The system is basically like a really big PS3. I haven't done any real research on the System 357, not even sure how much info on the thing is available, but I'm assuming it has a fairly large internal hard drive that not only holds the system info, the game, etc., but their updates as well. As with the home consoles and the DLC characters that aren't just unlock codes, they can probably add as many as they want, as long as they don't run out of room.Saiga wrote:Well that's a pleasant surprise. Oh I understand they wouldn't run out of room with 15 characters, but when people said "1 slot left" I immediately thought of a slot in the character selection screen. But even if that were the case, I guess they could just revamp that as well.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:The system is basically like a really big PS3. I have a question, though: How do they actually update the arcade games? Do the arcade machines have an internet connection to download and install the new content?

I'd assume so. I think I remember reading that they use a specific netcode to allow players to fight each other across the country, so I'm sure that they can use the servers to update as well.Saiga wrote:I have a question, though: How do they actually update the arcade games? Depends on Arcade, the newer ones are updated through Internet and ZBR machines uses the GGPO netcode. Older Arcade machines don't have Internet-Updates...TheDevilsCorpse wrote:I'd assume so. Dabra? But isn't his name really Dabura? Think it is.DragonBoxZTheMovies wrote:A couple of gameplay photos of Tenshinhan and Dabra:

Well anyway, Bandai Namco should just release this for Xbox 360 and PS3, instead of another game with Ultimate Tenkaichi's gameplay or Raging Blast.
2v2 = Epic awesome online!

Dabra is his proper name. It comes from Abracadabra.dbboxkaifan wrote:Dabra? But isn't his name really Dabura? Think it is.DragonBoxZTheMovies wrote:A couple of gameplay photos of Tenshinhan and Dabra:

You could explain a little more, because not all characters in Dragon Ball share the exact same name and pronunciation as the word their pun is from.Saiga wrote:Dabra is his proper name. It comes from Abracadabra.
Yes, his name is a pun off of abracadabra, and in Japanese is spelled ダーブラ/Daabura. The "u" is basically supposed to be silent, unlike the Funimation dub (not Dah-BUU-rah), so a lot of us just don't write it.

"Dabra" is no more "proper" than "Dabura"; it just conveys the pun source a little more explicitly.
Part of the problem with the "Dabura" spelling is that folks (and does this happen in FUNimation's English dub?) tend to pronounce it like "duh - BUR - a"... which... isn't accurate.

"Dabra" and "Dabura" also both ignore the elongated A sound in his name (ダーブラ/Daabura), which represents a deviation from how "abracadabra" is spelled in katakana, and is often represented by AR in transliterations. This is the deal with Zarbon, for instance. His name's a pun on ザボン/zabon, "pomelo", and the only difference between that and the character's name is an elongated A sound (ザーボン/Zaabon). But while "Zarbon" is near universal, for whatever reason nobody seems to use "Darbura", though you do see that spelling in some of the Carddass cards.

I actually used to see "Darbura" a lot in the old days (with "Doubler" being the other big one), and I thus used it myself for a long time. But that spelling seemed to die out around the time FUNimation got to those episodes.Herms wrote:"Dabra" and "Dabura" also both ignore the elongated A sound in his name (ダーブラ/Daabura), which represents a deviation from how "abracadabra" is spelled in katakana, and is often represented by AR in transliterations. I wonder what the last four slots are going to be? My guess would be Fat Buu, Vegito, Bardock and Broly (Those two appear to the most popular when it comes to DB video games).

Why does everyone keep assuming its the "last X number of slots" when they've updated the page to hold more characters before? The page originally only had enough slots to hold up to Tenshinhan, but there is a whole 'nother row now. You should be asking who is going to fill up the next four slots, and then see if they add more later.Hellspawn28 wrote:I wonder what the last four slots are going to be? For the most part, they seem to be inserting characters that have unique traits and techniques to have varied gameplay. So, I agree one of the Buu forms will probably be included, and maybe Vegetto because of the sword and finger beams. Gotenks would seem like a safe bet for his Ghosts 'n Donuts as well. If they aren't sticking to the main series, Janenba would have some fun moves...who knows though, really.

I almost regret not saying we'll see a port of this game this year. I had no clue this game was being updated so frequently and from a financial standpoint it certainly wouldn't make sense to port this when it's 'unfinished' so to speak.That and you want people in the arcades which a port might work against seeing as how we live in an era where "The same game as in the arcade but not nearly as good looking!" isn't really applicable anymore in terms of home ports. I am 95% confident we'll see a port of this game, its release date dependant on its arcade life span. Of course if the PS4 comes out before that point that could be a bit of a monkey wrench.
This game is looking better and better which each update. I regret not following it until this point.

I personally hope we will see this later this year since this could be the major DB game of 2012. I also think Broly and Coola will be next to be added since they are the most popular movie DB characters and have appear in the most games since 2003.
