I'm not trying to play moderator here, or trying to be rude, but folks please lets try and get back on topic. back and forth conversations only result in the locking of topics or you getting in trouble. thanks :)

How many box sets would you want your Dragon-Box: The Movies to be?

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Again. Seriously, folks. You've above the age of five. Either post in full sentences with worthwhile contributions, or don't bother posting. "Nuh uh! / Yeah huh!" responses are just going to get you warned.

Anyone with the slightest bit of marketing and business knowledge -- and removes themselves emotionally from product preferences, here -- can tell that the Dragon Boxes did "fine". Can we define "fine", though? Yes. We can.

- FUNimation paid to license the masters to release the DBZ TV Dragon Box masters.

- They projected a certain amount to produce that would enable them to release the entirety of the series, recoup costs, and make some amount of profit.

- As seen by several of the boxes essentially being completely sold out of their stock (and more closing in on this status), their business projections and allocations, while possibly conservative, performed according to plan.

Being that their "plan" is to make money, I'd define that as the Dragon Boxes doing "fine". Could they have done better? Maybe. There are a lot of factors at play there, many of which were out of FUNimation's control (the boxes coming out right as the economy was taking a dive, the Japanese production of Kai, etc.). The fact that they're actually selling through their stock (which, by the way, is the entire freakin' business model of domestic ventures like Aniplex and limited+premium releases like Madoka Magica... which itself is exactly what the Dragon Boxes were with their higher-quality cardboard stock and hardcover books) speaks volumes.

Possibly yeah, but I'd prefer FUNi to release Dragon Box Dragon Ball than Dragon Box DBGT or the films' box.

Shorter to bigger: Dragon Box DBGT/DBTM > Dragon Box Dragon Ball

Well, if I'm not mistaken Dragon Box DBGT/DBTM are only one box each, so it could go either way.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:

O how I hope so. This would be pretty damn awesome, To have the Dragon Box version of the movies, and not have to settle for the movie packs that just came out, which I actually honestly thought was a good release for the movies. And no, I doubt they will add the FUNi music since it wasn't on the dragon boxes.

Now that you mention it, the blu-rays being canceled could spark them to another project, and if this is it than Hallelujah!!! I'd prefer Dragon Ball in Dragon Box form like most others, but since they most likely don't and will never have that footage, the movies would be enough to satisfy even if all we ever have for Dragon Ball are the blue bricks.

I'm defiantly holding out for the Dragonball Dragon-Box :D That's one of the reasons why I haven't purchased the Blue Season Sets. But my patience is wearing thin.

You could always just get the Blue Bricks, and buy a Dragon Box later. They're pretty cheap right now.

Same here, but...

...this is also true, which is why I will most likely buy the blue bricks, only because next time I watch all my Dragon Boxes, I'm gonna want watch to all of the Dragon Ball anime first, and the blue bricks may be my only option.

I guess I have tobe real specific what I say. The dragon boxes may have had sold well but not to live up or pass the season sets.
And saying they sold out is a dumb excuse. They were limited to begin with. So nice try on that.

If and a big IF funimation released the dragon boxes to DB and the movies I would buy them.

How many boxes for the movies?

I would say 2 boxes.. The first box containing the DB movies and the second box having the Z movies.

Would our box be different than the Japanese?

Last it was stated, they only have the Z movies.

I'm honestly doing my best not to just insult you, because at times your logic just doesn't make any sense

How do you expect a limited release to outsell a mass market release? It isn't MEANT to outsell it. It's meant to be LIMITED.

Who knows? Personally I hope they would change it because that face drawn by Yamamuro looks off model and ugly. Those eyes.

Maybe Funimation also will get the rights to include the original ''Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans?'' I don't see why they couldn't? they don't haft to dub it, just release it.

I assume it'd be similar, but smaller in size.

Anybody know when FUNi's license expires? If it's within two years then I think it's safe to say they won't be doing DB/GT Boxes as I highly doubt they'll continue licensing DB if they don't have a mainstream release to coincide with other releases such as the Dragon Boxes. Of course, if they get back into the BD game and extended their license then I think there's a good chance at seeing more Boxes.

As for The Movies, I don't think we'll see 'em anytime soon. I mean, the last movie-pack set was released just last month, so I'll be shocked to see them anytime before Q4 of this year. If and when they do release The Movies, I'd say there will be three sets: One containing five movies, second containing five movies, and the last containing three movies with the Bardock/Trunks TV specials and The Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans! Yeah, that might be wishful thinking, but a man can dream.

I believe Funimation renewed their licenses for another 4 years? I'm not sure, I think I heard that somewhere. But I believe Funimation will release Dragonball GT Dragon-Box. I'm going way out on a limb here, but they did include a preview for GT at the end of Dragon Box 7 where as the Japanese did not. Why would they include that if they weren't going to release GT in the Dragon-Box format? But I might be over thinking it.

I want to say they re-licensed back in 2009, and as I understand it FUNi usually licenses in increments of five, so 2009 + 5 = 2014. I have absolutely nothing to support that and could be entirely wrong.

Yeah, I think you're over thinking it. I imagine they included the GT preview to stay true to the Japanese Z Box; not to foreshadow a GT Box.

Now that I think about it, the BD are suspended (possibly indefinitely) so I wouldn't be surprised if we heard a DB Box or GT Box announce at Otakon this year. Think about it; they have to have something on selves, right? Since Kai is coming to a close soon, there's nothing left to release except... the Boxes! Even if they have as little as two years left, they could squeeze all remaining Box material out in two years. But that is also wishful thinking.

The GT preview was only on the GT Box as a bonus feature.

Really? I didn't know that. Regardless, I highly doubt they included it as a hint towards a GT Box release.

You mean the GT preview that was on Dragonball Z Dragon-Box 7 as a bonus feature.

I completely understand were you're coming from.(And I'm defiantly agreeing with you) But Why would Funimation add something so small and miniscule such as the GT preview. If they didn't have plans for it? I mean Toei didn't even include it in their Dragonbox
