Folks, this happened 15 years ago, too. We skipped 140 episodes. Was it confusing? A little. Did life go on? Yes.

Did we have countless video games and the entirety of the series already available to buy and rent on multiple formats right there at our fingertips to fill in those missing story bits? Nope. Do kids today? Yep.

All this "think of the children!" nonsense is hysterical bullshit. They'll be fine, you'll be fine, and everything will be great for everyone.

Except for that whole replacement score thing. Ugh.
..............
I can see your point.

Here's the final question: will they skip the "Lost Episodes"? My money is on yes.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
I think they'll start with episode 1, just because, look at the website. "Do you think Goku will find the Blackstar Dragon Balls?" This obviously fits for the first saga.

That doesn't guarantee anything, actually.

Hence the reason he used the phrase, "I think," right? I'm inclined to think the same thing for the same reason. Just like I'm inclined to think they'll use the dub soundtrack merely because they already have edited masters on hand. The only way we'll know for sure is if we tune in, though. I'll be interested to see if GT can hang on to Kai's viewers. I can't imagine it will get the ratings that Kai got, because with Kai you have two groups of viewers: new fans who are watching the show for the first time, and old fans who wanted to see how the new dub would turn out. They're going to lose the second half since the GT dub is common knowledge to fans like us.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Wouldn't there also be the old group of dub fans watching it for nostalgia?
So mondo lame.

Oh, I get it; lets see if I can return an equal amount of smart-aleck:

I'm inclined to let people know that a little line about Goku finding the Black Star Dragon Balls doesn't really imply that they won't skip over the first 16 episodes for the same dumb reason they did years ago. Just like I'm inclined to believe that because a marketing line about Goku finding the Black Star Dragon Balls doesn't "obviously fits for the first saga" because GT as a whole is about the Black Star Dragon Balls being the source of problems. Mind you, Toonami used similar slogans about the Black Star balls when they first aired GT.

I think you misunderstood me. There was no smart-alecky stuff intended there, although I guess in hindsight I could see how it might come off that way. No worries. :)

Anyways...

I mean, I guess...I just doubt that they will be able to bring in Kai ratings. Between DB, DBZ, and DBGT, most fans consider DBGT to be the weak link.

Hey, what master do you think they'll use with the episodes? After an inspection of the page on Nicktoons, I found some screenies here, such as these:

What do you think they're using? For a second they look like the DBoxes because of the grain, but I realized the Green Bricks have the same colors, and the compression may be the reason they look like that.

But hey, if they are the DBoxes, that explains why we got the GT episode 1 NEP in Box 7.

As long as "DAN DAN Kokoro Hikarete'ku" is the opening theme song, I'm in. "Grand Tour" made no sense at all, but that doesn't excuse the fact that it's still likely to be the theme song Nicktoon's uses. The BGM score will most likely be the dub music as well. We're all basing this off of the fact that Nicktoons aired the TV versions of the Dragon Ball Z movies the same way. FUNimation never went back and edited them with consistent scores or proper opening themes. So why would they do the same with GT?

But again we won't know until it premieres. I just at length hope they air it in proper order.

They look like the singles to me, which look very similar to the Dragon Boxes.

My guess, Nicktoons was given the same footage as Cartoon Network.

I saw another promo and it used footage from the 1st 16 episodes. I'm banking on them starting from episode 1. But it just makes mewonder, why skip the Buu arc? Maybe the old dub just won't work on Nicktoons (quality wise) or is it the amount of violence? But that's a topic on it's own.

My guess, Nicktoons was given the same footage as Cartoon Network and YTV.
YTV's masters were from France, and looked 20 years older than Funimation's, haha.

Oh, haha. That sucks. I guess you can tell I don't live in Canada and never saw the YTV footage. Interesting info. Thanks.

Maybe Toei has something secretly in the works for the Buu Arc portion of Kai? And because of this, they're deciding to just go with the momentum and show GT in the meantime, only to come back to it once it's finished? Huh? Huh? :D

Huh? :|

Well, either that or Nick could air the Buu arc as "Lost Episodes"... :D
