No, Funimation are money grabbers, but I don't think they'd do something like this. If so, then I've lost a lot of respect for them, even after I emailed them and they explicitly said that the sets would have Kikuchi. I really hope all that happened is that they just screwed up.Toriyama-sama wrote:You guys are acting as if this wasn't to be expected in the first place... It's a good thing I like BOTH scores.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai Season 1 Discussion
Same. I prefer Kikuchi, but Yamamoto isn't bad. What's pissing me off though is that there will be no consistency, half is Yamamoto and half is Kikuchi. We'll never see a full Yamamoto release, so just give us Kikuchi.
Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai Season 1 Discussion
Seems really odd to go through a punch of legal rigamarole to have Kikuchi listed in the credits on the packaging, this that, and the other, and then intentionally master the wrong music on the discs.
If this doesn't have any real resolve or explanation soon, I'm going to sell this current set, then order the Wal-Mart sets. I think they look nicer anyway. XD

Same, at first I didn't Yamamoto's score that much for Kai but I later got the soundtrack and it has grown a lot on me.penguintruth wrote:It's a good thing I like BOTH scores.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai Season 1 Discussion
If no Yamamoto score in future Kai releases than FUNimation needs to negotiate with Toei of using more Kikuchi music. Kai is so hard to watch with the same pieces over and over. It's like Toei chosse 5 tracks to use for the replacement score.

Hmm. Apparently these discs are just the "part" sets burned onto "season" labeled discs. When I put this into my PS3, the disc info and icon still read "DragonBall Z Kai Part 1".
Is this how the One Piece "season" line was done as well?

I don't think it was ever advertised by retailers that this set would have the replacement score, it was just "confirmed" by FUNi...so, the retailers will say "Enjoy your set, which is exactly as we advertised it, and thanks for shopping with us."coola wrote:I actually feel sorry for Amazon/Rightstuf, and rest of shops, what will they tell to their customers? That's also how the Yu Yu Hakusho season sets were done as well. They just took the 7-episode discs released from 2006-2007 and compiled them into new packaging.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:Hmm. I just spot-checked my copy of One Piece Collection 1.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:Is this how the One Piece "season" line was done as well?
Right away I could tell it's just a re-print. A trailer for DBZ Remastered season 5.
They would of been advertising the Dragon Boxes or Z Kai, not those things.
And the menu says "Season One First Voyage Disc One".
Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

Hmm. So if this is standard practice for these bargain sets, maybe we'll have to wait for the next line of DBZK DVD\Blu-rays for the replacement music.SuperSaiyan3Goku wrote:I just spot-checked my copy of One Piece Collection 1.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:Is this how the One Piece "season" line was done as well?

When I bought the YYH Season Sets (4 sets), they were just the previous sets (8 sets) stuck together. Outside of changing the disc cover, exactly the same.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:Hmm. When you're getting a lot of episodes for cheap, you usually don't question it, unless it messes with expectations.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai Season 1 Discussion
So season 1 is just a reprint of the part 1&2 wal-mart bundle with all dvd/blu-ray content unchanged and new packaging huh? That was probably not one of Funi's smartest moves I bet Funimation's going to have a lot of explaining to do when Toei finds out.
If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out.

<FUNi> So...we re-released the Kai Blu-rays and DVDs in consolidated sets.superrayman3 wrote:So season 1 is just a reprint of the part 1&2 wal-mart bundle with all dvd/blu-ray content unchanged and new packaging huh? <Toei> How'd it sell?
<FUNi> Like hotcakes, as usual. Someone asked Chuck if the sets would have Kikuchi and he said yes though.
<Toei> Who the hell is Chuck? And why did he say that?
<FUNi> Dude who vacuums the lobby after hours. He thought 'Kikuchi' was one of the attacks from the series.
<Toei> Ahh...honest mistake.
<FUNi> Here's your gigantic share of the profits, btw.
<Toei> Cool. Same time next month?

But the buyer has the proof of Kikuchi's name on the back as a defense for the set not being what it's supposed to be.MajinVejitaXV wrote:I don't think it was ever advertised by retailers that this set would have the replacement score, it was just "confirmed" by FUNi...so, the retailers will say "Enjoy your set, which is exactly as we advertised it, and thanks for shopping with us."coola wrote:I actually feel sorry for Amazon/Rightstuf, and rest of shops, what will they tell to their customers? It also says 'Original Japanese Score,' which directly contradicts the Kikuchi mention. And since that part is bigger type, it wins. ;pGozar wrote:But the buyer has the proof of Kikuchi's name on the back as a defense for the set not being what it's supposed to be.
Edit: Plus, if memory serves, the original singles for DBZ had "Contains Brief Nudity" or something on every single volume, whether it had it or not...so, FUNi not being 100% accurate on their packaging? Not a new thing.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai Season 1 Discussion
So, lemmie get this straight...
The first few Z Kai "part" sets (as distributed by FUNimation) had the Yamamoto score. This was all well and good, until Toei started replacing the on-air Japanese broadcast with Kikuchi.
Once Z Kai part 4 (or 5, I honestly don't remember) came around, Yamamoto was replaced with Kikuchi there, too.
If I were to buy these "season" sets, I'd have half the series with Yamamoto, and half with Kikuchi.
Ugh.

But couldn't one argue that the mention of Kikuchi and "Original Japanese Score" could lead someone to believe it means the Original Z score?MajinVejitaXV wrote:It also says 'Original Japanese Score,' which directly contradicts the Kikuchi mention.
