I must admit I had only heard of NA Dragon Box Releases about 4-5 months ago and decided to import odd ones every now and than. I had previously considered getting the orange bricks imported but after reading some reviews and watching odd youtube vids I realised they had done wrong I did not pay much attention until I stumbled across them.Rukura wrote:If they were even using the same old french transfers that Kaze used, would it even have the japanese version? (because German release is dub-only, right?) Besides, then they wouldn't even have the FUNimation dub, which is also listed.
And why would it have the Orange Brick extras bundled in? lol
It goes back to the fact that a lot of people neither imported them, nor followed the releases to even know they existed...like me up until mid-2009![]()

DBZ Coming to the UK? (Apparently yes!)

Nah. See, Vampire Knight was released here in a similar fashion.Rukura wrote:If they were even using the same old french transfers that Kaze used, would it even have the japanese version? They used Kaze's masters w/ Viz's dub.

That's weird...
...I might be okay with getting something like that if it has the Japanese version and Steve's subtitles

Re: Dragon Ball Z coming to the UK
It'd be a shame if it was indeed the Orange Bricks, as I'd love to actually buy Dragon Ball products that are released here, you know, support the franchise and all?
Re: Dragon Ball coming to the UK?
Kaze's using the german TV masters, which includes hardcaptioned German openings and censorship. So I doubt that their footage will be used.Rukura wrote:Huh :oParadox295 wrote:Nah. See, Vampire Knight was released here in a similar fashion.

Because i remember those previous french masters looking like ass (...mostly because they're kinda still on tv over here lol...and that video is all kinds of screwed)
It's probably the same footage as the Madman version of the Orange Bricks. In other words, orange bricks with added PAL telecine.

I get that... but I'd rather support manga by buying their cheap boxsets and bluray releases, even if a little part of me does want to get these.Rory wrote:It'd be a shame if it was indeed the Orange Bricks, as I'd love to actually buy Dragon Ball products that are released here, you know, support the franchise and all?
Re: Dragon Ball Z coming to the UK
Hmm, I know what you mean. I bought the Cooler Double Feature Steelbook and Android 13/Bojack Unbound last night on eBay for 46 dollars, but the guy is not really sure how to send internationally. He's looking into it. So I'm a bit worried he's not going to do it. It would be a lot easier if there were decent releases in the UK. It's annoying because I heard the Cooler double normally can sell for 46+ on its own.

I know what you mean, the only Dragon Ball item I've ever bought from the UK is one of the games. Funny how they can still be released here, despite them having Funi voices.Rory wrote:It'd be a shame if it was indeed the Orange Bricks, as I'd love to actually buy Dragon Ball products that are released here, you know, support the franchise and all?

Re: Dragon Ball Z coming to the UK
You could say it's funny that the Japanese voice tracks are on most DBZ releases. They most likely bought the licence from Funi. Yeah, I admit the only thing Dragon Ball I've bought in the UK are games. The rest I imported myself or bought from an import place.NessMudkip wrote:I know what you mean, the only Dragon Ball item I've ever bought from the UK is one of the games. I just thought it was odd considering the Funimation dub never aired in the UK.

Re: Dragon Ball Z coming to the UK
The games aren't made "for the UK", they're made "for Europe". The vast majority of the European couldn't care less whether there even IS an English voice track in the game (which is why all the single voice track games have Japanese voices only), so there's no point in paying money to record an all-new voice track. But since there's already a version of the game out in America, with English and Japanese voices both included and all the programming to support two tracks is already done along with all the translation work, the easiest option is to just use that.NessMudkip wrote:Adamant wrote:...why is that "funny"?NessMudkip wrote:

The alternative to the Funi dub would've been "Japanese voices only", so if you like your Japanese cartoon men talking English, be happy they gave you what they did.

Re: Dragon Ball Z coming to the UK
I can safely say these will sell as long as they appear at the big retailers/amazon. DBZ was just as huge over here (in the UK) at the time 10 years ago, or however long it's been now.
The big fans will have imported by now, as I have. Ebay hasn't been cheap (£25-40 a pop per orange box) at the time, similarly for the dragon boxes. If the newly announced movie boxes/steelbook edition rereleases and the blu-ray DBZ release heads here at a similar time frame as the US, I may well get them here instead. (Also depends on package design differences, gotta love being anal about such silly things.)
Can't speak for how big DBZ has been/was in neighboring countries. I remember seeing some dubbed* Dragon Ball (original series) on holiday in Turkey way back in 1997. I wasn't even a fan yet.
And now I'm rambling.
Can we say the F word with the i spelling here yet?
Ho hum.
*It may have been subtitled.

Re: Dragon Ball Z coming to the UK
Unfortunately, it's not happening.
Manga Entertainment UK has confirmed it on their Twitter.
What's the point in showing the Orange brick trailers on a DVD being released in the UK when the actual DVDs can only be purchased in America and Australia?

Re: Dragon Ball Z coming to the UK
Pity would of been nice but at least we can import which is really annoying and hassling. Got 5 Dragon Boxes 6th [Which is actually 2nd] should be coming tommorrow or friday was meant be here today. Apparently they tried deliver today but I never recieved a card through door say they had been and have been In all day so I would of heard. Only found out because on Tracking info it says Delivery attempted; recipient not home.

Re: DBZ Coming to the UK? (Manga Ent. Says "NO!")
That's a shame. Dick move for Manga to respond the way they did, too. :/
