I don't really hear the second one, but the first one's pretty similar.

Not sure if this is indeed a rip-off but they did sound similar.

That's precisely why ordinary men pursue the concept of perfection, it's infatuation. But ultimately I have to ask myself "What is the true meaning of being perfect?" and the answer I came up with was nothing. Not one thing. The truth of the matter is I despise perfection! If something is truly perfect, that's IT! The bottom line becomes there is no room for imagination! No space for intelligence or ability or improvement! Do you understand? To men of science like us, perfection is a dead end, a condition of hopelessness. Always strive to be better than anything that came before you but not perfect! Re: General Yamamoto Rip off thread
I don't think that one's a rip off....there are vague similarities but they are both still their own thing.
Re: General Yamamoto Rip off thread
You guys have to keep in mind one fact - nothing is created in a vacuum. That is, every chord progression, motif, dramatic pause, melody has already been created before (I'm talking about the one's that actually sound good to the ear, I know that if you mash any random combination of notes together you would virtually have infinite options, though that usually doesn't produce anything listenable...)
You also have "musical cliches", composition formulas, popular verse-chorus forms, and of course most pieces use the same chord progression, but in a different key...
SO if you happen to notice similarities, it doesn't necessarily mean that the composer ripped off so-and-so.

Re: General Yamamoto Rip off thread
Those arrangements are credited to him on the soundtracks, but since the jingles themselves are taken from the series' opening and ending themes (which were not written by Kenji Yamamoto), that's probably why Toei felt safe enough to keep them a part of the show.dbboxkaifan wrote:About Yamamoto Kai was the break card between Episode A and Episode B composed by Kenji Yamamoto and the NEP too?

Re: General Yamamoto Rip off thread
I've found Masashi Terada, a Japanese musical composer, mentioning Yamamoto's scandal:

According to his tweets, musical arrangers in Japan regularly buy many CDs highly ranked in the Billboard charts, then take some interesting portions from them for their own works. He says Yamamoto went too far in such a practice and that made him fade from the limelight. Incidentally, he is directly acquainted with Yamamoto, and he says Yamamoto earns (or used to earn) few million yen per song.

The Victor's Dance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtevIlwMPEk

For the Braveheart one, I sped it up to the same tempo as The Victor's Dance and transposed to the same key. It sounds pretty much identical.

It's funny, because The Victor's Dance sounds like an orchestral, instrumental version of the Chorus from Kusuburu Heart ni Hi wo Tsukero, Budokai 2's opening song!masterz13 wrote:The Victor's Dance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtevIlwMPEk

Re: General Yamamoto Rip off thread
From what I've read, he seems not to know detailed information about the scandal because he took sick leave for mental problems over a decade ago, and has returned to work this year.JulieYBM wrote:Wow, that's really interesting. I wonder if Terada knows how exactly Yamamoto was found out?

Re: General Yamamoto Rip off thread
Who composed the RB2 soundtrack.
Re: General Yamamoto Rip off thread
Are you asking? If so, it's Yamamoto. The in-game soundtrack shares the same soundfonts with Battle of Omega, the opening song, which is confirmed to be his composition, and the entire soundtrack got replaced on all the reprints after his scandal. Also, the soundtrack CD release was cancelled.DarkPrince_92 wrote:Who composed the RB2 soundtrack.
