Yeah, that was different line. It wasn't out-of-character, though; just strange that Piccolo apparently has another pair of trousers lying around and would've left the radar in there for some reason. It was just unnecessary.

Trunks states he has found the blueprints on how to shut down #17 & #18 and Krillin says if he found any else. Trunks then goes on to say something like, "Nah just some plans for some toaster."

It's stupid dialouge and pun jokes like this that made this series just awful!
I found that line really funny. Especially if you take it as Trunks being completely serious and Dr Gero plans his own toasters on the same level as his androids.
Like Red Dwarf. ''I'm a toaster! Do you wanna have toast?'' Goku: ''no, I want to defeat you'' Toaster: ''Okay, if I'll sit trough all your transformations, will you want waffle?''

A little different, but in the dub of Kai, whenever someone 'swears' (Y'know not like fuck, but hell, bastard etc.) it sounds really forced and unnatural. And even when they had Greg Ayres yell "Shiiiiiiiit", it almost felt like he was scared to say it because it came out as "Shiiiiiiiii-"

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I love when this question comes up! It sure is!
I have to wonder if during moments like these Funi was taking the piss out of Toei.

Edit-

Goku: "well...that...wasn't a question"

I guess it makes sense that they couldn't re-dub this scene for the Orange Bricks/Dragon Boxes because Sean Schemmel was unavailable to re-record any new lines of dialogue. So, it's unforgivable that such a horrible line made it in to begin with, but I get why they couldn't do anything about it.

It really wouldn't matter if they rewrote season 3 from scratch. The old dub is such a cluster of mistakes and laughable amateur hour weirdness from the word go it's really like watching a high school production of Hamlet.Every time Funi tried to make a nervous half hearted joke about people missing their ques and forgetting their lines they would stumble over their feet and smash into the hastily painted cardboard set pieces. All the while the audience grew steadily more annoyed and embarrassed at the seemingly endless bumbling and stuttering. The little siblings still had fun though! It's really why I love it so much.

This is kind of irrelevant, but I don't even remember those other Nameks showing up. o_o;

There aren't any stupid lines in here per se, but the acting cracks me up every time.

Not really. I find it neat. I guess it might be because we're unused to hearing swears in the dub.

It could also be that they're using them in places (or often enough) that they don't have the desired impact.

But yeah, Guldo's cursing does sound forced. For whatever I recall the Season 2 redub in which Guldo mutters "Oh hell...!" when he can't hold is breath any longer- probably because it was appropriate.

CAT LOVES FOOD, Y-YEAH YEAH YEAH.

I really hope no one sees this as just another dub-bashing thread. I'm not posting any of these clips with an ounce of malice - rather, I'm laughing my ass off.

Also, apparently there's been a similar discussion on this thread before -

If by crack you mean copious amounts of Barry Watson mixed with a general lack of inexperience as a company, then yes.

Also, from episode 119, Bulma -
"Somebody stop this thing, I want to get off!"

Later, same episode -
"Hey, maybe it would help us relax a little if we all sang a song!"

Few episodes later -
Bulma: Oh, hey, you've got our logo on your jacket. That's my dad's company. Are you one of our employees?
Trunks: No, not exactly. Just a fan.
Bulma: Oh I see. Well, tell me your name and I'll recommend you to dad.
Trunks: I uh...can't do that. I'm sorry, I know it's strange.
Bulma: Ohhh...mystery man!
Tien: Is his shoe size a secret too?
Yamcha: Yeah! Why can't I have a secret name!? That's not fair! I bet you have a secret spy decoder ring too!

Krillin: Vegeta seems more agitated than bored, like he's got a bad case of hemorrhoids or somethin'.

"You'd be surprised how much ground you can cover going 186000 miles per second." - Son Goku

Okay, I think I should stop now. :?
