Sound effects done this literally are usually very bland sounding. In my experience the best sound effects (especially cartoon ones) are never what you expect them to be.
Yup. For example, Godzilla's roar was created by rubbing a resin-coated glove across a stringed instrument's strings.

I'm also very interested in how the Kaioken sound effect was created. It sounds kinda similar to the sounds made by the TIE Fighters from Star Wars, but higher pitched.
