What if #16 stayed around?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

What if #16 stayed around?

Post by Gonstead » Thu Jun 14, 2012 2:09 am

I know his death had significance in that it caused Gohan to ascend to SSJ2 but what if he was brought back with the wish or his parts recovered by Bulma and rebuilt?

What role do you think he would play if he stayed around?

Well, he would be kind of useless by the time Majin Buu rolled around.

Unless Bulma somehow upgraded him over the years to make him far more powerful. If she could do that, however, one must wonder why she didn't just build her own Artificial Human in the future timeline. Seems like the obvious solution to me instead of depending on a man with one arm and a boy barely past puberty to save the world.

He'd remain irrelevant and out-of-sight for the rest of the series.

I imagine he'd get the same treatement 18 got in the Buu saga, meaning no significant role. Probably even less, since 18 did get that second in the spotlight with the tournament. I can't even imagine him agreeing to go to the tournament since he probably wouldn't be interested in either meeting Goku nor the money. What I can imagine him doing is staying at Capsule Corp because of all the animals. Other that, yeah, just a background character like Roshi or Oolong on the Lookout.

He'd either go hang out with 17 or join PETA.

I don't think he'd be much of use.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

Because he didn't have a family to take care of nor did he ever express any interest in material stuff like she did. Unless he wanted to make a donation to some animal shelter or something, I see no reason him wanting to enter the TB.

Future Bulma had no knowledge of Dr. Gero's technology, but past Bulma had blueprints* and a whole android to learn from. I suppose it's not impossible that she could have built upon his work and taken it a step further.

*Technically she only had #17 and #18's blueprints, which are probably pretty different from #16 himself. But hey, it's something!

She already had to fix 16 from the damage he received from Cell's second form. I'm sure that if his internal database didn't already have some sort of blueprints for his own design that she could just download, then he'd have willingly let her run all sorts of tests on him so that she get a better understanding of how he was made so that she could return him to factory standard. lol

Firstly, he'd be living at Capsule Corp., caring for the animals.

Secondly, he'd just do the same as everyone else who wasn't a Super Saiyan (or Kaioushin/Kibito and Piccolo). Stand around in the background gawping and/or commenting on the prominent characters' superior strength. He wouldn't enter the tournament because I doubt he'd have any desire to kill Gokuu anymore, and he knows that he's much stronger than him anyway. I don't think Blooma and/or Dr. Brief could somehow upgrade him, as Dr. Gero's technology would be much too advanced to do anything of worth other than remove a bomb.

So, along with the others, he'd be killed by Boo and later revived with the Dragon Balls.

Didn't Kaioshin become essentially a whiney shit after what happened with his brilliant 'plan'?

Yeah, but he at least brought Gohan to the Kaioushin Realm so he could train with the Z-Sword and, unbeknownst to him, receive his predecessor's power-up.

If #16 had stayed around I doubt he would have made much of a contribution, much like #18 quickly becomes useless during the Cell arc. Bulma is quite the genius when it comes to technology but there is no way she could have enhanced #16 anywhere close to how strong the Saiya-jin end up becoming. He may have been useful when Super Boo was absorbing people because I doubt Super Boo could absorb a machine. But we'll never know.

He'd become a nature boy....watching over all the animals in the wild. However, when Bobbidi makes his presence known on earth, he uses his wizard powers to give #16 a newer body with additional powers, gaining full-control over the Android. Once the 25th Budokai comes around, Bobbidi sends his newly acquired servant to the tournament to gain energy for Majin Boo's revival along with previous entrants, Spopovitch and Yamu. However, #16 still refuses to pointlessly harm innocent people, but Goku's return to the planet fully gained his attention. Everyone was happy to see #16, but he didn't really care, and they all wondered what was up with him.

Through some sheer luck, #16 was paired up with Goku. The two clash in what looks to be an even battle, and Goku is wondering why #16 is so different--"The look in his eyes....is enough to scare even me!" Goku changes into Super Saiyan and #16 unleashes a power-up of his own, but now, unlike before, a certain type of Chi is felt! This surprised Goku, as he was always sure Androids had no energy. The fight is still extremely close, but #16 is gaining the upperhand and not holding-back his attacks. The Saiyan now realizes that he'll need to take it up another notch if he hopes to win. Goku unleashes the power of Super Saiyan 2, shocking everyone, including #16, who wasn't "expecting power of this magnitude", and prepares. The fight immediately becomes one-sided, with Goku nearly knocking the Android out of the ring. Vegeta can't believe Kakarot's power changed that much, and is disgusted by it. He thought his constant training would've had him at a respectable level to compete with his fellow Saiyan.

Instead of continuing the fight, Goku tells the Android to give-up since there's no point to fighting with hatred. The Android somewhat agrees and thanks Goku for the fight. Seeing no further issues, Goku reverts and celebrates his victory, only to feel the large Android's arms wrapped around him. "I'm sorry, Goku. You've beaten me, and while there's been many changes to my design, I felt like this was the only true goal I've had. Now that it's clear, I have to use it....the final power. I'd hate to do this, but I don't really have control over myself anymore. My master wants energy for the creature Majin Boo. I didn't fulfill his wishes....the world will be better off, anyway. This world is a beautiful place, and to see it destroyed would be the last thing I'd want."

Goku is listening and still trying to convince him to stop, but it seems like #16 doesn't hear anything he's saying. "I have to do something, or I'm finished.....for good!" Roshi believes the entire Budokai is in danger, and Gohan, Piccolo, Videl fly Chi-Chi, Roshi, Mr. Satan and the others out. #18 is still shocked at #16's actions, but she eventually flies off with Krillin; Vegeta doesn't even flinch a bit.

"But the audience is still there!", yells Gohan. "We can't do anything at this point. Luckily, we can use the Dragon Balls to bring them back", says Piccolo. Back in the ring, #16 begins to flash blue, and the entire sky turns dark briefly. During this time, Goku is still trying to break free, but can't. In less than 2 seconds, there's an incredibly powerful flash quickly changing into an explosion. The entire world could feel it. What was once a beautiful site for the gathering of the most powerful martial artist's quickly became a wasteland with no life anywhere near it. Not even a Super Saiyan could survive an attack like this.

"Woo-yaa. That was too close for comfort!!", could be heard from a relieved voice at the top of Karin's tower. It was Goku! He managed to teleport away at the very last second of the detonation, and is extremely lucky to have gotten away. "You're always involved in explosions, aren't ya?", says the calm cat. Goku expresses regret for not being able to save the audience, but Yaji mentions the Dragon Balls, which cheers Goku up rather quickly. "Well then, let's collect those Dragon Balls and continue on with the Budokai!!!"

*Meanwhile, back at the Budokai site*

"No stupid explosion could ever harm me. How pathetic!" muttered Vegeta, who was outraged that Goku decided to teleport away instead of staying to fight him. "I know an attack of that level wouldn't take Kakarot out, but he didn't want to chance it. Some Saiyan he's supposed to be. However, that Android....his powers were different, as if a mysterious force took him over. I need to find the source of his powers, because once I gain those abilities for myself, Kakarot is....."

*The End*

Incredibly random story I just made up.

Entertaining story if it weren't for the fact that Bobbidi can only take control of people with evil hearts. Even if #16 had a heart he wouldn't be effected as he isn't evil. He would never thank Goku for a fight as his main directive is to kill Goku, he has no mutual respect to Goku, we see this at the Cell Games where he is pretty friendly to everyone else but as soon as Goku approaches him he is in a foul mood. And I also doubt Bobbidi's power-ups, that he provides his henchmen, would do anything to an android, they would work on #18 because she is human with implants and she does have ki, so to speak. If Bobbidi could bestow ki onto a non-living object like #16 to make his power on par wish a SSJ Goku then his other warriors would have faired a lot better against the Saiyans. You're story could be a lot better if it was more thought out about the inner workings of the dragonball universe. I highly doubt Bobbidi's magic is so great he can morph robotic bodies into something newer and with additional powers, he doesn't even know how #16 operates.

Like they said, #16 would be on Capsule Corp taking care of the animals.

Well, chances are that he'll do as much as the non-super Saiyan characters, that is, nothing really useful.

Maybe the only thing useful he could do was fighting at the babidi hideout, since his energy is different from KI (Which they need) then they can't get much benefits with him around.

...If he is strong enough to take it, that is, since Dabura power still being debatable.

New Addition to question.

What if he stayed around even into GT with the Machine Mutants, Dr Myuu, Baby and Super 17 fiasco's?

Erm, thanks for the feedback. The story was made up on a whim as I posted without using actual canon logic. I just went with the "Bobbidi's magic is broken. It can do anything" stance. Still, thanks for commenting on it.
