Is Vegeta the biggest loser of DBZ?

Post by AnimeFan8719 » Fri Aug 12, 2011 8:37 pm

Have you guys noticed that in almost every battle that Vegeta was in, he always loses? Don't get me wrong. He was one of the realest characters in DBZ, but you've gotta admit, he took too many "Ls" throughout the series. List of Vegeta's losing cards:

- Ass whooped by Goku/Krillin/Gohan
- Ass whooped by Zarbon
- Ass whooped by Recoome
- Ass whooped by Frieza multiple times
- Ass whooped by Android 18
- Almost got his ass whooped by his own son because Trunks was sick of his attitude
- Ass whooped by Cell
- Ass whooped by Cell again
- Beaten by Goku again (Goku held back so he wouldn't hurt Vegeta's feelings )
- Committed suicide to stop fat Buu...and it didn't work
- Came back to life and got his ass kicked by Buu again
- Had to watch while Goku beat Buu
- Got owned by Broly and Piccolo in the Legendary Super Saiyan movie (Non Canon)

It seems like Akira Toriyama made Vegeta to just be all talk, (and) just to lose at the end. This proves Akira Toriyama really does hate Vegeta's guts.

Bulma. That is all.

But on a serious note, it's definitely Yamcha.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Chaozu is never shown winning a single fight in the manga.

Almost forgot Chiaotzu. That little shit never contributed anything, did he?

Yamcha was shown winning, what, one more fight than him? Maybe more if you count knocking Chichi out and cutting an Oozaru's tail off as fights. So yeah, Vegeta beat way more opponents than either of them.

Now that you mention it what did Chaozu do? I suppose that Kuririn match was pretty funny. Yeah...I guess that's it. His shining moment was being a punchline to a joke.

Nope. Completely useless.

On topic though... Vegeta did beat Cui, Dodoria, Zarbon the 2nd time, Jeice, 19, and Pui Pui so it's hard for him to even be close to the "biggest" loser.

Characters that are bigger losers than Vegeta that I can think of right off the bat are Chaozu, Yamcha, and Kuririn.

He rigged the matchups in the 23rd budokai.

...which I believe makes him more useful than Puer.

Didn't Puer cut off Goku's tail?

Yamcha is definitely more of a loser than Vegeta, though Vegeta is a loser, he just doesn't realise it, he probably remembers most of his defeats as victories, like America in Vietnam, the War on Terrorism, or the War on Drugs.

Chiaotzu, Yamcha, and Kuririn are all most non-canon and irrelevant in DBZ, DBZ is all about the Saiyans.

Huh? They're in the manga, so how aren't they a part of "canon"?

Canon's the wrong word, but I get what he's saying. His sentiment seems more that Kuririn, et. al are pretty outclassed during Adventures in Saiyanland, and that it's sort of unfair to call them losers when at that point anyone who's not a Saiyan is sort of SOL all around.

Of all the human characters, though, I would say Kuririn actually contributes quite a bit during the Freeza stuff.

I mean, if it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have Super Saiyan Goku.

Chaozu didn't win anything before Adventures in Saiyanland, and Yamcha only really won that one fight against Suke-kun. ...And even that he did with help from Kuririn.

While that list is true, I can't say other characters are much better off. Vegeta just happens to stand out because of his attitude.

Vegeta is a big loser, and a crybaby about it, but he isn't the biggest loser.

It's not even Yamcha.

It's not even Chaotzu.

it's Mr. Satan - how big of a loser do you have to be that you claim the victory of a young boy as your own, ride the coat tails of it and go to ridiculous levels to keep up the image all for the attention?

Being a loser doesn't necessarily mean one loses fights (although Mr. Satan often does), it means one is a truly pathetic person.

Mr. Satan has his redeeming qualities, of course and does BECOME a better person - but he still earns this "honor".

I honestly wouldn't call Vegeta a loser. For the many battles he's lost, there's many battles he won. He absolutely demolished Goku before Gohan and Kuririn arrived, and even then, he survived the Genki-Dama and was only defeated when Gohan became Ozaru and subsequently fell on him.

Then he has probably the highest kill count in the Freeza arc, killing Kiwi, Dodoria, Zarbon, Appule, a Namekian village, and the entire Ginyu Force bar Ginyu (although Goku knocked them unconscious first), and then some minor Freeza henchmen if you count the anime.

And later, he defeats #19 and second-form Cell without breaking a sweat.

Vegeta's one of the strongest main characters in the series, is ahead of Goku and Gohan for large portions of the series, wins many of his battles and only loses to exceptionally strong warriors that are mainly villains. That means more to me than a couple of losses. Piccolo probably loses about the same amount of matches as Vegeta, and he's not a loser.

The only time I can really call Vegeta a full-on loser is in the Boo arc. He trains his ass off more than Goku, yet Goku still manages to stay ahead of him due to the advantages of afterlife training, which, in turn, gave him SSj3. Then Gohan, who he also trained his ass off to surpass since the aforementioned cheap-rage-power-upper became stronger than him at the Cell Games, gets another cheap-ass potential-awakening spell. And then finally, he has to admit that, no matter how much he trains, he can never surpass Goku, before getting another ass-whooping by Boo.
