I mean right off the bat you have Goku sparring with Oob, you have Goten as a character, you have the Gohan that we know, and you have "Mr. Boo". I guess they can kind of get away with Pan, but the audience will be really confused as to what the hell happened and why there are so many new characters. So I don't know if it's such a good idea. Then again, I can see the fans doing what I would do as a kid and going online and trying to find out what the hell is going on, stumbling across a wealth of DB/Z/GT information and making it fun. I don't know.
Yea, this type of thinking has been going hand in hand with this DBGT news. But, as VegettoEX pointed out, this happened in 1997 when DBZ first started airing on network television after only the first 13 episodes of DB were released here. Back then all we had was the first 13 episodes of DB to go on, but now all of DBZ has been released on DVD. Also, if they've played any of the DBZ games, most of them now run through the whole series.
Kids today should have no problem piecing together what happened between the fall of Cell and the beginning of DBGT. The only reason I thought it would be stupid to air DBGT was because I would figure the Boo arc offers more action and has more character recognition.

And that that saga is better than most of GT. Well, okay, that's just my opinion...but still, I couldn't help but add that.
My only real disappointment about this is that they'll be using Menza's score. I'm not surprised they're using that one at all given how financially impractical it would be to re-edit the show, but it's a downer nevertheless.

I was hoping they'd use the Kikuchi score featured on the new DBZ movies they released along with the bricks. But since Nicktoons used the American footage from Cartoon Network, I was not surprised that these will be the same. Disappointed though.
Also Mark Menza did the music for some of the later Z movies. So if you watched them on Nicktoons, then the GT score will be exactly the same way the BGM for those movies was.

Yeah, I think we got to give kids some credit. I saw the GT commercial with my younger cousin and out of curiosity I asked him if he knew anything about GT or any of the "new" characters. He generally new most of the characters because he googled it and saw some clips and pictures online. He was a little iffy on the plot details but he generally got it down.

Yeah, I will give you that one, mainly because I have done/know people who have done the same thing for other shows as a kid. The thing is though, you have to remember about the extremely casual fans who would not go through all of the effort to research what happened in between the sagas.

The same "extremely casual" fans won't care and will watch the new episodes either way.

Exactly, which is why they're 'extremely casual,' lol.

So I'm like the one person on Pekopon who has nostalgia for GT Menza music. I'll be keeping up with these airings for sure.

I remember seeing that many times before. I guess that's one of the artworks originally used for the merchandise in Japan.

Of course, they want to blow through the adventure and get to the "real" action. They end their mass airing with episode 27 on February 22nd, which is Vegeta vs. Bebi Gohan and Goten. They start with single episodes after that on the 23rd, when things start heating up with Bebi Vegeta coming into play.

Hmm, I don't know how the first 5 episodes will work as a movie. I would think it would make the story feel even more sluggish than it did when it was in episode form.
This kinda reminds me of when FUNimation turned the Raditz episodes into a movie type thing on VHS back in the 90's.

Seems to be from this image:
FUNimation also used it in the GT "Season one" booklet. For anyone wondering, I found it on a site called "Anime Paper" years ago, and this is the highest res version they offer to people who don't sign up and post scans themselves (which effectively earn points you can use towards full res downloads) can download. That's how it was last time I visited at least. I think there may be copies of the full scans at other places if you look hard enough.

That promo image is such a tease. I so would've enjoyed Vegeta going on the outer space DB hunt with Goku and company, even with his awful haircut.

I'm not sure I completely agree. They may be a bit off GT's models, but I think the image is drawn more in Z style, which represents the characters better than GT's animation does 90% of the time anyway, IMO.

The problem is they're doing some weird forced perspective thing, and it really just isn't done well here.
Also, Goku's face looks somewhat American in construction.

It seems like they aren't airing the first episodes afterall. I saw a commericial and their compromising the first saga into a 2 hour and 15 minute movie (even though it'll show up on the TV guides as 'A Hero's Legacy' special) and then Tuesday's episode is 'Goku VS Ledgic'

I thought Nicktoons was against words like "death" and "hell", but they were used in the Nicktoons' GT Promos.
They should just really air the uncut version, or do their own cuts than use a censored-ish version with the US-rap soundtrack.
At least use Bit by Bit for GT's OP, Nicktoons.

Why should they spend money to edit it when they have a perfectly-good version that's already edited?
And I hope they do this too, but I very highly doubt they will.
