I wish Shue would be laissez-faire about the DB video game franchise.

They obviously made an effort with UT, I think if they were given more than a year for it we could have gotten something amazing. But now I guess they might just abandon it and that'll be the end of it.

Then we'll get another new game next year and it will be the same thing all over again.

I was talking to DNA.

And did everyone miss that the PS3 version of UT is still in the top 10 for software sales in Japan in its debut week?

Just saw interesting message from Tony Shoupinou from Namco Bandai. Do you know on which source is based the Bandai view of worldwide reception when deciding the sequels or future of the franchise (other than sales)?
On METACRITIC.COM, no kidding!

Also they think that UT is doing fair well and claim it sold more than RB2 for the same time.

For the critics, I checked the metacritics score (http://www.metacritic.com/) to have a global picture. This is one of the tool we are using to check the global reception of a game.
As a global answer: don't get me wrong guys, I'm representing the company as a community manager, I make the connection between company and fans and try my best to make sure the community requests are properly known by producers, developers, marketing team and others.
But sadly, I don't make the decisions (I wish I could ^^)...and I really appreciate you recognize that. As i said, I'm the first in line who wish to have better Dragon Ball Games, because it is the series I was born with. That said, I also know that it is not possible to please everyone, and I can understand, on my own, that a company make choices that satisfy the most.
Yes, DBZ UT is selling more than DBZ RB2, but I'm not authorized to give figures as it is not my job: this is Public Relation department job and I simply can't do it.
On a positive note, you can be sure we are already working on a project that could be categorized as 'Hard core'. Stay on the edge of the seat in 2012!
Thanks
You can expect new shit in 2012, as they are already working on it, yeah, categorized as hardcore. It will suck dog's balls probably, but you can't expect manager from Bandai to say otherwise I think

DB Xenoverse is not a DBZ simulator with fighting elements, it's a semi competent fighting/action game with DBZ simulation elements.

Nobody knows, but the sales are lowest from all the DB next-gens.

Also, Bandai is considering doing Budokai Tenkaichi 3 in HD, but that means only they are/ or did talk about this possibility.

Lol, I saw the daizex frontpage and the rating on Amazon is amazing. Now we need proper Japanese reviews and Spike will be doomed
On a serious note, DBZ UT didn't sell that worse than RB2, but if Japanese people are serious with the rating (not representative, but still), then I doubt, that Spike can continue to make the next game.
If we take vgchartz numbers, DBZ UT did only well in the US. This game has to be one of the most controversial DBZ games now...

I just saw this on facebook.¨

Well, why not a next game, if the sheeps they are selling these games and Dragon Ball franchise too are USA and next the European customers primary?? :)
Why do you think there is character creator, when some representative from Japanese Bandai said that Japanese don't care about such things and US fans were screaming for it for years :D

Hardcore? Budokai style maybe?

We'll find out in May.

I don't think they're really considering it, just thinking about it. Sometimes the Community Manager's gotta say things to simply not un-please the fans. I wouldn't take talk of HD remakes too seriously.
This is interesting talk though of a possibly "Hardcore" DB game. It could be like Budokai, or could still be in 3D but with proper fighting mechanics. Well, time will tell. If there's any more news we'll keep updated.

Yeah, I know what you mean. As there is not much of HD remakes of the games at all, I doubt that this insignificant franchise in the whole game industry will get HD remake.

He's referring to the post MCDaveG posted, which quoted a Namco Bandai Community Manager talking about, stuff. Nothing to do with those Amazon links.

The quotes came directly from Facebook.

Okay, thanks.

When I read what he said, the first thing in my mind that popped up was, "Burst Limit 2." That is pretty unlikely though, so maybe another simulator? Budokai 4? HD remakes? The possibilites are endless!

Personally, I'd hope they keep it 3D, but make the combat much more true to the series, regarding correct fighting styles (BL), and how they fought and other things. I'm not sure what they will do to be honest. But I do think it's unlikely that they change to side on combat, well that is unless Spike leaves... I'll try to get info on what this slightly "hardcore" game will be like.

So what would you rather this be?

Well, my ideal game will be that tournament one, like Super Dragon Ball Z/Street Fighter or the same fighter as RB2, both with whole new original story and some brand new characters.

Well, as developing time is 1 year, be it RB3 with bigger roster, story mode and some nice bonus. I don't fucking care anymore.

Can I ask a couple of questions about this game's custom soundtracks? I'm getting it for Christmas and one thing I've always wanted was to play a DBZ game on a TV-based console with the Faulconer dub music. I have all of the CDs and ripped unreleased tracks fans have acquired, so my questions are as follows:

(1) How do you go about putting the music on a PS3? Must you use CDs or can you put all of it on a flash drive and plug that in?
(2) Once the music is there, how do you import it into the game?
(3) To what extent can you customize the tracks? So for instance, assuming there's a fight between Vegeta and Freeza, can I use the Faulconer track "Vegeta Fights Freeza" over that? Likewise, can I use other Faulconer tracks over cutscenes?
(4) How are custom songs looped? Would I have to edit tracks so they loop properly? And if so, what file format works (I'm guessing .mp3)?

Except for adding music to Rollercoaster Tycoon back in the day, I've never had any real desire to experiment with custom soundtracks, but this has me intrigued. Any help is appreciated :)
