Flashback = Top, Actual Scene from episode 245 = Bottom

This is the worst I've ever seen the colours on the dbox.

It has to be intentional. I remember the french dragonball z broadcast being like this too.Corpsecreate wrote:I doubt its intentional. I dont see why they would do this? I think a good way to check if it is indeed intentional would be to look at other releases outside of the dragon box and see what colours they have. I dont have anything other than the Dbox on hand at the moment so if someone else could then that would be great
EDIT: You may be right. It might be intentional, I just checked a video of the orange bricks and its there also. Keis VHS rips would be the best test however

To me, the best example is DBZ episode 31, and the biggest flaw is the audio quality.dprez wrote:I'd be interested, if nobody minds, if we could have more images posted here that show the best examples of the color being off on the Dragon Boxes. While watching, all I ever noticed was the pinkish hue in the sky from time to time, but it's clear that many member here see it's colors as the Dragon Boxes biggest fault. Just curious, what are the greatest examples of this color degeneration?
I notice the reddish skin a lot. But it seems to not be as bad in the later Dragon Boxes. The audio never really bothers me until I see these TV rips!kei17 wrote:Here you go:Corpsecreate wrote:EDIT: You may be right. The saiyan saga is know for having the pinkest skins and greenest skies.eledoremassis02 wrote:I notice the reddish skin a lot. But it seems to not be as bad in the later Dragon Boxes. There's a couple of threads around the forum if you search for them. This was probably the best one: http://www.kanzenshuu.com/forum/viewtop ... =7&t=10027dprez wrote:I'd be interested, if nobody minds, if we could have more images posted here that show the best examples of the color being off on the Dragon Boxes. So mystery solved! Of course, the red is still amped up big time after the film aged, but the effect was obviously intentional.

Episode 75? Isn't that in the range of the 10-or-so episodes that Toei apparently had 35mm masters for? The colors on those were actually less degenerated, but they could appear to be incorrect if you were used to the faded Dragon Box colorsBluezaBladeNZ wrote:There's one that really sticks out during the NEP for episode 75 (sorry about it being too long, I already put this together months ago and couldn't get to swapping it around):

From what I know, next episode previews are stored on separate reels. They are not very important, so it can be easily imagined that they have been treated less carefully.Zestanor wrote:Episode 75? Is it possible that the NEPs for the 35mm episodes were downscaled onto 16mm film?kei17 wrote: From what I know, next episode previews are stored on separate reels. They are not very important, so it can be easily imagined that they have been treated less carefully.
