I really wished they showed the Buu Arc. It was probably my favorite of the series. Hopefully this move means of a possible One Piece on Nicktoons! :)

Not watching if it has that Mark Menza music.

What were they thinking when they decided to do this? The beats are awful and actually makes the show look boring as hell.

And with that, we can confirm that they will start with episode 1.
Also, on the flipbook, all the images are clearly from the singles, does that mean dub music?

Haha...I love how one of the lines they use is, "Do you think Goku will find the Blackstar Dragon Balls?" Yeah, it's funny because we obviously know exactly what will happen, but it's also funny in a cute way, because you know that phrase was targeted at a whole new generation of fans who will experience GT for the first time. There's something inherently gratifying about seeing a new generation of kids getting into the show. It just takes you back to that initial excitement you felt as a kid when you watched one of the three "Dragon Ball" anime series. It's really cool.

A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

And, also, if this is the case, no hope for "DAN DAN", and most likely that god-awful rap song.

EDIT: Just noticed it's gonna get a TV-Y7 rating. What did it get on Cartoon Network? I remember DBZ getting at least a TV-PG rating when it went "uncut". Then again this obviously will be edited to some extent.

I'd be (pleasantly) shocked if we heard the original soundtrack. I vastly prefer Tokunaga's material over Menza's, but I'd put my money on them using the dub music, simply because using the original soundtrack would probably entail re-editing the series, and they likely just gave Nicktoons the edited video masters that they gave to Cartoon Network years ago.

Some of their commercials actually make GT look pretty interesting and action-packed, even though it's mostly a dud. GT's first few episodes are nice but it never really gets great again until Vegeta has his flashback and Goku has his first epic moment with the Fire Dragon.
Sean Schemmel is THE MAN! :)

Me- "Also, before anyone mentions it, Schemmel's interview was from nearly 15 years ago. He paid a brief visit to Kanzenshuu's forums a few years back and earned legendary respect that cancels out anything he said from that long ago. :D"

Aww yeah, turn kids on with DBZK, and then turn em right back off with GT. What an awful decision. It would have made 10x more sense to go from the Cell Saga with Kai all the way back to the beginning of Dragonball. At least kids would know what the hell is going on instead of there being a complete saga that's essential to the transition from Buu Saga to GT. How is Goku magically back to life? Who the hell is Majin Buu? What's an Uub? Who is Goten? Woah, there's a Super Saiyan 3! Wait, you mean that isn't the major transformation of this series? Someone should be fired.

If they just went right back to Dragonball, it would make so much more sense. People would actually know what is going on in the story, they'll know "Oh, so this is who Goku was when he was a kid before we met him" and they'll get introduced to a lot of the characters they saw in DBZK and how Goku met them and such.

Someone has to contact both Funimation and Nicktoons regarding this.

Contact them about... what, exactly?

Folks, this happened 15 years ago, too. We skipped 140 episodes. Was it confusing? A little. Did life go on? Yes.

Did we have countless video games and the entirety of the series already available to buy and rent on multiple formats right there at our fingertips to fill in those missing story bits? Nope. Do kids today? Yep.

All this "think of the children!" nonsense is hysterical bullshit. They'll be fine, you'll be fine, and everything will be great for everyone.

Except for that whole replacement score thing. Ugh.

Well, who honestly thought FUNimation would make new masters for this broadcast? They'd have to resynch the music for the edited versions and all that stuffage. This way they can just ship their readily made masters and be done with it. It really isn't a surprise.

Agreed, that's exactly what I've been saying. It all comes down to a matter of convenience--they already have edited masters to give to Nicktoons, so why wouldn't they? I feel very confident that if they were editing GT for the first time, that in this day and age, FUNimation would use the original soundtrack. I've heard that the Menza score has its fans here and there, but they are pretty obscure. Overall, it was pretty hated across the board--fans of the original Japanese version hated it, fans of Faulconer's music hated it, and there were strong rumors going around that many actors and executives at FUNimation didn't even like it. The fact that "Step Into The Grand Tour" is nowhere to be found on their DVD releases, and instead replaced with dubbed versions of the opening and closing songs, lends credibility to this. FUNimation's not really in the business of "reversioning" anymore, at the very least not to the degree to which they used to be. I strongly believe that we would have gotten the original score if edited masters didn't already exist.

Alas, they do. So I'd be shocked if we got anything other than Menza's music.

The fact that they skipped over Dragonball is making me mad. I wonder if they think GT will be more exciting.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Probably because it starts right after Z and the kids will want to know what happens next instead of going back to before Kai started. But then there's the problem of not airing the Boo arc.
So mondo lame.
