Nothing from DBZ's run has entered public domain, and won't for 70 years after its release (according to Japanese copyright law, which doesn't even scratch the surface of international copyright law and who obeys what). So. Yeah.

Just because something's old and you can't get it doesn't mean you're entitled to it.

I just put this up on Kanzentai, but I think it deserves some discussion. Since I'm lazy, I'm just gonna copy-n-paste the update from the site:

This special is known amongst DragonBall fans by a few different names, such as the 3rd DragonBall Z TV special or the Movie Overview Special. This special was hosted by Goku and Gohan, who are dressed for the occasion in white tuxes, and covers all of the DragonBall and DragonBall Z movies that preceded DragonBall Z movie 7, "Extreme Battle!! The Three Great Super Saiyans". However, for years it has been virtually inaccessible to fans outside of Japan... until now! Thanks to our buddy kei17, we have an exclusive detailed look at this "clip show" special just for all of you that you won't find anywhere else!

Once you're done reading, be sure to check out Daizenshuu EX podcast episode #247 where VegettoEX, Meri, and myself had a grand time "reviewing" this special. I guess it's now one more of those things we can all check off of our "to see before I die" lists. Oh, what will we get our hands on next?!

from what I remember it's a lot like a summary on the movie there showing and how nostalgic the adventure was and they talk about a specific scene there showing and say things like "Hey Gohan, you were small do you remember that?" "Gohan was a lot different than me, he was more focused on studying he's really smart!" Then when they show clips from the new movie they were like "Our new enemies and such..."

I understand that for the Year-End Special we need to wait for someone like pekingduck to rip their VHS recording, but does anyone know where I can find the Movie Overview one? I suppose asking this wouldn't be against the rules, right? Because it was never commercially available?

It's still copyrighted material. So I guess this would be against the rules (and the law).
