Fake interviews and info

Post by Ussj Future Trunks » Mon Oct 24, 2011 12:59 pm

Did Toriyama really only keep Vegeta around for popularity? And did he only add saiyaman because of the super sentai shows his son watched?
Also are there any grevious errors in the databook, enough to dismiss said errors as non canon?
And is the tarble special and episode of bardock accepted as canon?
Simian upstart...none surpass me. No one even comes close! BURN THIS INTO YOUR MIND! I am emperor of the universe. The likes of you are only fit to grovel at my feet. Or better still...to be crushed...LIKE AN INSECT AT THE WHIM OF YOUR MASTER!

- Freeza, DBZ Kai.

Hmm...sounds familiar, but I'm drawing a blank. In his Daizenshuu 2 interview, Toriyama says he didn't really like Vegeta, but he was very helpful to have around. That's the closest thing I can think of.

Also in his Daizenshuu 2 interview, he says that he added the Ginyu Force into the story because his son loved Sentai shows. He doesn't mention Great Saiyaman, though Great Saiyaman has some Sentai inspiration too (though I guess technically he'd be a "Henshin Hero").

Well, if they're "errors" then by definition they couldn't really be part of the canon. There's a podcast episode where Mike and I discuss the major and not-so-major mistakes in the guide books.

For good or ill, there's no big stone slabs establishing the DB canon. It's just up for individual fans to decide.
Kanzenshuu: Is that place still around?
Sometimes, I tweet things
We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

From what I know, the Henshin theme was quite popular in Japan since 70's, so I always thougt that Super Saiyans were needed in order for the show to progress.
As Zarbon and Freeza happened to transform, it was inevitable for the heroes to jump into the bandwagon.

I don't know any Shonen or Tokusatsu without henshin/transformation :)
FighterZ, Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat: Funky_Strudel

Trust me, I'm millenial and a designer.
