No, they're not. Adult Swim hides their program lineups on schedule listings sometimes when they want keep a secret. Trust me.

They did this on the day Toonami came back on April Fools day, remember? Schedule lineups said The Room was going to be airing during that time slot, but look what happened then....

I do think they should air Kai uncut. It might get a few of those "Kai sucks because they cut out all the blood and swearing" to give it a chance.

New fans aren't fans if the version they're watching/loving isn't the real thing. They'll be just as blinded as the nostalgia maniacs.

And generally, people are more apt to check out only whatever's the most convenient version, and that happens to be the English dub.
How is someone who likes the English dub any less of a fan then someone who likes the original Toei dub? Just because it has a few changes? That's like saying someone doesn't like McDonalds food if they like to take the pickles out of their Quarter Pounder and then add bacon.

Actually tell me how "Ally to good! Nightmare to you!" is bad writing WITHOUT resorting to the usual "it's not what was said in the original dub/it's out of character for Goku".

After being around here long enough and finally making an account I am surprised at the amount of people that dislike to even hate the English dub of Dragon Ball. Would you all(all being people who do not like the English dub) have preferred if it had never been on Toonami at all? Is this actually BAD news for some people? Is it bad to enjoy some cheesy lines and some inaccurate *gasps* scripts?

But to have it in English because I think it is safe to assume a good chunk of members on here primarily speak English? Sometimes the pure translation of something just doesn't flow, so they have to change it to not make it sound terrible.

In fact the way most people talk about it, it sounds mostly like " I like the English dub, so more people can buy stuff and they come out with better merch and new releases"

Kai's dub seems to be working pretty well off of an accurate translation. Unless, of course, you're saying that Vegeta telling Goku that Freeza made him evil is "more natural" because the original dialog where he says nothing of the sort cannot be translated into English without sounding unnatural, and still characterizes Vegeta the same way.. :|

Cuz fucking old funi dub sucks ass. Unless they do Japanese with subs, then I'm cool with that.
FUNimation's DBZ Majin Boo is actually all right, it's not accurately good as Kai but the great's it doesn't have so much use of damn/bastard/hell/shit, usually just 'darn'.

And Mr. Satan's either Hercule Satan or Hercule. FUNimation, you really had been trippin!

"DARN YOU, YOU JUST BLEW UP EARTH AND KILLED ALL OF MY FRIENDS!"

Also, I find the Boo-arc FUNimation dub to be overrated these days. Still plenty of terrible jokes (KNOCK KNOCK. Who's there? Boo. Boo who? AWW, don't cry, we all have to die someday!), and Goku's superhero speeches are still aplenty.

Yeah, I don't think the original DB dub is all that great either.

A few? Like complete mischaracterization of characters and scenes? Adding in dialogue were there wasn't any to start with? That counts as "a few changes"?

No, Kai's dub has a few changes. DBZ's dub is almost a different show.

Well those are the main reasons, what's wrong with them?

As a person just shy of 24, I was at a good age for Toonami. I think I was 9-10 when I started watching it and Dragon Ball Z, and I loved that block, that show, and for them getting me into anime. I wouldn't be an anime fan without Toonami. So, I've gotta show my support to the block I love (and possibly the shows I love depending on the schedule), and I can't wait to see what surprises they have for the first week of Toonami. Until they redub all of the classic series in Kai style, I wouldn't mind re-watching Kai again. They could also air some other new versions of older shows like reair FMA: B, or air new (for Adult Swim standards) Case Closed, throw on some Lupin the 3rd movies occasionally, maybe grab new Funi stuff like Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, or surprise us with stuff we didn't know would get dubbed (I would mind a dub of Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas). Hell, it may not be anime exactly, but a dub of Hikonin Sentai Akibaranger (done by Saban) could be something quite amusing.

I would like to see a solid mix of classic and new, for both old and new fans. One Piece, re-air Reboot (those last two seasons were rather adult in content at times, especially season 4 being direct to video), maybe a Funi uncut dub of Sailor Moon, return Megas XLR, while keeping Bleach to the end, bringing in Inuyasha: The Final Act, maybe get an uncut dub of Digimon Xros Wars. There are many series they could air from old and new, and many things I want that will never happen...but still, we'll see. I'm hopeful.

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128
Still recording Toonami broadcasts on VHS after all these years!

Well this is cool. I will definitely catch this. I wish they'd air the uncut and newly dubbed One Piece though.

Z Kai and One Piece *cross fingers*

As long as those two make it onto the schedule, I could care less what else they air.

It makes him look like the generic superhero as the dub protrayed him.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

Right now, all signs point to Dragon Ball not being a part of this block in any way, shape, or form. If that happens to change, I'm happy to re-open the thread. As of now, it's gone too far off-track to stay relevant. There may be subjects in here that are worth discussing elsewhere, and if you feel that way, please feel free to create new threads to handle them.
