I'm a bit of a history buff and I just find the idea of spinning a total defeat like Vietnam into a victory hilarious. But then again, neocons also like to make the French out to be cowards. Forgive me for digressing from the real topic.

Damn, why the Chiaotzu character even existed??? It's some little gay midget and because of him, Tenshinhan doesn't go around girls. It's only this little affected creep: ''Ten-san, Ten-san, I'm your little b**ch, I'll cook you something'', or ''Nappa has trouble to scratch his back, I'll pointlessly blow myself off with my 1/3 of Goku's energy (at the start of the whole series) to help him''....... He sucks even in games. Only game in which he's quite good is RB2, but there is still something not allright with him. I hate this guy.

I agree, that in Manga/Anime series and fighting games he sucks, but i found him really helpful in Famicom DBZ RPG games, even strongest boss is helpless against his two turn paralyse move {cheap,i knowMCDaveG wrote:Damn, why the Chiaotzu character even existed??? @MCDaveG & coola: While Chaozu doesn't really do anything of importance to anyone (apart from Tenshinhan), he does serve to give some dimension to Tenshinhan's character, making him more than just a battle-drone. And, at the 22nd TB, he balanced out the stakes of the Turtle School vs. Crane School rivalry.
Although I did grow sick of the unconditional love Tenshinhan had for this weird little guy who basically did nothing but hang to Tenshinhan's butt like a puppy. I don't hate Chaozu though. It seemed like Toriyama himself didn't know what to do with the guy, since not long after the battle with Nappa started, he tossed him out of the battle with a self-destruction and later might as well have been non-existent.

I guess it depends on how you look at it. Yeah, literally Chaozu's had more losses but Yamcha's have been some of the most embarrassing. First to fall against the Saiyans - and to a freaking Saibaman, because he got cocky and took his eyes off his battle. First to fall against the Androids because they caught him off guard. And, of course, there's that personal loss of his long time girlfriend to the ass who indirectly got him killed. I mean, ouch!Piccolo Daimao wrote:No, Chaozu is a bigger loser than Yamcha. And Chaozu's so barely in the show to start with, he hardly even counts. So yeah, I'm gonna stick with Yamcha.

Re: Is Vegeta the biggest loser of DBZ?
Amazing how I've managed to stay out of this thread for so long. But I'd have to say it depends on how you define "loser." Is the biggest loser someone who has the largest lose to win ratio of fights? In that case, I guess it probably wouldn't be Vegeta. Or is the biggest loser someone who, through his actions, screwed everything up the largest number of times, or had a largely negative repurcussion on the heroes' purposes and agendas. Because if that's how you define loser, then Vegeta definitely wins hands down.

Vegeta isn't the biggest loser. He is, however, the most ironic character in the series.

Yeah, I guess it does depend on how you look at it. Chaozu's in the series less than Yamcha, but I guess I look at him as a loser because, despite being such a powerful warrior, he's lost all of his battles. He lost against Kuririn because he was retarded. He lost against Nappa because he blew himself up, like, two minutes after the battle with Nappa began.ending sun wrote:I guess it depends on how you look at it. I agree with what you say about Yamcha. He is the first to fall against the Saiyans, ahead of arguably the weakest there, Chaozu, against a Saiyan, but I don't think it's because he got cocky and took his eyes of the battle. The Saibaimen was playing dead, and I think he learnt his lesson about being cocky and dropping his guard after his battle with God at the 23rd TB.
And with the Androids, that wasn't really his fault, since he happened to be the one to find them alone and they were so much stronger than him that he didn't have a chance.
And yes, he did lose his girlfriend, who later ended up going out with the guy who killed him. That is pretty embarrassing, but also a massive insult from Bulma. There's one thing you don't do - bang and, later, marry a guy who killed your ex-boyfriend and friend who still lives with you. How Yamcha apparently handles living with Vegeta is remarkable - Tenshinhan even calls him out on it before Freeza lands on Earth. But I guess there's not much else he can do, since, if you don't count filler, he assumedly has no job, his previous home was in the middle of the desert and he's already got a more-than-cushty place to live.

As far as Yamcha Vs. Chaotzu goes. Well, Yamcha beat the Invisible Man (and before you mention Krillin, Invisible Man had help first) and Yamcha and Puar also did bring down Oozaru Goku in the Pilaf Arc.

Re: Is Vegeta the biggest loser of DBZ???
Tenshinhan also turned his back on the Saibamen, it does not necessarily make him cocky or stupid. Too trusthworthy would be the better term, the point of the chapter was that the humans were fighting with tourney rules, and Vegeta and Nappa agreed. What the readers probably saw coming - or not- was that these guys didn`t played by any kind of rules. The characters believed that they would honor the wait for Goku, and they didn`t.ending sun wrote:I guess it depends on how you look at it. To be more precise, the point of the arc was that for the first time we had enemies that didn`t cared about whether Earth would be left in one piece or not. Piccolo did cared - he wanted to rule. The Saiyans didn`t.
Neither Yamcha or Chaotzu are losers. They do what they can with whatever power they are written. Vegeta on the other hand, was written as immensily powerful but acted like a raging lunatic who was so fed up on his own ego that he gave opponents the means of his downfall that mostly ended up in epic beatings (Freeza, 18 and Cell), only for him to put the blame on everyone else but himself.
Don`t worry, it`s not just bad news. He does get better later on. But not for a good while.

Re: Is Vegeta the biggest loser of DBZ?
Vegeta attained Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan 2 , and possibly Super Saiyan 3 in joining up with Goku and Co. That is way beyond what he was doing in his life before Goku. Also he had a family and let go of some of his hatred and violence. He had a massive increase in quality of life and power so Vegeta turned out just fine if you ask me...
