"Kai sucks because they changed all the voice actors". This is stupid, but I've seen it a lot.
"Goku sounds like a faggot in Japanese"
"Dragon Ball is the same as Dragon Ball Z and it sucks."
"Gohan's voice in Kai sounds really gay."
The third one pisses me off.

Kai didn't even change most of the voice actors. Only Gohan, Bulma, Gurd, Burta, Jiece, Frieza, and 18 have different voice actors.sonikku956 wrote:"Kai sucks because they changed all the voice actors". This is stupid, but I've seen it a lot.

He's a little kid. Naturally, he should sound more high-pitched and not like he's been smoking since birth. I don't hate Nadolny but to be honest with myself, her Gohan voice does not suit the kid. Especially before puberty. Honestly, those who say this are often too use to Nadolny and are just judging it without really giving the new voice a chance. It's like one or two seconds and they're done. How shallow.sonikku956 wrote: "Gohan's voice in Kai sounds really gay."

Re: Typical DB bashing comments you are tired of.
People who say that Dragon Ball is just powering up and that it's always character A beating character B who is stronger then Character C is rather annoying. I feel like people who say that never read the manga or just watch parts of the show. It's okay that you don't like the show if you have a good legit reason why since Dragon Ball is not for everyone. I don't like when people are complaining about things that really shouldn't be complained about.

I just find it retarded when these hardcore anime otaku emo fanatics bash Dragon Ball for whatever reason. Every anime fan out there needs to give Dragon Ball its due respect. It's classic anime!

I wouldn't have such a problem with the English dub if so many people didn't insist it was good.Codarik wrote:"The English dub sucks"
This is 2012, how bad the old dub isn't relevant, we should appreciate it for what it is.

Hmm well, I am sick of seeing lots of members on this site bashing the Funi dub and it's music.

So you throw a bitch fit because people don't share the same opinion as you on some stupid dub? But seriously, I think people who claim the dub as the real DBZ and that Bruce Faulconer made the series are truly nerve-grating. This coming from someone who actually likes the old dub (post-season 3 that is).penguintruth wrote:I wouldn't have such a problem with the English dub if so many people didn't insist it was good.Codarik wrote:"The English dub sucks"

Or "gay" is just the go-to criticizing word for anything someone dislikes. E.g. "The Wii is for fags." I even used to hear it in IT class at school, when my friend's computer wasn't working and he shouted, "Sir, the computer's being gay!"DBZAOTA482 wrote:You know what? I think it's the people who don't like anything Japanese or outside the US. Some people are like "I stick with the US dub since it's the most popular" when it comes to DBZ. I find it annoying since some people act like Funimation's dub of Dragon Ball is the most popular one out there.Insertclevername wrote:Those are literally my most biggest gripes when It comes to complaints, I guess some people are just too dead set on their childhood that they can't accept anything else.penguintruth wrote:"The Japanese voices sound gay."

No, because whenever discussions come up about the show, inaccurate dub lines are often referenced as being canon information or reflective of the personalities of the characters when they often aren't.DBZAOTA482 wrote:So you throw a bitch fit because people don't share the same opinion as you on some stupid dub?

I never heard anyone use that excuse, more along the lines of preferring the dub because well, we speak English not Japanese. And just like the majority of this site, grew up on the dub. I agree that the originals are a lot better, especially when it comes down to games and anime but it is more convenient to watch or play the English version.Hellspawn28 wrote:I think it's the people who don't like anything Japanese or outside the US. 50% of the Kanzenshuu visitor base comes from outside North America. Granted, a few of those other regions received an English dub, but not the majority of them.Avenged wrote:And just like the majority of this site, grew up on the dub.
I don't understand. What's more convenient about playing the video games with the English dialog? That you have to go into the options first to switch it?Avenged wrote:but it is more convenient to watch or play the English version.
Frankly, I find it more obnoxious that people want to complain about other folks' supposed complaining about the series. It's a really weird cycle that I don't think accomplishes anything beyond making both sides look bad.
There's critical analysis of the series, there's critical analysis of the fanbase, and then there's whining about whining. If there's genuine discussion to be had about the latter-most, I haven't seen it done well, unfortunately.

Well I don't know about you but I prefer the English version of a game seeing how I can't speak Japanese. It's kind of hard for me to understand what's going in say... a Zelda game when it is in Japanese. Let alone that I'd have to buy an entire different console and game if I even want to play the JP version. Guess you're not aware of the regional differences in the consoles and games, talking about Nintendo here I'm not so sure about PS or Xbox. But anyone with any knowledge of Nintendo would know that even the original NES was a Famicom in Japan and said Famicom plays a type of disk not the same cartridges the US version had.

I'm not talking about the menus and such (many of which are in English anyway even in the Japanese releases) -- I'm talking about switching the character voices, which has been a standard option in pretty much every single North American version Dragon Ball video game since the "Greatest Hits" re-release of Budokai 3.

This thread has degraded into the usual opinion sniping between dubbies and subbies...I thought this was supposed to be about what people who aren't fans of DB say
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!
