Given that you clearly don't know any Japanese, I don't think you're in position to judge the accuracy of these dubtitles. They're hilariously off all the time.

That is true, I don't know any Japanese. Still, no one really attempted at translating the 80's series and thanks to the Spanish sets coming out, its even more possible to translate the series. Now, if you guys know Japanese and is willing to help, that's a different ball game. :)

But you know nothing about the accuracy of those sets, and even so, translating a translation isn't very good anyway.

Well, originally the translations are for myself, being honest, I've been doing this for 3 months now just because I wanted subs for Dr. Slump. I've read all of the manga, so the dialogue was close to the mangas. It's only until now I'm starting share the subs. If you guys like it, great, if not, oh well. :)

Well I, for one, like them. It might not be word for word, but they seem to be pretty faithful to the manga. I'm just grateful that subs even exist for this show in the first place!

Not only is this discussion getting very off-topic, but all this talk of fansubs is breaking the rules, too. I do realize Dr. Slump will probably never get official English subs, which is a shame, but DaizEX is just not the place to discuss it.

Please, I created this topic to talk about the anime-comic Dr. Slump 90's.
You can open another topic to discuss Dr. Slump 80's.
Thank you! ;)

Getting back to that, does anybody have better scans of that particular moment when Arale meets Goku? The original picture looks a little blurry.

NEWS:
I found the name of the chapter which talks about Dragon Ball here:
Image
Number 19 ドラゴンボールに何願う
I think the meaning is: "What would you wish to a Dragon Ball?"
It has been translated by a japanese friend.

It looks like it starts with no.18 actually: "Son Goku Comes to Penguin Village".
Kanzenshuu: Is that place still around?

We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

Wait, are those 30 categories on the page... manga chapters of Dr. Slump remake!?
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Is it an adaptation of the anime, or new stories?

The stories are similar but not identical.
