If DB Characters are in the next Smash Bros...

Before anyone said anything, Bandai owning Dragon Ball does not mean DBZ fighters will be in the next game. I'm pretty sure the rules always been that characters need to be video game characters only.

Has that ever been said officially?

I remember when Brawl was coming out and someone posted a official rule list from Masahiro Sakurai mentioning that the 3rd party character need to started out from a video game and had a game that appear on a Nintendo console.

To play devils advocate, Smash Bros. did start out with just Nintendo franchises, then all that changed in 2006. It seems to me that anything changed in time.

Gaming wise I don't even think Dragon Ball is respected enough to get a piece of the smash bros action even though it would be cool as hell. Just imagine the Spirit Bomb as Goku's final smash, it wouldn't work all that well on a large stage like the Hyrule temple but it would be godlike on a stage like Final Destination.

Please, there has been more great Dragon Ball games in the last decade than great Sonic games.

I do agree with you on that but the general mass, especially the hardcore media, see Dragon Ball as some weird anime with some hit or miss games, while the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise is still has it's "glory" days on the Genesis and Dreamcast to redeem itself. Also, I think Sonic was put in because of fans pouring in requests IIRC.

I'm pretty sure only the Dragon Ball fans will know about the Good DB games outside of BT3 and B3. Even then I doubt every Dragon Ball fan is even aware of games like Ultimate Butoden, Zenkai Battle Royale, or Heroes which is why there's people that still believe that Hoshi crap. Me personally I've never played those games but they sure as hell look a lot better than the shit we've been getting on consoles since 2008.

And Like others have said the Sonic Franchise had a gigantic impact in the 90's which is why he still has a pretty large cult following today despite his last few games being either mediocre or terrible.
I believe sonic's downward spiral didn't start until about 06 when he moved to current gen consoles. Though I think his last 2 games Sonic Colors and Generations were pretty well received. His inclusion in Smash Bros I think said he was supposed to appear in Melee but something about the rights or spacing blah blah so he couldn't be included, I could be wrong though. I wouldn't be surprised if the worst sonic games sold as much if not more than the best DBZ games.

I do not understand? If you mean that NB are the publishers, then yeah, nearly everyone who frequents the community would know that.

The only character I'd enjoy from DB into Smash Brothers would be Kid Goku. It isn't simply due to his power, but because he seems to fit in more with the 'fun' sense, imo.

I'd like to see little Goku with his power pole, but Z characters can fly and can blow up planets so I don't see that working. His final smash could be turning into an oozaru.

I take this is sarcasm, right? Well, I wouldn't say R.O.B is important at all to Nintendo's history, just some gimmicky accessory to the NES that barely even worked, and if it did, you only had 2 games for it. But I did like how they added him in Brawl, kinda cool for them to harken back to some long forgotten 80's retro junk!

Now when thinking about, Pacman seems way more logical than (kid) Gokuu, even though the latter has way more potential.
