True but don't forget that some of us have WillieD7's rip of the movies dub which can be used as a reference to edit out the unused footage from the DBOX masters (if the audio is from the movies that is), and for the part's of Movie 1's end and the start of movie 3 he didn't get there's always the Zero Y el Dragon Magico footage that we can use for reference to fill in the missing gaps. If it's episode audio then we should be able to use the spanish HG dub as reference If we canfind the full episodes that is.Gonstead wrote:Unless they were edited, since I remember an instance of a scene removed in the first movie where Bulma shows her panties but instead as an edit they just cut the scene entirely with Master Roshi just asking for a kiss, then it cuts to the scene of I-forget-his-name looking through binoculars.TheBlackPaladin wrote:I was wondering about that, too. True, but I was speaking from a Funimation perspective on just how the hell they would even include it on a Dragon Ball release unless they edited the footage themselves.

Takarajima, whooooa, that's way better quality than anything we have so far. We're still missing pretty much all the same portions I outlined in all my own posts, so that is AMAZING news to be sure.

That's awesome, Takarajima. Where did you find it?
And does anybody know how he can digitally record a copy to share with me or Ashura so we can get it to Harmony Gold or FUNimation?

Woot nice find takarajima think you could let me make the backup for HG/FUNimation I just got a cool little toy in the mail today and it make's almost if not perfect 1:1 digitized copies of VHS tapes, i'll even pay for postage both ways if you let me make the backup for them.takarajima wrote:Are there still any parts of the compilation movie that you guys haven't scrounged up yet?
I managed to get ahold of a fairly good copy. Haven't watched it through yet, but it appears to be a recording straight through from the opening scene of movie 1 (with the announcer) to the end credits of movie 3, complete with commercials. Sometimes it crackles or drops out, but for the most part the hi-fi track is playable.

I agree First we learn that FUNi actually want's to use the HG dub material to market the next DB release, and as if that wasn't cool enough takarajima has found a possibly complete tape containing the HG movie dub, lady luck seems to be really shining down blessings on this project lately.Pokewhiz7 wrote:And yet another example of why I love this community. I can't believe how fortunate things continue to be. When all's said and done, the encapsulated history of this undertaking would make a great podcast episode or feature article for Daizex (well, actually, given the recent name change of this site, would the abbreviated form of Kanzenshuu EX be Kanzex?).
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

There is no "EX" in the name of the new site. We will be using Kanzenshuu -- the full name of the site -- for all descriptions, branding, marketing, etc.

Yeah, sorry, I noticed that about five minutes after I posted. Old habits die hard, I suppose.

Re: The mysteries that still surround HG's dub of DB
I plan on writing a blog post about it once the next step is undertaken by Tommy and we find out what's on the tape. Because at that point it would just be a matter of time until FUNimation used it.
I'd call it "The Harmony Gold Dub Explained," and go into a full detailed history of the dub, all the way up to today and this story's unfolding.
Of course I suppose I could always write it sooner with a cliffhanger ending, but I don't have the time right now anyway. I think the timing may work out better later on.
Mike can do one from his perspective as well, through the podcast. That would be fun since he built the website that made this community and the recent events possible.

That's true especially if we can get a digitized copy of takarajimas's tape added to the mix.DerekPadula wrote:I plan on writing a blog post about it once the next step is undertaken by Tommy and we find out what's on the tape. That would be completely awesome.
I think this dub, what's going on with it, what was edited, and just the history of it is worth talking about on the Podcast even if Funimation does nothing with the tapes they get from HG and from us, though. That, and maybe a bit about the Dr. Slump pilot, which is kind of the precursor to this.

I would love to hear that episode. I didn't know how much of this has been touched on the show since I've only been listening for a year or two, but I think this would make an excellent topic.DerekPadula wrote:My mind is blown. I hope we get to hear a podcast about this, that would be a very interesting topic.

So, think next you can team up with kei17 in an attempt to convince FUNimation to accept the high quality TV recording audio for Z for any potential future release? That would be real swell of ya!DerekPadula wrote:Good news, everyone. FUNimation has said yes to accepting the tape!
