This kinda reminds me of how in the late 90's, they were releasing DBZ figures from the Cell and Majin Boo even though the current story arc at the time only went up to Goku first arriving on Namek.

I'm sure that confused a lot of kids.

Most American kids grew up with "Here's a bunch of barely introduced characters, most of which serve no real purpose besides being fodder, and this one guy is angry at this other guy for no reason, and this old guy dies when this other guy dies for no reason and they can magically fly and shoot laser beams and WHO CARES LASER BEAMS PUNCHES TO THE HEAD AWESOME DRAGONBALL Z", and a good deal of them think that's the "proper" introduction, with all the stuff that's meant to come before being unimportant fluff.

Nicktoons' "ok, 25 year timeskip and a bunch of new supporting characters you haven't heard of" doesn't seem all that bad in comparison.
Yeah, but at least in Z's time, they got the Buu Saga. We start out with Kai, which starts at the same time Z did, so it's the same, but we skip Buu. Really, if you don't count the ability to research on the internet, they would have it better.

If they air the Boo saga, would they start with episode 195? Showing the Ano Yo-ichi Budokai episodes, seeing as how Kai's final episode foreshadows those episodes. Or maybe they could just start at 200. Doesn't really matter to me. I just hope that if Nicktoons does air these they use the Kikuchi score to stay consistent with the Kai episodes.

It does seem weird though that they would skip the rest of Z. But seeing as how the GT template site up and there isn't one for Z that seems to be the case. Unless they upload all the Boo saga stuff to the Kai page.

It could just be that they'll market the Buu episodes as Z Kai. It would make sense commercially since that's what kids know the show as.

No, I doubt they'll market the Buu stuff as Kai since they've been so keen on in their ads that Kai is ending, especially now with their "Super Saiyan Saga" event, so tops I see them marketing Buu seperate, ala "Dragon Ball Z: The Majin Buu Saga! Just when you thought the story was over!" to that affect I'd say..

Ahhh, has the marketing been saying Kai's ending? That I did not know. I heard it was early on, and then they changed it a bit. Really, though, I have to wonder if they'd make a completely separate webpage for just the Buu stuff.

It's been said that Nicktoons finale week of Kai is the upcoming month, but to be frank, I care more that they air Z Kai 92 than the rest. It's gonna be so awesome!

Will they use the English Dragon Soul for those last two eps remaining that make use of it? Probably.

I would assume so. But who would sing it? Vic? Or would it be everyone who has sung on the uncut DVD's together all at once? It's gonna be awesome nonetheless.

Also if someone can, can you please post a link or something to the ad saying Kai is ending in December. I haven't watched Nicktoons since Friday, and they don't have it up on their website either. Much appreciated.

Seeing as they've stopped dubbing the insert songs, I doubt it. They'll probably do what they did with the Japanese BGM dub track of GT's last episode and just leave the full versions in Japanese.

I think they stopped dubbing the insert songs because those only appeared once in the series. "Dragon Soul" appears multiple times so I would hope they would at least dub the full song for the final episodes.

Pretty much except for the ridiculously popular characters like Broli who everyone knew about even before Season 3 of the dub. In 1999 I had somewhat of an idea of who Trunks was (I mean, he was in "Rock the Dragon" for crying out loud) and got a few figures of him. I also remember wanting to find a kid Gohan figure back then but couldn't find one so I settled for Goten, knowing absolutely nothing about the character aside from his name and that he looked like Goku. Still have all my figures, though SSJ Trunks' arms are missing. Never got why they made those Super Battle Collection arms detatchable.

Nicktoons JUST aired an advertisement for GT. It's to begin airing on January 16th. Looks like no Boo saga.

Now that makes sense. I haven't heard the term "saga" thrown around in any ads for DBK until these recent ones, so it'd make sense that they'd do this as a sort of way to slowly transition into the Boo Saga stuff.

OK, nevermind :/.

I get that Nick, or whoever is in charge of things is pleased with DBK getting popularity on the air, but I just find it odd that they'd jump the gun and go with GT when there's such a crapton of other things DB-related that they could air instead. Movies, DB, editing together cut scenes from videogames a la youtube users... anything else would have made more sense than this.

The DB series as a whole is already known in the states to fans as something that you have to backtrack with to get the full picture, so you'd think something would be done to better the series' rep here this time around by at the least playing the Boo episodes before any GT. Yes, there is the internet for newbie fans to look into, but if memory serves, wasn't there a post not too long ago here talking about our shock and awe at the DBK forums on the Nicktoons site and those fans? While some younger fans could make an effort to pick up the pieces and look into the missing gaps, I feel like there will be just as many young fans out there wondering "wtf?"

I remember making an effort to look into Piccolo's character from DB back in the day before any of the King Piccolo episodes aired and getting confused as all hell trying to keep track of the good Piccolo and Kami and King Piccolo and his henchmen. And while there are some good sites out there nowadays that could clear things up, I think that airing GT without airing the Boo arc at all is just ridiculous. The number of new characters introduced in the Boo arc is just too much to keep track of. Sure you can say the same thing with trying to pick up on Z's characters without having watched DB but I uh... blah, I just don't like the situation at hand, is all.

So airing GT without the Buu Saga?
That's even weirder than GT starting at episode 16!
Now these young newcomers will be wondering who is that Kid with Goku! Lord Pilaf? Pan & Goten?! WHAT THE HELL IS THAT PINK MONSTER!

Oh, I don't like it either, though. I mean, you've got Videl, Goten, Oob, Boo himself, Mr. Satan being friends with everyone now, Pan, Bra, and Goku being alive again, among others, to explain.

But my honest position on it is, at least they're not just dropping Dragon Ball altogether. I can actually see the original series being aired later on if GT does well too, and maybe they'll air the Boo saga as a sort of "Lost Episodes" thing, a la the Black Star Dragon Ball arc.
