeah, when I first heard Miroku and realized that it was Kirby Morrow, I was like, WTF? why was he so bad for Goku?I actually like Ocean's dubs of OTHER animes other than DBZ. DBZ sucked, but there dub of Inuyasha ruled.
Also, didn't the Ocean group not come back untill the middle of the cell games arc? I distinctly remember watching one eisode one day, then on the next one (I think it was Android explosion or something), All the voices and music had changed, both times I saw them.

It goes like this, basicly how DB/Z/GT was aired in America, Canada, and the UK. Just so every single person knows, FUNi-Texas, Ocean, and Blue Water are three completely different voice studios with compeltely different casts. I hope this all makes sense. Here it goes from my memory:

1 - 53: FUNi/Ocean dub.
54 - 107: FUNi-Texas dub.
108 - 276: Ocean-Vancouver dub.

But I don't hate all things Japanese. I don't even hate most things Japanese. What I hate are people who think that because I don't like the sound of the Japanese language, that I'm a closeminded dumbass American bigot. Or people who claim that clips of such pisspoor quality as that one still 'puts the dub to shame'.
What's my point? My point is I'm a dub fan. I've watched several of the movies in Japanese, and I didn't like it. And I'm sick of being treated like some kind of third-class fan because I don't watch everything in Nipponese and appreciate the complex meanings of background music that I can't distinguish from Godzilla vs the Sea Monster.
But, this is all terribly off-topic, so I'll just stop here.

Ya, it's always floored me too. He's fine as Miroku. He was also fine as Trowa in Gundam Wing and I liked him as Van Fanel in Escaflowne, so I can't even say his bad performance came down to it being his first role. The only thing I can think of is that he just isn't capable of playing characters that are very outgoing and loud.Tenka-Ichi wrote: Yeah, when I first heard Miroku and realized that it was Kirby Morrow, I was like, WTF? why was he so bad for Goku?
Jerseymilk: "Can I tell you something?"
B-kun: "What?"
Jerseymilk: "I see Fangirls."

Jerseymilk: "I see Fangirls."

I'am kind of a dub fan myself, I first watched the Spanish version (not that I could fully understand it but it was the only one avalible). Then when I would go to Italy for the summer I found it there and recorded all I could (but it was no good in a American VCR soWhat's my point? My point is I'm a dub fan. Where's the beef?
I don't know who's responsible for the Otaku Alliance site but whoever it is please update the content. Now that the DVDs are out there's no excuse to have those horrible fansub quality videos on your site. It would even help your cause to replace them. Seriously.
Suggestion: Do a clip show showing the important scenes of DBZ (SSJ Goku, SSJ2 Gohan, Goku vs. Vegeta fight etc.) back to back while switching between english and japanese for each scene.
Anyway, going back to the topic now, well I personally dislike both dubs mostly because of the music but the voices as well. However, I do dislike the Ocean Dub even more for one important reason: I've noticed that they've even gone as far as to change the sound effects that we all know and love like the kamehameha and transformation sounds on many occasions, and have even added their own visual effects in some scenes.

Well, I was the one who contributed the GT clips. However, the OA site as it is, is basicly dead in regaurds of real updating. Don't bitch about bad qaulity DLs, be glad you can see some glimpses of the Blue Water version and remember that not all sites are gonna use DVD rips. Plus, I don't work there, so don't direct your requests at me, take them to the site owner: illjwamh@yahoo.comAdnan wrote:I don't know who's responsible for the Otaku Alliance site but whoever it is please update the content.
