American cigarettes are stronger?
Speaking from experience, nope. I mean, I smoke Malboro Lights anyway (pretty smooth) but I couldn't tell the difference with England and the US fags.
And I'll also add, I've never heard/used "fag" as a verb. For a few examples, if I'm out with mates, we'll 'go for a fag' all the time, but never 'go fag'. And yeah, I suppose we sometimes say 'lets go smoke'. So, fourth'd from a West Midlands-er.
And as for Bulma stinking of stale ciggs all the time, I don't think this is true. I mean, I smoke, and so do my family, but until I started asking for a fag break at work, nobody knew I smoked (even though I'd smoke on my break a fair bit).
As for why she smoked, I think Toriyama liked the look. The title page when she's 16 was just because he thought it looked good; however, maybe when it came to her being older, it was to show the transformation into her father, as it were.

People are potentially being polite. It's normally extremely obvious when someone has just come back from a fag break, unless you spray yourself before you get back in to the office.Mr.Boo wrote:And as for Bulma stinking of stale ciggs all the time, I don't think this is true. Lad next to me stopped smoking two months ago. He said it took him a week until he realised how obvious it was when other people had been smoking.
This man knows his tea. Respect him.DNA wrote: You're supposed to pull out the tea bag after two or three minutes, sometimes five depending on the kind of tea. If you don't, the infusion starts overpowering and you get a bitter taste in your tea. Then again, I don't use kettles, I infuse them directly in my mug.

I'd say probably the main reasons why anyone would smoke in RL and maybe because her Dad had the habit and she got it from him.

I live in the UK and I've never heard anyone say "let's go fag" or "I didn't know you fagged!", it's always "smoke a fag" or "bum me a fag" though that sounds homoerotic... not a verb, a noun!dbboxkaifan wrote:In UK people call cigarettes as fags, something which is offensive to say in US.Majin Boo wrote:Since when is fag a verb (of this meaning)?![]()
My ex-teacher once asked me if I wanted to go fag with him but I don't smoke so I just said no. He'd make the fags instead of buying already done. Haven't seen him for couple of years now.

I can't believe this is on-topic.

Because that image comes from Japan in 1993.
