My only guess is that, like with the GT rap song, they wanted to have music that was a lot darker/harder for the "hardcore" atmosphere they were presenting with their version of GT and maybe they thought Bruce's style didn't match what they wanted.
No official reason has been given for why they didn't use Faulconer again. In all likelihood, it was simply a matter of branding. FUNimation probably wanted to present GT as a product that, while still connected to the "Dragon Ball" franchise, was still a new and unique entry in its own right that would be worth people's time and money. They also knew that the audience who they appealed to with their DBZ dub were getting older by now. So in the interest of making GT seem like a unique, new show, they went with a different composer to give the show a different "feel."

.......Which they could have also done by simply leaving Tokunaga's score in, but, you know, whatever.

Like Kei17 mentioned though, their biggest mistake was that they tried to make GT look darker than it really was. Mostly to appeal to their aging fanbase and give them the false impression that GT would be less kiddy. Their music choices seem to be a reflection of that decision.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

This might be a bit off topic, but reading the description of that video...

This video is part of a week long promotion from Nicktoons. Watch Dragon Ball Z Kai every night this week at 8pm EST to obtain codes to unlock each DBGT Sneak Peak. Be sure to get the codes so you can unlock episode 98 of DBZ Kai. It will be an online exclusive.

Does this mean the last episode of Kai is not even going to be shown on TV? It says it's an online exclusive you need a "code" to watch, am I reading this wrong or...?

I agree. It is the absolute worse score, in my opinion, second only to "real American bands". Everyone else, Kikuchi, Yamamoto, Faulconer, Levy, Johnson, Megaman, they're all better.

Lost episode of Dragonball Kai? What? It's only gonna be lost cause they're making it lost. What's the point of not showing the last episode on TV to the public?

It is actually lost in Japan. So to speak. It never aired on broadcast TV .

Who knows. Could be Toei included that in the original deal with FUNimation. No TV broadcast of the final episode. Since Japan didn't get it. Or it could be that FUNimation was being smart and when they made the deal with Nick, included that the final episode has to be an online exclusive. That way FUNi's final home release would have higher profit margins. We most likely will never know.

We are kinda straying off-topic though.

It's lost, but it will be found in the final Blu-ray/DVD release of KAI! See, marketing is awesome!

Actually, it's included on the final DVD volume and Blu-ray box as a "bonus episode".

What am I talking about? LOL. I clearly stated , THINK, in other words, I wasn't sure. I don't like Kai, nor have I paid much attention to the r2 releases. The sad part is you even bolded my statement and still didn't read what I said...

Anyways, to get back on topic.

Was anyone else annoyed by that high pitch frequency noise during the video?

Absolutely! GT without the original music is like Frank Sinatra without his voice. GT is just completely unwatchable when the original music's taken away. Despite the flaws of Blue Water, if you come in with an open mind about the voices it is a pretty decent GT dub.
I'm not disputing that, but I'm saying that a dub using the original score shouldn't be a plus; it should a requisite.

Hah! You mean Menza's soundtrack? A high pitch frequency noise, that about sums it up well i'd say!

Re-reading my previous post, I did come off as a bit snobbish. Guess I was under the stress of the holiday season. Sorry 'bout that.

The idea of them giving "Sneak Peeks" of GT is priceless. I mean, they were getting Kai way before it ever came out on video, so at least that makes sense, but any kid could easily get all of GT unedited for well under $40...

The DBZ Kai finale is on tonight. Does anyone know the ratings for the episodes this week?

It's on nicktoons.com right now. ep.97, not 98 as expected.

It does have the preview for 98 though.

Funny. It's part of the awful bgm!
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

Well... that's.... sad. I never heard the English BGM before, didn't think it was that bad. Hopefully the show will be watchable.

The Blue Water Dub's voice acting is fine really. I watched the whole series with that dub and had no problem except for Vegeta's voice.

If Nik Toons wants to air GT, they should probably air the Boo Saga first. I mean GT is going to get really confusing to anyone who just watched Kai. I mean right off the bat you have Goku sparring with Oob, you have Goten as a character, you have the Gohan that we know, and you have "Mr. Boo". I guess they can kind of get away with Pan, but the audience will be really confused as to what the hell happened and why there are so many new characters. So I don't know if it's such a good idea. Then again, I can see the fans doing what I would do as a kid and going online and trying to find out what the hell is going on, stumbling across a wealth of DB/Z/GT information and making it fun. I don't know.
